Yeah, goldstitch looks lovely. Makes me wish could drive - in normal times I could just hop on the angel to check it out.

MissEWeatherwax · 26/10/2020 13:11

Yes, is a short walk up hill from Red Lion stop. The X20 goes though Arnison centre and though Nettlesworth. Just might be nicer waiting for return bus and no A167 to get across. In normal times she is open on a evening sometimes.
She has a lovely selection of fabrics.

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 13:12

I've been using one of the tilly and the buttons books. Her patterns are really straightforward and even her beginner ones look good made up.

Dowser · 26/10/2020 13:43

Went to broom house back at end of March for some meat as it said the cafe was open
It wasn’t.
I hope Jane is a bit more relaxed than she was that day

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 14:08

I think everyone in a public facing job was a bit jumpy at the end of March.

MissEWeatherwax · 26/10/2020 14:34

@Dowser, yes Jane is a lot more relaxed now. You still have to wash your hands and queue and no more than 6 in shop. The coffee shop is definitely open. You can even sit in now. We go most weeks for meat/milk etc and normally get a coffee to go.
They had flour and yeast at height of lockdown. At first we use to do toot and collect, but I like a browse.

MissEWeatherwax · 26/10/2020 14:36

Does anyone think someone not me, should start a Covid safe Christmas children activity thread for North east.

ColouringPencils · 26/10/2020 15:28

Has anyone heard that there might be an announcement about NE possibly going to tier 3 today? I was told there was a meeting, but can't really see any media on it, except an article from Friday (funny how fast news flies now, I assume Friday's news it out of date)

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 15:30

Yeah, I saw that there was to be a meeting today but the chronicle is absolutely silent on it.

ColouringPencils · 26/10/2020 15:31

You would think they would be at least speculating, wouldn't you? Weird.

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 15:42

I think they ran out of steam with the endless speculation on Friday when the ominous 2 line email was reported :o

RadgeGadgess · 26/10/2020 15:45

The way the numbers for Newcastle are flying through the roof on the Zoe app, it's hard to see how we'd avoid tier 3.

ColouringPencils · 26/10/2020 15:54

@PickAChew I mean it seems very odd they didn't turn down the chance to say nothing at all Grin

@RadgeGadgess I am not on the Zoe app, but thought Newcastle numbers were going down. Am I wrong about that? They look to be rising in Gateshead again.

It all just seems a bit strange to me. Look at all the fury about Manchester going into tier 3, but the North East papers are saying nothing. Do they have an agreement with the council press offices maybe?

Do you follow North East family fun? Samantha on there is great for activities in the region as she's based in Northumberland. I think I've seen her post about covid safe stuff.
Plussizejumpsuit · 26/10/2020 16:25

How's everyone else doing? I just had a little meltdown as I wanted to hoover the stairs after endless sanding over the weekend and the bloody battery was dead. I've been feeling anxious all day and it was the final straw.

I don't know if anyone else has anxiety or experience of it but it's so bloody frustrating. I just feel annoyed with myself. Now sitting down to watch the 2nd series about hotel chocolate. I love their chocolate so much and as I've mainly worked for non profits or charities find the buisness side interesting. Totally non taxing on the brain.

Shitfuckoh · 26/10/2020 16:33

We made some strange cupcakes today. DS2s idea. Starting to feel a bit bleh about not being able to venture far over half term, that combined with the weather has me at the point of bleh.

He's got a few more things planned to bake and we're having our own little mini halloween party on Saturday.

Plussizejumpsuit · 26/10/2020 16:56

@Shitfuckoh I've just done my meal plan for the week and I've written in party food for Saturday. There's just me and my partner!but God we need a bit of fun where we can find it. Mini party's at home can be lush. We used to do bobbing for apples and eating hanging biscuits from a door frame.

Woodhorn have their pumpkin trail on over half term. There's lots outside and good distancing inside in my experience. If people are looking for things to do over the holidays.

Someaddedsugar · 26/10/2020 17:07

I hope we don't go in to tier 3 this week. I really feel for those that are already in tier 3.

Wheelbirks have a sweet hunt on Saturday if that's of interest to anyone.

I love Broom House Farm. A bit gutted they won't be doing their quiet firework night this year as really enjoyed it last year. In previous years we've driven up to the car park on the corner just along from BHF and you can see the fireworks from all over.

We also used their toot and collect service during lockdown. And have continued with a Sunday dinner order from there as a treat once a month. DS loves it as we go in now to choose whatever we're having and somehow a tractor or similar always ends up in our basket!

Are we still planning on doing the secret Santa for the group?

MissEWeatherwax · 26/10/2020 17:11

@Plussizejumpsuit yes I follow her on Facebook. I was thinking of other people. Mine are older teenagers and getting them to leave the house is difficult. Sometimes they just come downstairs for food and Google class room(I have to go upstairs).
Or in our bedroom at about 11.30 pm to show me something on Tik Tok.
But we getting an Halloween afternoon tea from the Great British Cupcakery.

gingercat02 · 26/10/2020 17:27

Warrington and bits of Nottinghamshire into Tier 3. No mention of the NE that I can find as yet!!!

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 18:09

We can normally watch both of the two local displays out of our window. Last year's police hq one was cancelled anyway, mind, as the weather was vile. Walked over that was this morning and it's already waterlogged so I doubt that it would have happened even without covid.

Someaddedsugar · 26/10/2020 18:16

Simple Politics have just updated their social feeds with details of places moving to tier 3 and definitely no mention of the north east yet. Warrington move today and the others on Thursday I think.

Someaddedsugar · 26/10/2020 18:17

@PickAChew am I right in thinking there used to be a golf course behind where the police HQ is?

PickAChew · 26/10/2020 18:54

I'll have to dig out the old maps that I have of the area and see if they stretch that far. We have a folder of almost all the records of sales of this house since it was built and there's all sorts of odds and ends in it.

FrolickingLemon · 26/10/2020 19:11

Hi all. Strange day today. Uncles funeral who died almost 3 weeks ago. Very strange and perfunctory affair. My Aunty died suddenly on Saturday night. Her funeral is quick. This Friday. It's impossible to be on high alert for long, but I keep wondering Who is Next. We all think about our mortality when these things happen I guess, but I've definitely realised that life is too short (and has been so shit this year) to worry all the time. I'm just grateful for all I still have that's left.
