@PusheenLove

Guys, are we going into tier 4? I just received a phonecall from South Tyneside Council saying I've been added to the shielding list. I've never been on the list before??
I haven't read anything online but it wouldn't surprise me if everyone was heading for a full lockdown in January as it looks like that's happening elsewhere in the UK. Did they give any indication about why they were calling?
PickAChew · 21/12/2020 13:46

@Someaddedsugar

Pleased you got your visit to The Range too!
I didn't!! The plan was to walk there and get dh to pick me up when I was done but it was clear from the traffic that the plan was utter madness! I still got a good walk out of it, though.
Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 13:53

Apologies - i read it as you'd gone and got a lift back! Such a shame!

Fingers crossed you'll get to do the walk soon! Although hopefully on a nicer day than today!

My parents have just said the Sainsbury's near to them has empty veg shelves!

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 13:59

We hD a sainsburys order delivered this morning and everything was there, though the carrots we got were about pony carrot grade do I might look for some nicer ones, tomorrow.

The perils of making an order 3 weeks ago and randomly editing it - I ended up with 3 pots of pineapple, a pot of melon and 2 whole melons!

PusheenLove · 21/12/2020 14:47

To offer me priority assistance re: shopping, etc.

Seems they are adding people to shielding that we're not previously shielding.

MissEWeatherwax · 21/12/2020 14:54

How you are okay @Someaddedsugar. Will your test place be Sniperley park and ride. No queues for test last week ( i went shopping, not for test).
Apparently queues for M&S at Arnison, way past Boots and snaking.
I’ve an online shop for tomorrow night and have veg box getting delivered later and meat from Broom house farm( they will delivery if needed).
So sorted, other than bits and bots that we can live without if needed.
Do have online orders coming, but can’t remember everything I ordered Blush
praying no symptoms so can visit DP and my DSis.
Im resigned to tier 4/lockdown really.
The weather is awful. Today is winter solstice isn’t?

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 14:55

It looks like there's more scope for doctors to add people to the CEV register who aren't on the main list, now.

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 14:57

I have a collection slot at m&s do walk past the main queue. I've booked slots for the past couple of weeks, too. I spend a lot there on groceries so waltz straight in without a tinge of guilt :o

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 14:59

It is the solstice, yes. Radcliffe and Maconie did a solstice show, yesterday morning, which was nice.

Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 15:05

@MissEWeatherwax Sniperley yes - just been and in and out really quick which was good. Results in 48 hours apparently. Just hoping it's negative as DP has asthma and I really wouldn't want him to get it as cold/flu illnesses always make him really ill as it is!

Hope the click and collect is a quick process for you @PickAChew - I can imagine a lot of people will be stocking up on other non-essentials in case we do move to tier 4 at some point!

The weather's awful isn't it. I keep feeling like the weather senses the general mood!

MissEWeatherwax · 21/12/2020 15:13

PickAChew, that will feel really good, by-passing the queue.
Re the solstice, shame I haven’t see the sun today. Has felt dark all day. But days getting lighter now. Spring is coming, with it hopeBlush
I’ll get my coat.Blush

PusheenLove · 21/12/2020 15:30

I have just left the MetroCentre. It's busy but not too bad. Anyone else out shopping today?

Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 15:40

That's good @PusheenLove - I'd have thought it would have been really busy today with last minute shoppers.

@MissEWeatherwax hope you get to see your family at Christmas.

It's so foggy here! I've just looked out of the window and it's like looking straight into a white sheet!

I really hope Spring brings better things! I'm also hoping this spring has as lovely weather as last spring!

DP's just said there's a press conference been called for 5pm. I wonder what joy they'll be announcing today!

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 15:44

The only upside to today's dismal weather is that it hasn't been windy and the rain never got really heavy, so it wasn't unpleasant to walk in. I find bright sunshine worse because I dazzle so easily and the glare gives me a headache.

My collection tomorrow is for the Christmas mains we would have taken to my parents'. Given the demolition job done on the batch of cinnamon buns I made yesterday, I can't see it going to waste.

And get this - Ds1 let me make him a tuna sandwich, yesterday! (would be bloody typical if we end up with a cucumber shortage due to the closed ports!)

MissEWeatherwax · 21/12/2020 15:57

Yes the sun is so low down , this time of year, very dazzling. The last sunny day, I drove a roundabout way to the shops to avoid the sunBlush. The mist is horrible, but strangely wonderful and atmospheric at the same time.
Not sure if I can face watching press conference. Think I will watch Pointless if they put on BBC 2.
My DD has gone last minute Christmas shopping today at Newcastle, have asked her to look for a Christmas Colin the Caterpillar cakeBlush

Someaddedsugar · 21/12/2020 16:41

A Christmas Colin the Caterpillar sounds incredible!

@PickAChew that's amazing re the sandwich - I hope there are plenty of cucumbers in store across the Durham shops Smile.

DS has just informed me he doesn't like bananas anymore as they are too spicy Hmm. This announcement came after I spent ages making a Pinterest worthy toast Santa (essentially just a piece of toast with a banana beard and a strawberry hat). I'm sure he does it deliberately every time I choose to make something I'm proud of!

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 16:56

Mmm. Spicy bananas.

PusheenLove · 21/12/2020 17:02

Colin!! I would have thought Aldi would have created a knock off version.

MissEWeatherwax · 21/12/2020 17:52

M&S make the best, Colin! I want the original and the bestBlush
Someaddedsugar that’s sounds lovely. I love banana on toast, can’t just eat a banana on its own( it feels wrong, was never allowed when I was a child. It had to be either sandwich or on toast).
I would still photograph it and post on Instagram, without mentioning he didn’t like itBlush

Hi folks, I am a bit of a blow-in here (I am in Kent, tier 4 Sad ) but in case you are interested or would find it useful...

I produce a table of daily cases in each council in England every day from the government's daily coronavirus data release.

Yesterday I also built in functionality so you can filter by county which makes it easy to see the cases and cases per 100K in all the councils in your county.

I felt the county filtering functionality was important as tiering appears now to be very much decided at county level so being able to see what is happening in all your surrounding councils in your county is particularly helpful, I think.

Feel free to use and share with family and friends. I update it everyday with the data released in the daily data release from the govt.

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 18:20

I've just been using this coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

Did she manage to get you one?! I didn't even know a Christmas one was available! Might have to ask the in laws if they'll have a look when they're there getting their Christmas food shop.

Haha! I sadly didn't photo it but DP said it was lovely so at least someone enjoyed it.

PickAChew · 21/12/2020 18:48

He does look pretty dapper in his festive getup.

I have a banana for breakfast every day. Usually on muesli, sometimes on porridge, occasionally on its own. I can take or leave most fruit but can't be without me daily narner.
