Looks like England may be following Scotland. Or parts of England? Or new levels to be announced!? Who knows...

@cheninblanc totally agree. Uncertainty breeds anxiety. The whole thing is so badly managed.

Ellsbells12 · 07/10/2020 22:45

I think people will rebel soon too

Gobacktothe90s · 07/10/2020 22:47

Does anyone know if they close restaurants do they mean takeaways will have to shut too?
They are literally my only pleasure in life at the minute. Sad I know but true

Oaktree55 · 07/10/2020 22:57

I always watch our de facto Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon to keep abreast of what’s in store for England.

I read up today on local lockdown measures. They’ve done nothing except increase cases, yes one could argue that they’ve slowed increase, but other measures will be needed as clearly not solving issue. I doubt closing pubs will either.

IheartNiles · 07/10/2020 22:58

People will riot if this carries on. So many livelihoods in ruin.

Livelovebehappy · 07/10/2020 22:58

So we go into another big lockdown for two weeks, infection rate/deaths decrease. Then restrictions are eased again; infections increase, deaths increase and back to total lockdown again. What’s the point??? We’re just going to be yo-yoing. I’m beyond pissed off with it all. We’re never going to have zero infections, until we get a vaccine. Meanwhile we have to just learn to live with it.

EasterIssland · 07/10/2020 23:04

I found a few places talking about it.

Below 100/100k
Tier 1
Alert level 1

Represents the baseline, the minimum level of restrictions applicable to all of England.
Social contact
Rule of six.
Childcare bubbles (for under-15s/years 9 and 10) children (or vulnerable adults) where necessary for caring purposes (to be a consistent childcare relationship, not for playdates).
Wedding and civil partnership ceremonies and services up to 15 attendees.
Funeral up to 30 attendees only.
Significant event gatherings up to 15 only.
Support groups up to 15 only.
No mass events eg. sports events and pilot performances.
Organised sport only allowed outdoors.
Visiting indoor hospitality/leisure/retail settings under rule [sic].
Businesses
All sectors which are permitted to open by law can remain so providing they meet Covid-19 secure guidance.
Face coverings and/or screens for all workers in indoor hospitality (chefs, waiting staff, etc) and customers apart from when seated.
Curfews on business operating hours. Leisure and entertainment venues must be closed between 10pm and 5am. Can continue delivery after 10pm.
Food and drink venues will be table service only.
More stringent Covid-19 secure guidance and enforcement. Where possible, WFH [working from home] should be encouraged.

Tier 2
Over 100/100k
Alert level 2

Triggered in geographical areas or nationally when there has been a rise in transmission that cannot be contained through local responses.
Social contact
In addition to alert level 1 restrictions (except where noted):
Must not meet others outside their household in private dwellings (apart from support bubble) including outside space in the home ie. gardens [replaces alert level 1 restriction].
Visiting indoor hospitality/leisure/retail settings is restricted to one household ie. two households must not meet in these settings (unless those two households are in a support bubble) even if the total headcount is [sic] [replaces alert level 1 restriction].
People are advised only to visit care homes in exceptional circumstances.
People should only travel for essential reasons.
People can holiday outside of your area but should only do so with the people they live with or have formed a social bubble with.
People can play a team sport only where this is formally organised by a sports club or similar organisation, and sports governing body guidance has been issued.
People should not attend amateur or professional sporting events as a spectator in the areas affected.
Weddings are permitted to have 15 attendees and receptions are not permitted.
Funerals are limited to 15 attendees.
Businesses
[No additional information]

Where it’s gone to a non controllable state
Tier 3

contact
In addition to alert level 1 and alert level 2 measures unless noted to be a replacement:

No social contact outside your household in any setting [replaces alert level 2 restriction].
Restrictions on overnight stays away from home (in a private residence in the area under local restrictions) [replaces alert level 2 restriction].
Places of worship can remain open.
No organised non-professional sports permitted/other communal hobby groups/activities (eg. social clubs in community centres) [replaces alert level 2 restriction].
Businesses
In addition to alert level 1 and alert level 2 measures:
Closure of hospitality and leisure businesses [replaces alert level 2 restriction].

*I absolutely don’t give a shit about any new rules... does no one else feel this way? I’m over it.

