Will we be in tier two tomorrow I wonder..

Someaddedsugar · 15/12/2020 21:42

Does anyone know if the cafe is open at Chester Park?

Dowser · 15/12/2020 21:49

Ah, here you all are.
Thankfully the weather has been a lot better these two last days
Not that we’ve done very much
Mr d has had a bad foot and could barely walk.
Tonight, when putting shopping in the fridge he dropped something on his bad foot again, which was just starting to get better.

I expect thats Northallerton out of the question tomorrow

Newpuppymummy · 15/12/2020 22:08

The cafe is open at Chester park and the ice cream man has still been there every time we’ve been

Newpuppymummy · 15/12/2020 22:08

I can’t see us being in tier 2. I think some places will go up but no one will go down

PickAChew · 15/12/2020 22:25

I can't see anyone going down yet, either.

Slightly anxious about the suggestion of limiting travel over Christmas.

Someaddedsugar · 16/12/2020 06:31

Hope he's ok @Dowser !

Another doubtful we'll move to tier 2 as our figures seem to fluctuate more than other areas. Such a shame for the hospitality industry and all of those that supply it - I really do feel for them.

Fingers crossed travel is still allowed @PickAChew - do you need to go far?

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 09:41

Yes, the cafe is open. Went past yesterday and all I could smell was chips.
What’s happened to the weather again, I hate it.
I clinging to the 5 day Christmas, we have been so good. My DP are so looking forward to it, there will be no hugging. My DM is still too scared.
My youngest won’t have been to school since last week, so she should be safe. She isn’t leaving house, as is too cold for her.
I hope they don’t change anything about Christmas.
With our figures we definitely deserve tier 2! We are now second half and same as most tier 2 figures. I want to sit in a coffee shop and go to a restaurant for food.

PickAChew · 16/12/2020 09:59

About 100 miles, @Someaddedsugar. Same tier as us but who knows what the rules will end up being.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 11:35

@PickAChew , I know you said your DS loves buses. Did you see that the Santa bus is coming around Durham about 3.45 today.
Test centre at Sniperley park and ride. It’s not busy.

PickAChew · 16/12/2020 12:42

Ooh, he was up for a walk.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 14:54

@PickAChew there is the map on the website. It’s coming though Wilton Gilbert, Aykley Heads then Durham city then onto Belmont ( think). I think there are live updates on Facebook page.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 15:00

6.30 pm for Wilton Gilbert approximately past Travelers Rest pub, hope that gives idea of times.
Think it’s a brilliant idea. It’s a open top bus, I think Santa is on top desk.
Lots of people asking for times on the Facebook page. It’s also going though Chester le street.

PickAChew · 16/12/2020 16:01

Ah, we'll be having tea, then, unfortunately.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/12/2020 18:37

@PickAChew Bus is running quite late, maybe you could still see it.

Someaddedsugar · 16/12/2020 21:58

@MissEWeatherwax and @TheSilveryPussycat how do you find out about the bus? I missed the updates as haven't been on MN today - such a shame as DS would have loved that!

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 22:07

@Someaddedsugar it was on the GoNortheast Facebook page. They are going other places, so I would check. You might be able to catch somewhere else.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 22:11

It’s on there website too. They will be at Chester le street again on Sunday. They are also giving updates on Twitter.
They are all over north east until Sunday. Good luck.

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/12/2020 22:53

DD (29!) and me (68!) tried to see it but we think it might have taken a more direct route into Durham than planned.

I'm not giving up easily - must check out the other routes.

MissEWeatherwax · 16/12/2020 23:22

On there Facebook page they have a list of everywhere they are going. Santa bus every early evening until last one Sunday. Was very busy with comments this evening. Most people happy!

gingercat02 · 17/12/2020 11:37

Santa bus is coming to Whitley Bay on Tuesday 🎅🚍. In less good news looks like Tees Valley is staying in Tier 3. No news on the rest of the region yet. I can't decide if I want released or not!

ScottishStottie · 17/12/2020 12:07

Stuck in tier 3 it seems....

PickAChew · 17/12/2020 12:22

No surprise, really.

We didn't get out to look for the bus. Google photos reminded me that it's a year ago this week. Since the last bus event we attended - GNE hosted a farewell event for a vehicle type that was about to be completely withdrawn at their Saltmeadows depot. Sigh.

Florelei · 17/12/2020 13:18

Hello, I’m torn about remaining in tier 3 if I’m honest. On the one hand it would be lovely to have a bit more freedom and for business owners to be able to make some money at this crucial time of year. On the other hand, I was worried that our cases were still a little too high.

It’s just awful at the minute.

TheSilveryPussycat · 17/12/2020 14:51

Still in Tier 3
There is a decorated Angel bus, a 21 (hooray as I am just off Fram front street!) Apparently trackable on the Go North East app. Looking forward to seeing it, I hope.
