daily fail link

This sounds pretty definite (yet another leak) - so no mixing of households inside at all from today in London?

@LangClegsInSpace thank you, that's helpful! I guess we'll go for a walk and a chilly picnic!

CallmeFP · 15/10/2020 12:05

@CloudPop you’ll have to cancel Sad it starts midnight Friday.

CloudPop · 15/10/2020 12:09

Bugger. Thanks.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 15/10/2020 12:17

I cant see how they're making the decisions.

My area is doubling within a week, has a higher rate per 100000 than many london boroughs but is still tier 1.

eleventylevennamechanges · 15/10/2020 12:17

I suppose this means I have to cancel the work on the house I had arranged? I won't be able to let workmen in.
Does anybody know if the builder can do some repairs outside?

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 15/10/2020 12:20

Do we know workmen cant come in? They could under oroginal lockdown as there was different rules for work.

LangClegsInSpace · 15/10/2020 12:23

Yes workmen can come in:

Where a group includes someone covered by an exception (for example, someone who is working), they are not generally counted as part of the gatherings limit. This means, for example, a tradesperson can go into a household without breaching the limit, if they are there for work.

eleventylevennamechanges · 15/10/2020 12:24

I honestly don't know. My local gov. website hasn't been updated since September, so no help there.

eleventylevennamechanges · 15/10/2020 12:25

Oh thank you Lang, cross posted.

KatherineJaneway · 15/10/2020 12:28

@pontypridd

I don't get what the panic is about. Tier 2 makes barely any difference to where we are now in London.
It's a huge difference.
peridito · 15/10/2020 12:40

I'm inclined to agree with pontypridd - we can still go to work and school ,go shopping etc .The only difference I can see is socialising with other people indoors .

I expect I've missed something ...

LIZS · 15/10/2020 12:53

Can anyone define "London" please - is it all London Boroughs or including other areas within m25?

CallmeFP · 15/10/2020 13:04

I get the feeling London will be placed back into Tier 1 after half term in two weeks.

pontypridd · 15/10/2020 13:14

@Dollywilde could you put your baby in a carrier or buggy and go for a walk with one of your friends instead?

This is what I've been doing since March - I don't have a newborn now, but used to walk a lot with mine when they were babies.

For many of us (particularly perhaps those like me who live alone) being able to socialise with people indoors makes an ENORMOUS difference to our lives.
pontypridd · 15/10/2020 13:16

It's a huge difference.

Please can you explain how @KatherineJaneway
I don't doubt that this might be true. But seeing the bare bones of the restrictions in Tier 2 and looking at my life as it is now, I can see no difference at all.

Stircrazyschoolmum · 15/10/2020 13:16

Bloody hell this is confusing!

Am I correct in assuming that DD can still see her tutor, attend guides and other Indoor extra curricular activities?

She can play with a friend at school and go to guides with them but said friend can’t have a play date at ours in between the two things? (Or would that count as childcare?) Confused

roarfeckingroarr · 15/10/2020 13:20

Anyone planning to comply?

pontypridd · 15/10/2020 13:20

Kids who are at school with each other all day school ... I for one won't be stopping them from playing with each other at home.

cheninblanc · 15/10/2020 13:34

Work won't change for me, but at a weekend it's unclear. It says reduce travel but it doesn't say essential only? So if we made one journey into Victoria but walked the rest no tube is that allowed? We would be one household

Hippopotamus1 · 15/10/2020 13:44

On this bit of guidance:

“ People must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place”

How does this work when you’re in a shop or the cinema? Presumably we can be in the same shop 2m apart from people outside your household as we’re not “meeting”?

Serialnamechanger20 · 15/10/2020 13:45

Well, people all have different lives! Lots of people go around to other people's houses often - with kids, to see family, to see friends, or meet in pubs/cafes with their friends - all of this will be banned.

It would have a massive impact on my life - and I'm not young free and single! Much more isolated, no playdates/meet ups with friends for coffee/family over for meals. We're still Tier 1 but I'm dreading Tier 2 tbh. Just need to hunker down for winter I guess...

pontypridd · 15/10/2020 13:49

“ People must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place”

So if we went swimming and accidentally bumped into some friends who had gone independently it would be fine for the kids to play alongside each other ...

Stircrazyschoolmum · 15/10/2020 13:51

ponty I agree with you, I can’t see how it makes any sense if they have already mixed that day?

I feel sorry for DS though. He can spend 6 hours in a classroom with his friends but not go to McDonald’s / Nando’s with them on the weekends. It’s hard to argue the logic to a teenager!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/10/2020 13:52

@ScatteredMama82

Help - we live in in tier 1 area. FIL is in London, lives alone. We had planned to travel and meet up halfway for a day in half term as he hasn't seen the DCs for ages. Our planned meeting point is also in Tier 1 (so far!) Are we now not allowed to do this? Is he allowed to travel from tier 2 to tier 1 and then be subject to tier 1 rules?
yes but only outdoors. As he is from a Tier 2 area he cannot be indoors with anyone outside his household.