Economy, cancer, mental health, every other illness!... ffs everyone needs to get over this.*

Have you actually thought about what would happen with no measures to try and control the spread of the virus?
Do you think that hospitals being overwhelmed and nurses being burnt out is going to be any good for the economy, cancer or mental health?
We don’t have the luxury of not giving a shit.

Oaktree55 · 07/10/2020 23:06

They need to get on top of track and trace. It’s all an utter mess. They use one supplier for the reagent and apparently Roche are predicting a 2/3 week supply disruption which obviously means more testing shambles.

I honestly don’t know how they’ll get out of this mess. The measures they’re taking eg early pub closures weren’t apparently recommended by scientists.

It needs strong decisive action followed by adequate tracing and support to isolate.

Oaktree55 · 07/10/2020 23:11

@EasterIssland thanks that’s honestly the first time I’ve seen that. This information should be easily accessible and at everyone’s fingertips. The communication is appalling.

HRH18 · 07/10/2020 23:13

Pubs and restaurants will close where I am as we already have right no mixing restrictions. I think it’s unfortunate but probably needs to be done. Quite ironic that the government were funding people to eat out in Aug and less than 6 weeks later they will be closing them again!

Fruitsaladjelly · 07/10/2020 23:15

I’m with you. I’ve seen irrevocable harm everywhere I look caused by lockdown, and I’m seeing some old and unwell people die a little sooner than they would have done had covid never been. We prepared for the worst back in March, it didn’t take long to realise the worst wasn’t going to happen, why are we still trying to fight something we can’t control. It’s like they need us not to get herd immunity because if/when the vaccine comes how will the drug companies make all their money if we mostly all had it.
userxx · 07/10/2020 23:17

@Strawberrypancakes With you, it can't go on.

kantswife · 07/10/2020 23:18

I'm really curious about the herd immunity conversation when I've had covid twice?

kantswife · 07/10/2020 23:18

and, to everyone moaning about how we can't cope with any new restrictions, you all must be in a very privileged position that you and your whole family is basically Safe and won't ever feel the effects of a virus that has killed and will continue to kill.

Totally. Maybe you dont care but what about people who are teachers, shop workers? Other staff that are public facing. Older people. People with underlying conditions. How utterly selfish.
neveradullmoment99 · 07/10/2020 23:21

Sorry, that was in response to the quote not the poster of this.

Totally agree with this too. How utterly selfish.
userxx · 07/10/2020 23:29

How utterly selfish.

The most over used world of this shit show. Selfish. It's laughable.

HesterShaw1 · 07/10/2020 23:31

Oh look there's that word again "selfish"

It has a new definition apparently. It means people who care about more things than Covid.

StatisticalSense · 07/10/2020 23:31

There's no point in putting more restrictions on hospitality (a sector that is causing very few cases) when a certain other sector has more than enough outbreaks to make it impossible for the R rate to get below one without it closing. Unless schools are closed the proposed further restrictions are merely an attack on the way of life enjoyed by the younger generation and shouldn't be seen in any other light. The country has 2 choices, either allowing things to return to normal and accepting to many will die in the short term in order to reduce the long term impact or closing schools and accepting the long term consequences of such a move including a much higher death rate in the longer term.

StatisticalSense · 07/10/2020 23:34

@userxx
The only phrase that is more overused when referring to the pandemic than selfish is shit show. This country has been fed lies by politicians of all colours for many decades and is now to fragile as a whole to accept that death is inevitable and is also incapable of understanding that short term pain is sometimes necessary for long term gain.

CountessFrog · 07/10/2020 23:36

Oh!

Are we throwing ‘selfish’ at this fire again?

Really lacking imagination now.

Rayn · 07/10/2020 23:38

Will be interesting to see if the numbers drop slightly when the kids are on half term!

CulturallyAppropriatedName · 07/10/2020 23:38

Some of us here in Manchester have been unable to visit parents or vice versa since end of July. The whole Summer holiday was ruined. We are also a family of 6 and cannot meet any other people inside or outside. We have been under this restriction 2.5 months and our numbers have more than quintupled during that time. I am so bloody sick of doing the right thing. I missed my mum's 80th. All my siblings were able to go, we couldn't. It's bloody unfair.
