@TheSilveryPussycat I was in B&M at Consett this morning - trolleys full of toilet roll and tinned food. It's just madness and not fair on people. We shouldn't have to live in a state of panic!

Hope you're ok @Shitfuckoh.

Apologies - that was meant for @PickAChew (hope you're ok too though @Shitfuckoh!

I fucking hate all this leaking or I'd I'm being generous pre briefing shit. I'm rally in edge now waiting for the 5pm press conference.

Trying do do some crafts today. How's everyone else doing?

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/10/2020 16:20

I've been to Dunelm today to pick up the koala blanket my DD pointed out that she was putting on her Xmas list, as Dunelm won't be an essential shop.

I also went to visit my parents in case I'm not allowed to next week.

And I did my weekly food shop, plenty loo roll and pasta etc in Asda, but I know via fb that other local friends have seen empty shelves in other supermarkets.

I'm lucky that I can wfh and have been since March, but appreciate that others are not as fortunate and maybe facing further financial hardship ☹️

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/10/2020 16:23

@PennyDreadfuI I hope both you and your daughter are ok. I haven't seen a post from you since the 19th I think.

Thinking of you and your family Thanks

Plussizejumpsuit · 31/10/2020 16:28

I've been really unfocused on anything this last week or two except I've been doing some reporting on one of my freelance jobs
Well my only one right now. I have needed to pop out to do various things. But now I'm feeling quite greatful I got them done. So understand getting the bits from Dunelm you need. @gingeristhenewblack43

We went to pink lane bakery this morning in Newcastle. So I'm having one of their cheese and onion pasties with waffel chips and beans for tea. We rarely eat at tea time but had no lunch so need a big carby meal to make this press conference manageable.

Were also lucky in we can work from home and our jobs are fairly secure. (as anyone's is now) and I'm still feeling anxious. Can't imagine how people are feeling who are struggling financially waiting for this announcement.

Has anyone heard from @PennyDreadfuI I'm worried. Last time she commented her daughter was ill.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 16:47

Another hoping @PennyDreadfuI is ok.

I've got a click and collect order due next week so hope it comes on or before Wednesday.

DP has just read something from Robert Peston saying this is essentially tier 4 restrictions for a month and will be reviews on 2 December. From what was in the article, pubs etc will close but construction and trades will be encouraged to continue working. No reference to how those affected will be paid for so I hope they're planning to support everyone who works in what they're classing as non-essential retail!

I might be wrong but I think the article said social bubbles and childcare support bubbles can continue where needed and I'm hoping that's clarified this evening as I know there are quite a few people local to me who live alone and are elderly and I'd hate to think they're on their own for another month, especially with the dark nights.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 16:57

Well we've randomly throughout the day, been having a halloween party of sorts.
Just had and finished party food, the DC have had way too much sugar, enumbers & may not sleep due to the excitement from it all but they're happy and that's the main thing. May not be able to offer them much right now, due to all the rules changing but we can have lovely times at home. Scoob for movie night in a little bit so hoping that might calm them a little!

Haha @Someaddedsugar I looked through my last couple of posts to see if I'd put something that meant I wasn't, then I saw the follow up post Blush

I have my next couple of slots booked with ASDA, which is usual. Hope there's no issues with slots going forward Confused
Just waiting for this announcement now to see what joys await.

BessieSurtees · 31/10/2020 17:02

I’ve been feeling flat this week and feeling resigned to lockdown. I’ve been working at home since March, online shopping, DH in construction, social bubble with one DD and really apart from walks that’s been my life the last six months.

Waiting for the announcement now ....

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 17:31

After 6 now apparently but I've been told it's 6:30 now... NEU & University unions saying if full lockdown is needed then schools & Unis need to close too (according to the BBC)

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 17:58

I've just heard them say it's expected households will be able to meet with one other person outside - realistically if the one other person is elderly or vulnerable that's not going to be a good idea is it! Especially with the horrid weather at the moment.

It feels like it's turning into a complete shit show at the moment.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 18:25

& if that's a single person from another household, can they only mean 1 person from another household? So basically families can't meet 1 person outside? Only 1 person with 1 person? Confused

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 19:02

It makes absolutely no sense.
BessieSurtees · 31/10/2020 19:14

For me this means I carry on as I have been. He should have shut pubs early on and furloughed the staff it would have been cheaper in the long run.

They really need to sort this track and trace, so much money wasted on a system that doesn't work.

Years of underfunding have left the NHS unable to cope.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 19:44

I think I'll be forced to take holidays or unpaid leave for childcare now - grandparents look after DS two days a week but it doesn't look like that'll be able to go ahead anymore.

Other than that I don't think anything has changed for our house.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 19:46

Just to clarify I mean forced as no other option as I haven't ever been furloughed so that isn't an option. I've just realised that looks like my boss will force me to! I'm lucky to have a supportive employer but a 3 year old doesn't mix with full time work!

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 19:46

Bubbles are still allowed but I suppose we'd have to wait for the details on that.

Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 19:47

A colleague was telling me that if they'd let the first lockdown run a bit longer and continued the furlough longer they'd have saved money overall as the amount that will need to be paid out in Jobseeker's Allowance and other schemes will be so much more.
Someaddedsugar · 31/10/2020 19:48

The BBC have just said households can mix for childcare but I'm not sure if they mean households where the parents don't live together or childcare for young children... hopefully it'll be clarified early enough for us all to make alternative plans where needed.

I hope everyone on this thread is ok Thanks

PickAChew · 31/10/2020 20:12

We're extremely fortunate to be carrying on the same as usual. The Swedish government is paying for dh's current contract. They don't tend to underfund things.

BessieSurtees · 31/10/2020 20:14

He said children could move between households if they live separately but didn't mention childcare (unless your in a bubble). I'm constantly amazed how much they miss out of these briefings creating more questions than answers.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 20:16

BBC did say for childcare and\or support bubbles. I assume that to be Informal childcare too so I think you're safe with that one

BessieSurtees · 31/10/2020 20:22

Oh I didn't realise there were childcare bubbles.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/10/2020 20:26

From what I took from the briefing bubbles can continue for informal childcare (such as grandparents looking after their grandchildren, or aunts, uncles, family friends) but only one bubble. And for children whose parents don't live in the same household they can stay with the none resident parent too.

Shitfuckoh · 31/10/2020 20:27

I think its more informal childcare. So provided by family members. Which of course needed changing when we entered our restrictions here! Only going off what he.. mumbled and what the BBC said so please don't hold me to it 😂
