@gingercat02

Teesside Mayor on Look North tonight saying when not if they.go into Tier 3 next week. Apparently the Tyne/Wear/Durham councils are still in discussions with the government. NTC warning our numbers have gone up this week all over social media 😪
Was that the whole of the North East or just Teesside? I can't keep up with it all. A few hours ago I was reading announcements that Durhams figures had slowed in the last 7 days. Rather, rising but much slower than anywhere else.

I don't want Tier 3 but I do really wish they'd make their minds up now.

InTheLongGrass · 30/10/2020 21:08

My understanding was the Newcastle/Northumbria/Durham cluster was staying in tier 2.
Teesside all going to tier 3 - although I think the Teesside numbers are dropping too. Just Stockton and Boro, Sunderland and Gateshead over 300/100,000 when I last looked.
But with the Northern Echo as my source for the tiers, it could be very wrong!

Shitfuckoh · 30/10/2020 21:43

Ah. Are they likely to keep some in tier 2 and some in tier 3? What's to stop people in tier 3 going to tier 2 for a pint? I know that can be said for anywhere in Tier 3 but there's not much distance between what could be tier 3 and parts of tier 2.

I do hope @PennyDreadfuI is okay.

Someaddedsugar · 30/10/2020 21:56

@Shitfuckoh I wondered the same thing - Darlington and Durham aren't that far apart and even a smaller trip from Darlington to Spennymoor would be a change in tiers surely?

Are support bubbles allowed in tier 3 to help those who might otherwise struggle alone?

MissEWeatherwax · 30/10/2020 22:20

Durham’s figures have really dropped in the last 7 days. But I still feel they want us in tier 3. Hope everyone has a nice Halloween, first time in years we won’t be seating in dark not answering door.

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 00:05

If the rumours are to be believed, it's all bloody academic, anyway. Sigh....

Hopefully, the fabric I've ordered comes on Monday, as promised, so I can go get some thread for it on Tuesday. A couple more pairs of pyjamas should keep me busy through November.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 07:12

@PickAChew would you be able to advise on where I could get some fabric to make a tiny crown and cape for a teeny teddy for DS' stocking? I am not a sewer but want to give it a go however haven't got a clue what type of fabric I would need.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 07:15

We're meant to be at Wheelbirks this morning on a sweet hunt however DP has just told me the heavy rain is due to start at the same time as the event starts so not sure it'll go ahead...

For anyone with younger children, Lanchester Garden Centre are apparently putting on Christmas themed forest schools. I took DS to an autumn themed one last week and he really enjoyed it. I think they go on sale at the back end of next week but they didn't give a specific date.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 31/10/2020 07:29

I'm working today but our village has done a trail to encourage people to decorate and put pumpkins out and they've done a map with all the locations so a friend and I took our kids out on a walk round yesterday which was nice. I'm sure mine will want to go after dark again today.

I'm ignoring tier 3 talk but also panicking and thinking I must finish Christmas shopping before we end up in lockdown again. Which I don't think will happen due to the desire to keep the economy going. But still stressing.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 07:48

DP has just been looking through Twitter and the papers are claiming national lockdown from Wednesday with a press conference to announce it on Monday. Apparently it'll be four weeks to get a grip on things before Christmas. I have to say I wasn't actually expecting that one - tier 3 yes but not a national lockdown... Feeling really down now.

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 08:52

If it's not going to get handled heavily, felt would be best for the crown as it's quite firm and easy to handle. The Cape could be made out of anything that drapes well - an old top or t-shirt could do the trick, though they would need hemming. There's a stall in the market hall that sells craft fabrics or the range is worth a look. @mseweatherwax mentioned goldstitch, which I haven't investigated or there's a hobbycraft on team valley or teesside Park.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 09:16

@PickAChew Brill thank you! I'll have to go and have a look!

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 09:54

Yes, I think the Government have done what they always do and leaked it to the media. Typical. Now wondering whether I'm ever going to get the stocking fillers & wrapping paper. I can order some online but it's not the same. I fully appreciate it's a small thing, just seems like another thing that's gone wrong this year.

MissEWeatherwax · 31/10/2020 12:36

If you are local to C-H-L , Boyes has lots of fabric and every colour felt. It’s upstairs, crafters heaven.
It is cold today and so windy today, I feel so depressed. Sorry fabric was for @Someaddedsugar

swg1 · 31/10/2020 12:45

I have The Utter Rage today. I'm charging around utterly pissed off and I just WANT someone to try justifying this shitty communication policy to me so I can tear them apart. I'm so so angry.

I know that we're going to spend the weekend alternating between fury and depression and then there'll be the news on Monday and probably a bit of a cry on Tuesday and by Thursday I'll probably be even keel again. But right now it's The Rage.

I want to write to my MP but I can't actually gather enough polite words to do that correctly rather than addressing him as "You fucking fucker".

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 12:52

@swg1
I'm raging at the leaking to the media again. Just speak to us like grown ups and quick pissing about with it. I've become to dread reading/watching anything at the weekend now as there seems to be that 'drip drip drip' going on and it's usually right before or during the weekend.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 12:58

Thank you! I need to go to the bank in CLS on Monday (assuming any lockdown of non-essential shops comes after then!) so will have a look then!
Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 13:02

The one thing I can't understand from reading any of the articles is what will actually be locked down - are they expecting anyone who isn't able to work from home to stay at home - how will that work as who will pay them to do that? Unless on Monday they announce they're extending the furlough scheme I suppose. In our street there are a number of people who work in various trades and are working 6 or 7 days a week at the moment as they're still working through a backlog of jobs from the first lockdown - what will happen to their jobs? I feel very lucky that I can work from home but not everyone where I work can and I'm concerned for them - it's hard enough right now without knowing how you're going to put food on the table.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 13:03

Ugh. Manage to get myself drawn in to an argument regarding the lockdown. I hate the fact that areas like ours are being blamed for cases getting out of control. Apparently if we were all more responsible then a lockdown wouldn't be needed. I think I'm going to need to step away from online for a bit!

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 13:12

I'm quite selective about where I venture on t'internet, these days. It's no longer the light relief I need.

I'd forgotten all about boyeses.

The apocalyptic weather is not helping my mood. Dreadful night's sleep due to things going bump in the night. I was out after midnight in my pyjamas but couldn't see anything amiss but it turned out that I'd probably disturbed an attempted break in, nearby. Jittery as fuck, today.

MissEWeatherwax · 31/10/2020 13:13

I know, I haven’t hugged my elderly DP for nearly 9 months. I social distance. I don’t go or do anything, because everything I like doing is closed or not allowed. I like cinema/theatre and pottering around. I am a homebody, but so sick of my home.
Durham’s rate is coming down. It definitely feels like we are being punished. I need to go back to the AD thread.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 13:23

Press conference at 4pm today. If it's got Boris Johnson working on a weekend then it must be newsworthy.. bad news Nervous that whatever it is, he's doing weekends for it or any work at all

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 13:36

Just a few days ago, we were praised as the model of bringing levels down.

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 13:39

And yeah, we go to the shops for stuff we need and we go for walks. That is it. The prospect of another lock down still fills me with dread, though.

TheSilveryPussycat · 31/10/2020 13:56

My theory is they leaked it so people could panic buy stock up this weekend.
I was planning on going to the Arnison but I think I will leave it for a couple of days...
