@swg1 Thanks hope you and your family are ok

PickAChew · 20/10/2020 12:49

So sorry, @swg1

We made it yo almost half term before being notified of a case in ds2's school. Just had the "not a contact" letter via email.

juneybean · 20/10/2020 16:17

So sorry to hear that @swg1 xx

Shitfuckoh · 20/10/2020 16:22

Hoping yours is more straight forward than ours. It went down hill quickly for us when we had one of those!
BessieSurtees · 20/10/2020 17:12

@swg1 sorry to here of your relative, my good friend died in April and deaths are increasing again. Sad

£22 million for Manchester in tier 3. Approx 33% of what councillors said they needed. I really hope we get a reprieve up here our businesses and servcies will be crippled.

5 of the 7 original areas are dropping Newcastle is high but has dropped hugely. Durham and Sunderland seem to be increasing along with Stockton, Darlo and M'Boro. I feel like we are on a knife edge.

I hate this uncertainty and feel we are completley powerless.

PickAChew · 20/10/2020 17:23

@Shitfuckoh hopefully with being a special school the bubbles are small enough to keep it manageable. The school is laid out so almost all classrooms open directly onto one of the playgrounds, too, keeping mixing to a minimum 🤞

Greater Manchester are right in the shit, aren't they. This government has a habit of walking out of negotiations. Wankers.

Aztectrousers · 20/10/2020 17:49

Did I hear that Newcastle cases are dropping?
I hope that in a few weeks Darlo and the rest will start going down too. I just need some positive news at the moment.

Shitfuckoh · 20/10/2020 17:57

The fact that he mentioned negotions are ongoing with areas & named the North East as one of them (for Tier 3) wasn't lost on me!

@PickAChew
Fingers crossed!

PickAChew · 20/10/2020 18:01

Yes, Newcastle is no longer the darkest colour on the map. Their student cases have peaked, while Durham's are still rising, as they started later.

PickAChew · 20/10/2020 18:06

coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

Though glad to see that Durham city's figures may be turning. Numbers are still rising but the 7 day rolling rate is no longer over 5000.

LatteLover12 · 20/10/2020 19:30

These are the figures for Newcastle...definitely going in the right direction 🤞🏻

A reminder here that if you're concerned, the best way to make your thoughts heard is to write to your MP through www.theyworkforyou.com/

That's particularly the case if you've got one of the new batch of Tory MPs. Normally the situation might be "Eh, we'll never agree on anything, what's the point" but in this case the people upset in Manchester include a Mr Graham Brady of the 1922 Committee so asking them to stand with their North West colleagues and protect the North East might get more of a hearing.

gingercat02 · 21/10/2020 11:08

S Yorks going to tier 3 at the weekend. I'm still 🤞 our numbers are improving enough to keep us in tier 2

Someaddedsugar · 21/10/2020 13:17

Fingers crossed @gingercat02

Just got back from my grandma's funeral and it was so sad that only one of her friends could be there to say her goodbyes as there are so many who are shielding or are too anxious to attend something with other people. Heartbreaking that those people she has known for over 50 years couldn't be there. But a lovely service all the same.

Shitfuckoh · 21/10/2020 13:36

@Someaddedsugar
Best wishes for today, hopefully her friends were able to say goodbye to her in a way that was fitting for them. Even if it was just thinking of her over their favourite cuppa etc Flowers

gingercat02 · 21/10/2020 15:26

Someaddedsugar glad it went as well as possible in the circumstances
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/coronavirus-tier-3-northeast-teeside-latest-data-cases-update-lockdown-b1205345.html This sounds quite promising

Aztectrousers · 21/10/2020 15:48

Thanks gingercat02. We need to hear all the positive news we can at the moment.

Someaddedsugar · 21/10/2020 16:01

Thanks @gingercat02 and @Shitfuckoh - I also love the thought of her friends thinking about their memories Smile

MissEWeatherwax · 21/10/2020 23:27

There was a terrible video, of the students doing the rounds on Facebook. The University need to get a handle soon. I can’t see my DM, so it better be worth it. I am very bitter.
Sorry for anyone, who has lost loved ones.Flowers

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 22/10/2020 00:06

Well, crap. DH has just tested positive for COVID. I knew that being a medic he was high risk for it but it still really sucks.

I don't know where he caught it from. They have been having real problems getting people to wear masks in the waiting room / for appointments though - proper stand up shouting matches. Obviously I'm not talking about medical exemptions here (although clearly they pose a huge risk to staff although it is an unavoidable risk).

He's 40 and in decent health. We have a medically vulnerable child. Fingers and toes crossed.

PS - if anyone recognises me from IRL as I have been to meet-ups, please don't mention it on social media.

PickAChew · 22/10/2020 00:08

I've heard some stories of some dreadful arrogance but that seems to go with the territory, here. I've been elbow barged on fram bridged by a right entitled twat or three..

In other news--he's finally taking long sleeves out of his drawer.

Tics are non stop with halfer term looming.

He's still bloody awake.

And DS1 is rapping his phone in disgust like crazy.

PickAChew · 22/10/2020 00:10

And clearly I need sleep.but I'm pricking myself. With pins.....

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 22/10/2020 07:25

Ah crap schnitzel. Fingers crossed he stays well. Could have come from anywhere. And most likely staff as the hot points for transmission are all the bits in the office etc where we forget to distance, pass the phone over, look at the same computer screen etc. And with so many being pretty asymptomatic....

Shitfuckoh · 22/10/2020 10:44

Not much to report here. Youngest 2 are back in school & pre-school. Feel like it's just a matter of time before we end up in isolation again but I'm in quite a pessimistic mood so hopefully not!

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum
Fingers crossed for you here too.

@PickAChew
Good news on him taking the long sleeves from the drawer. Hope you both managed to get some sleep!
