Good news today -- kiddo's MRI has come back clear. Now awaiting appointment to discuss what we do next.

PickAChew · 22/10/2020 13:17

Great news @swg1

Glad to report that Ds2 went quiet and stopped bouncing around not long after my last bleary eyed Post. Next week is going to be a very long week, particularly if his tics persist all the way through. They're so loud.

Plussizejumpsuit · 22/10/2020 15:02

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum

Well, crap. DH has just tested positive for COVID. I knew that being a medic he was high risk for it but it still really sucks.

I don't know where he caught it from. They have been having real problems getting people to wear masks in the waiting room / for appointments though - proper stand up shouting matches. Obviously I'm not talking about medical exemptions here (although clearly they pose a huge risk to staff although it is an unavoidable risk).

He's 40 and in decent health. We have a medically vulnerable child. Fingers and toes crossed.

PS - if anyone recognises me from IRL as I have been to meet-ups, please don't mention it on social media.

So sorry to hear this. My GP practice has just had 2 GPs come down with it. Is he in Gateshead by any chance? Maybe I shouldn't ask that. I've never been on a mumsnet threat that local and things get potentially identifiable! But if it my GP practice I hope he's OK as my GP is lovely (I tend to see the same one) and all the other GPsI've seen have been great too. Which I don't think I've every said before!

Hope you and your little one are OK especially as they are vulnerable. I'm sure it's been scary almost waiting for him to get it. I have some relatives who are GPs. And my mum works in atrasplant team at the RVI. I'm regularly thinking it's a matter of time before they get it. Sending best wishes.

I've been away form the thread for a few day as I lost it! (the thread not my mind!) @PennyDreadfuI How's your dd doing?

I have a bit of good news... I've been offered and accepted a new job at a gallery in Newcastle. It's an audience development role. I do some project management for a museum group in the region and I'm an artist. So this work will be in addition to this. As it's 2 days a week and I only had a little bit of work on mainly because all of the community and participation stuff I'd do isn't happening very much. They had over 100 applications so I'm really pleased. Especially as I'm definitely not the most confident when it comes to my career. Hope this doesn't sound like brag. Just sharing good news. @swg1 sorry about your cousin.

My mam was just telling me a colleagues husband died this week. He was in early 60s but did have several Co morbidities. I lost my uncle a few years ago in his late 50s. Although we weren't really close there's something so hard seeing someone go before they're particularly old. So sending empathy and love.

IggyAce · 22/10/2020 18:09

Hi just checking in, half term starts now for ds, we made it to half term with all bubbles intact. DD finishes tomorrow.
I hope the weather stays fine as I plan on doing plenty of walks and a bit of leaf kicking.

Someaddedsugar · 22/10/2020 19:17

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum hope he and you are both ok!

Congratulations @Plussizejumpsuit - sounds like a really interesting role!

LatteLover12 · 22/10/2020 23:02

That's great news @Plussizejumpsuit well done!

So nice to hear good news!

I was very excited to meet a friend outdoors for a coffee today! Baby DS stayed asleep while I drank hot coffee too - amazing!

BessieSurtees · 23/10/2020 04:52

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum how's your DH feeling in himself I hope he's not too poorly.

Really well done @Plussizejumpsuit that's some competition you had there.

This thread is a bit of a rollercoaster isn't it?

I've been getting my winter clothes out of the loft. A bit of advice I was given when I started working from home was wear your jeans everyday not Pjs or comfies. I wish I'd listened. CakeShock

Anyone else been offered pearls of wisdom that on hindsight they shouldn't have ignored Grin

PickAChew · 23/10/2020 12:28

It's great to see some good news, @Plussizejumpsuit 🥂

NoseringGirl · 23/10/2020 12:34

Fantastic news @Plussizejumpsuit congratulations Star

juneybean · 23/10/2020 13:24

@SchnitzelVonCrummsTum Oh no! Sorry to read this! Wishing him a speedy recovery and hope the rest of you stay safe xxx

PickAChew · 23/10/2020 16:12

And here we go again, only it looks like there's going to be no negotiation, this time. We'll be lurched into tier 3 even though numbers are going down. Even in Durham City, the reported infection rate is 3/4 of what it was a week ago so it's heading in the right direction. Sunderland is more worrying because their numbers are rising everywhere and Houghton and Hetton are still badly affected.

MissEWeatherwax · 23/10/2020 16:27

I agree, we are definitely going into tier 3. It’s so unfair. The figures on the council website show it going down.

Shitfuckoh · 23/10/2020 17:06

What have I missed? Last thing I knew talks were 'paused'.

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 17:16

Thanks for all the congratulations! Grin
I'm really happy. The art world is super competitive!
What's happening? I can't keep up!

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 17:23

My sister just messaged to say her baby has had contact with a positive case at nursery! The advice is she has to isolate but they don't?! Also I look after her 4 year old, (my niece) gah!!!!

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 17:27

I feel a bit upset about it. I know that's dramatic. She was just on tester days she's literally done half a day 3 times!

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 17:33

Sorry for bombarding the thread. I me at to rely this story my partner told me. He works with people all over the country but has a few colleagues up here one of his team who lives up here has a partner with covid. He caught it from one of his colleagues who came into work with symptoms! I don't want to say what they do as it might be outing. But the job involves clients who have teams on projects on site. He had not only been to the office he'd been to numerous sites with teams of several people. Who need to work quite closely. Wtf?!! Why would you do this. Just for clarity the job he does is the same as the colleagues partner, its well paid and on good terms. Not like he's working for Deliveroo and won't get paid if he doesn't work!

Shitfuckoh · 23/10/2020 17:35

@Plussizejumpsuit

Oh no.
If it helps put your mind at ease, we finished isolation period Wednesday morning after my youngest had to isolate due to a positive case in his nursery. Keeping distance from him would have been impossible so didn't even attempt it but as he couldn't go out, neither could I so isolated too.
None of us went on to develop symptoms & no one else in the nursery did either. (my eldests school is a different matter!)

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 17:48

Thanks @Shitfuckoh

It feels wrong that the rest of the household aren't being told to isolate. I can't find the rules. Only bern looking for a min...

Someaddedsugar · 23/10/2020 18:12

Have talks not been postponed until they have a further meeting?

Shitfuckoh · 23/10/2020 18:12

@Plussizejumpsuit

Thanks *@Shitfuckoh*

It feels wrong that the rest of the household aren't being told to isolate. I can't find the rules. Only bern looking for a min...

I know. It's true but It doesn't make sense does it? The rest of the household only need to isolate if the one isolating develops symptoms - but considering it's said most children don't get the 'standard 3' then I'm not too sure how they've come up with it.
Plussizejumpsuit · 23/10/2020 18:15

@Shitfuckoh yep that's my thinking. Especially as they have a baby and 4 year old. So very close care and contact with bodily fluids. Plus very unlikely to get symptoms. Urgh.

InTheLongGrass · 23/10/2020 18:15

The interpretation is correct, @Plussizejumpsuit. Only the baby needs to isolate. We've got it going on currently - my 11 yr old's class has been sent home. It's very clear in the school letter that he must stay at home, but the rest of us can carry on as normal unless someone gets ill.

So youngest has been at school, and I've been taking him. Think I might take non isolating child to some woods or big parks over half term, but we're not doing anything inside with other people apart from a weekly tesco shop.

Shitfuckoh · 23/10/2020 18:19

Yep we had it last week too. Only difference is 1 of my other DC couldn't go to school due to not being able to get him there (and he's only 6 so not able to walk to & from alone).
