Anyone local to Chester le Street. The Santa bus will be at Chester le Street, 11.40 am Christmas Eve. Hope that helps.
I’m feeling very down, re tier 3.

PickAChew · 17/12/2020 16:13

The angel is a great idea. Apparently it took them a whole week to get it kitted out with lights, music and vinyls. We can't see this side from our house, so I hope the other side is as good.

I think we might have been on that type of bus, because the other day when went to Newcastle, we were on the bus with Christmas music and everything. I enjoyed the Christmas music. I live a sad lifeBlush

Someaddedsugar · 17/12/2020 18:05

@MissEWeatherwax

It’s on there website too. They will be at Chester le street again on Sunday. They are also giving updates on Twitter. They are all over north east until Sunday. Good luck.
Thank you! Looking now!

Having a bit of a nightmare today - we've just found out one of the team at DS' pre-school is isolating awaiting test results and it's just occurred to me that if they are positive then we're isolating over Christmas!!

Bit of a what would you do - if they come back negative, would you send DS on Monday and Tuesday next week or make tomorrow his last day? I know it could be caught anywhere but I'm now in two minds about what to do for the best!

We're not doing a big family Christmas but my DPs are coming for a few hours on Christmas Eve and we have a Christmas Day morning walk planned with DM&FIL!

Someaddedsugar · 17/12/2020 18:09

Our trip to the Santa bus will obviously depend on the outcome of this test! I've worked out I think we'll be isolating until next Sunday if we do need to.

MissEWeatherwax · 17/12/2020 19:17

I would keep him off. My DSis hasn’t allowed her DD back to school this week, just come out of a 2 week self isolation again. To save Christmas with our parents. I would be selfish and do what’s best for you. Good luck.

Anyone got the Go NE app? I can't figure out how to track the Angel bus. Website implies it can be found by its vehicle number (not route number).

Sympathy to all you parents of school aged children BrewBrew

Someaddedsugar · 17/12/2020 19:55

That's my thinking at the moment @MissEWeatherwax - it's so hard knowing what do to do for the best! DS loves pre-school and he'll be gutted to miss next week but then there's a part of me that thinks it's just a risk!

MissEWeatherwax · 17/12/2020 20:03

@TheSilveryPussycat, I have the app. My DD finds it easy, but I try and track by time than just sort of look and zoom every bus near where I want.
The Facebook page is very helpful. If they are online. They get back to you really quickly.

MissEWeatherwax · 17/12/2020 20:20

Just checked and if you find the bus you want say 21 and find it on map and click on it. It gives you bus vehicle number.

MissEWeatherwax · 18/12/2020 20:51

Anyone depressed we are staying in tier 3, even though, we are now in bottom third of country. Co Durham.

Someaddedsugar · 18/12/2020 21:20

I had a bit of a cry this evening and I think it's the realisation that the virus isn't going anywhere fast (although it does seem to be lessening in the north east) and the worry that we're going to be in another lockdown from January and so in the north east we'll have been under additional restrictions since September.

You need to scour the bus route.

Better to use bustimes.org as that follows all the boards. Helpful to know the fleet number, though.

PickAChew · 18/12/2020 22:32

And yeah, we're going to stumble through to Easter not really much better off than now, aren't we. I couldn't resist this Christmas card in paperchase.

I'm not far off the Co Durham wtf blip, mind, though I wouldn't be surprised if a party went on there.

Someaddedsugar · 19/12/2020 07:01

That card is fab @PickAChew Grin

MissEWeatherwax · 19/12/2020 19:25

The card is now wrong, isn’t? Isn’t tier 4, lockdown by another name. So that’s the north east going into tier 4 in new year.

gingercat02 · 19/12/2020 19:30

The whole country is going back into lockdown after Christmas IMO. On and off until summer There is no other way out of this 😭😭😭😭

PickAChew · 19/12/2020 19:34

Yeah, it's all shit, now. And dh was his usual unempathetic self which pissed me off even more. I refused to cook and he ended up going to bell's for dinner.

If it wasn't for ds2 we could have gone down for the day but we have Ds2 so it is what it is.

I taught my mum some new swear words when the announcement was made, though.

MissEWeatherwax · 19/12/2020 20:01

Yes, it’s just shit now. Another boring day with a glorified Sunday lunch. I’m so sorry @PickAChew, that you can’t see your parents. I know you were so looking forward to it.
Have that bus ride to see Fenwicks window.
The Santa bus is going to Chester le Street, Christmas Eve, so I’m definitely going down the street to see it.

PickAChew · 19/12/2020 20:14

Dh is off, next week, for the first time since July, so I'm definitely taking that walk to The Range, while they're open. And a trip to Newcastle is definitely overdue.

Someaddedsugar · 19/12/2020 20:14

@PickAChew . I know it would go against the rules but would you be able to go for a few days anyway? I'm all for following the rules and guidance but sometimes I think you've got to do what's right for you.

My sister's unable to come home now and we were going to have a mini toast to Grandma. Won't be the same without her so we're now having our own individual Christmases and will meet up when we can.

There's a very bitter part of me that thinks if we'd been moved to Tier 4 that the 5 day window wouldn't have changed.

I'm planning on taking DS to see the Santa bus too @MissEWeatherwax - and then to MacDonalds apparently as that's where you get the carrots for the reindeers Hmm. Clearly advertising does work!

MissEWeatherwax · 19/12/2020 20:24

Enjoy your Macdonalds, make sure you get them special carrotsSmile.
You might see me at CHL, I’ll be the middle aged woman with no children.Blush

PickAChew · 19/12/2020 20:27

@Someaddedsugar my parents' neighbour will probably have a house full, regardless, as they have all along, but it wouldn't feel right and Ds1 wouldn't be comfortable with rule breaking. Tearing down the A1 on Christmas Eve would probably be a wee bit obvious, anyhow.

Erm... I asked DS if he wanted to see the Santa bus and he said not really and then looked at me and asked if I did. I said yes and he did a very teenage sigh and said ok then. He's 3 Grin. Definitely going for me Blush
