Does anyone know what the blip is with Newton hall’s figures?

PickAChew · 09/12/2020 23:34

My own area is so small that half a dozen cases can take us from light blue to red. Newton Hall is the same. It's basically a couple of families or a few kids from a class in a school. They were all very low a few days ago.

Well I may be at the lower end of the top priority risk for the covid but I get my flu vaccine, next week and my appointment is at nine minutes past the hour 😂

MissEWeatherwax · 10/12/2020 00:16

I was wondering if it was something like that. I know Fram school’s bubbles keep bursting. But it is a large school.
I’ve already had my flu vaccine. Employer paid.
This thread is very quiet.

PickAChew · 10/12/2020 00:34

Yeah, I think we're all resigned to the same old same old, at the moment.

I think St Leonard's bubbles must be bursting, too, as we're missing a lot of passing faces in the morning.

TheSilveryPussycat · 10/12/2020 10:32

I had my flu jab a few weeks ago. My appointment was at 10.57. There was a well mannered queue of us, all with times precise to the minute. This worked very well.

NUFC69 · 10/12/2020 10:32

I had my flu vaccine back in September: I am 72 so can get it at the GP, but after several years of queuing there we gave up and go to one of the local chemists. This year the local Boots had leaflets out in August saying when it would be available, and giving a phone number to ring to make an appointment. I would certainly recommend doing it this way if you can. My DH is back at the RVI on Monday for another Covid19 Vaccine check up (he's a volunteer tester). They are looking after him so well.

PickAChew · 10/12/2020 23:02

I'm in my 50s so only recently became eligible for the free jab. I think the last time I even set foot in boots was August. I've just not really been into places to see what they're offering and I hadn't noticed any of the usual signs around sainsburys, the few times I've been in. Both our boots stores are a long walk away and the gp is a very short walk so no brainer. It's on top of a gym and several pokestops if the queue ends up a few minutes out.

I need a post office, tomorrow, to send something airmail. Very much doubt I'll make it for the van at 9am, so that will be a long walk, whatever the weather. I think I'll use the one in the arse end of the estate rather than the one in the bowels of our tiny whsmith.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 11/12/2020 17:35

St L is indeed bursting all over the place Pick, yet are doing their best but it is crazy. I get the twitches any time i get an email.

Buying our tree this weekend, may actually go against all my usual rules and put it up. Wouldn't normally until next weekend at the earliest.

MissEWeatherwax · 12/12/2020 11:37

Anyone local to Chester le Street at the Riverside park , there is tree that people are hanging decorations on. When I next go, I’m taking a decoration, it such a lovely idea.
Anyone hoping we can go into tier 2. I’m so sick of the rain and the dampness.

TheSilveryPussycat · 12/12/2020 13:29

Sounds like you think the weather will improve if we go to Tier 2 Wink

MissEWeatherwax · 12/12/2020 14:00

I know I should have started another paragraph!
But it will definitely improve my mood if we move into tier 2.
I will go sit in a coffee shop and have a slice of cake and a cappuccino and watch the world go by!
But we won’t go into tier 2. And I’ll just get madder because people aren’t obeying the rules of no household mixingAngry. While I speak to my over 80’s DP outside their garden!

Someaddedsugar · 12/12/2020 16:49

@MissEWeatherwax I'm heading there on Wednesday so will take a decoration with me. What a lovely idea!

I'm also getting very sick of the weather - it feels like it's been raining forever!

MissEWeatherwax · 12/12/2020 18:29

It has been raining forever! Everything is so damp and muddy. Chester park is getting busier and busier. I have to keep stepping off the path into the mud. I hope I can find the tree Blush.

PickAChew · 12/12/2020 18:56

I spent a lot of time walking on mud, just heading to the Post office, yesterday.

It's the dark that's getting to me. Needing the lights on all day.

Someaddedsugar · 13/12/2020 09:15

The weather forecast for next week looks better! Monday looks as it has been this week but Tuesday looks like it should be nice!

Yamashita40 · 13/12/2020 18:58

Things I'd like to do if we move into tier 2...
Zumba classes, I hate zoom ones
Eat out with family
Cosy outdoor beer gardens with friends
Soft play
Trampoline parks

I've been told we're going into tier 2 but I think it's just wishful thinking.

MissEWeatherwax · 14/12/2020 16:59

It didn’t rain today. So hopefully my walk tomorrow will be better than last week. Not as muddy.

PickAChew · 14/12/2020 17:33

I'm looking forward to a more pleasant walk, tomorrow, too. Knowing my luck, the sun will be in my eyes. 😎

MissEWeatherwax · 14/12/2020 17:41

PickAChew, you will be going south, so it will be. Lucky there are lots of trees, so that should help.

PickAChew · 14/12/2020 19:02

North, thankfully but the east-west roads can be dazzly.

Someaddedsugar · 14/12/2020 20:19

So pleased the weather's been just that bit brighter today! Definitely makes a difference. Although working from home I forget how much the light changes so quickly - I joined a call this afternoon with the sun shining through the window, and ended it sat in darkness 45 minutes later!

MissEWeatherwax · 14/12/2020 20:48

For some reason, I thought you would head south. But my sense of direction is dreadful.
Driving home from shopping tonight, the Christmas lights are lovely. Quite a few families out looking too. Saw a lovely display of a little herd of deers. Very tasteful.
Yes, it barely gets light then it’s dark again. Countdown to the shortest day.

TheSilveryPussycat · 14/12/2020 20:54

Yes, I used to live west of Durham, horrendous driving along the A690 when the sun is setting.

I was going to have a walk, then didn't. Did get to the Arnison thouh, and bought some nice food, mainly pastry based Blush

PickAChew · 14/12/2020 21:01

Yeah, that happens while I'm waiting for ds2's transport to bring him home. I sit down in a light-ish room and it can be dark by the time he gets back, if he's delayed.

MissEWeatherwax · 15/12/2020 12:10

Found the tree, it’s in near the Alice in Wonderland. The tree looks lovely. Hung my bauble.
