I'm so sorry, @Someaddedsugar

Of course it's a shock Flowers

InTheLongGrass · 13/10/2020 13:48

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandma, Someaddedsugar. Knowing it was coming still doesnt negate the fact it's actually happened. Take it easy on yourself. It sounds like you are going to gave some amazing g memories and stories to tell when the pain has faded a little. Flowers

@Snoringferret my understanding is that so long as your not planning on liverpool, or maybe the Scottish central belt as your destination, you are ok for an overnight stay if it's just your household.

gingercat02 · 13/10/2020 13:55

So Sorry for your loss someaddedsugar doesn't matter how much it was expected it's still sad to lose some one you love 💔
We are away at the weekend for a night in a posh hotel too but I reckon it's allowed so crack on enjoying your anniversary snoringferret

IggyAce · 13/10/2020 14:57

@Someaddedsugar sorry to hear about your grandma.
Such an awful day here so wet and windy, glad I’ve got panaculty in the slow cooker for tea.

Dowser · 13/10/2020 15:40

@iggyace
Weather is just awful isn’t it?

MissEWeatherwax · 13/10/2020 16:08

The weather is awful, winter is definitely coming. Before I was vegetarian, I use to love panaculty.

Shitfuckoh · 13/10/2020 16:44

What a day! what with Dc3 having to isolate due to 'close contact' as of yesterday, I've been 'home learning' with dc2. Just for DS1 to come home with a letter saying his school have had a positive case - he's not a close contact though thankfully but he does attend a special school with a few ECV pupils in it Sad
Feels like it's moving in quickly now.

PennyDreadfuI · 13/10/2020 18:33

Oh @Someaddedsugar I'm so sorry Flowers Of course it's a shock. It doesn't matter how much a loss is expected, nothing prepares you for it really. We're all here if you'd like to talk about your grandma - I bet you have lots of fantastic memories, if you want to share them we'd love to hear them ♥️

@Shitfuckoh Treeslets or whatever they're called are 90% crack I swear. DH is obsessed with them. Every year after Christmas when they're reduced he buys tons of them. The manic glint in his eye when he sees they're 50p a tub in Sainsbury's is quite chilling. Mind if we're careful and ration them (v v difficult) we can still be eating them at Easter. God they're good.

@Snoringferret oooh we're almost anniversary twins, ours is on Friday! We go to Edinburgh every year for it and booked back in January, but cancelled in April. We considered rebooking it in August when things were looking more hopeful, thank goodness we didn't.

Have a wonderful time and happy anniversary!

Hello I'm late finding you northerners but joining now from Tees Valley area Smile

swg1 · 13/10/2020 19:29

Durham figures for the 11th are looking really bad. (212 currently and I would usually expect that to get a big chunk added over the next few days.) Is that just the university does anyone know?

TheSilveryPussycat · 13/10/2020 20:11

I love Treeslets (they are a mutated form of Cheeselets), and am the same as PennyDreadful's DH after Christmas. May I also recommend Cathedral Bites.

Thinking of you and yours, Someaddedsugar.

Shitfuckoh · 13/10/2020 20:41

50p a tub?! The coop local to me charge £1 after Christmas and some twat still gets them before me

They are one of my favourite Christmas snacks. Can't beat sitting with the lights on, DC asleep in bed, relaxing with a baileys hot chocolate or coffee & Treeslets Grin

Durham University post their figures online. They state they'll update their figures weekly, usually on a Thursday.

As of Wednesday 7 October, we have had the following numbers of reported coronavirus cases amongst our staff and students:

New reported cases for the last 7 days 3 staff & 219 students.
Total reported since the start of term 1: 5 staff, 251 students.

PennyDreadfuI · 13/10/2020 20:47

Time for a Treeslets addiction support thread I think Grin

The Chronicle seems convinced we're going into Tier 3 doesn't it. Tbh I think all this tiers bollocks will last a few weeks and when it becomes clear that it isn't working, there'll be a lockdown proper. I think they'll do it in early November so they can lift it in time for Christmas, because being locked down over Christmas will be SO unpopular and nobody will take any notice anyway.

I've only just seen the death numbers for today. Very sobering (not that we weren't sobered enough already).

As an aside, is anyone having problems getting on to MN on Chrome via phones? I keep getting a 400 error code when I try. I'm using the app instead and I hate it with a passion.

PennyDreadfuI · 13/10/2020 20:49

@Shitfuckoh one year they were 15p a tub in Asda. 15p.

It took a long time to lose the Christmas weight that year.

Well I've had to move my night away anyway because my cat has become really poorly today Sad
She's not able to hold her head properly and the vet says it's potassium deficiency due to kidney disease. She's going in to be put on a drip tomorrow and will have to be monitored when she gets out.
She's only 3 and is my total baby so I'm pretty upset by it.

It is mostly 5ye University. The numbers dor Durham City centre are about 50 times those in my suburb.
Shitfuckoh · 13/10/2020 21:07

@Snoringferret
I'm sorry to hear about your cat, I hope the drip helps and that she gets through it okay x

@PennyDreadfuI
They do seem to think we're heading for Tier 3. Personally after the hassle I'm having with 1 school & the other now having a case there too, I'd welcome even a circuit break. Which is selfish I know but I fail to see how this Tiers business is even going to make any difference at all.
He's gone & allowed groups of up to 6 to meet in gardens, parks etc. Which no one is going to do in this weather. They're just going to go with ''Well if I can meet in your garden, I can come inside!''.

The death figures today are really upsetting, as we know any measures taken now will still see an increase in deaths over the next few weeks due to the 'lag'.

I was having that problem on my chromebook yesterday. Had to clear my cache to get rid of the error & seems fine since.

15p... 15 pence?! I'd have cleared out the store & then went to see if the next local one had any at the same price & my diet would have just been treelets! is now gutted that I paid £1.60 (which is less than last week!) in ASDA per tub this time

Someaddedsugar · 13/10/2020 21:07

Thanks everyone. It's lovely to have you all to talk to

I hope you're ok @Snoringferret - and I hope she's ok Thanks

Someaddedsugar · 13/10/2020 21:08

What's a Treeslet? I feel like I'm missing out on something!
