@PickAChew
Sounds a lot like my 9 yo with his love of google maps & telling me where the bus stops are, what route they're going to take etc.

As part of home learning, as he attends a special school I was left with 1 sheet of 'ideas' and 1 idea was to have him do a map.
He used google maps to help him & had to put the bus stops in the correct place etc Grin

PickAChew · 25/09/2020 18:46

@Shitfuckoh DS1 (also autistic - I got a full house with my two!) is completely bus obsessed. We spent the first weekend just before lockdown looking out of the window, wistfully, at all the empty buses. We previously spent our weekends travelling around the region by bus, playing pokemon go as we travelled. Bit sad that we'll not be able to try out the new interdecks on the X9 and x10 when they arrive.

When he caught the bus bug, he filled the house with paper buses. A lot of these liveries and vehicles are defunct, now, but it might entertain your ds if he ends up stuck at home at any point.

Oh, and lots of photos that your ds might enjoy

Hi all, Arnison Centre Sainsbury's has everything in stock other than the cheap tinned chopped tomatoes. Wondering if Sainsbury's haven't put a 3 item limit on yet as they don't want to panic people and make it appear that there's a stock shortage?

Shitfuckoh · 25/09/2020 18:59

Oh wow @PickAChew thank you! He'll love the paper buses & the bonus being they will help him with his fine motor skills etc! We spent a lot of time on our 'daily exercise' walk looking for buses, which bus numbers they were & how many people were on each one - saw a lot of empty buses.

He'll love the photos, thank you so much.

Such a shame about Crook Hall. I've never been there when there's a smell though. Is there any hope that a new buyer might resurrect it as a business?

lanbro · 25/09/2020 19:08

@Shitfuckoh cakes as far as the eye can see...Grin

@lanbro oo what coffee shop? Im always on the hunt for good cake...

Went to tesco today (north tyneside) and there was plenty of everything, so shortages havent hit here yet. I remember them hitting late on last time as well, we were laughing at all the photos of empty shelves, then a few weeks in our shelves were empty too!

Shitfuckoh · 25/09/2020 19:14

@lanbro
Wow that is lots of cake! Pleased to hear that business hasn't been affected. Everyone needs cake, cake is good!

Walkingwounded · 25/09/2020 19:21

Just inside Northumberland here. So glad to see another thread.

School still functioning OK despite a few cases. praying to God it stays open since another stint of home schooling really would finish me off.

lanbro · 25/09/2020 19:23

@ScottishStottie it's Coffee on the Corner in the outer west of Newcastle (not trying to derail with shameless plugging!!)

Bridecilla · 25/09/2020 19:58

Hello from Mackem land ;)

Sent home from work just after lunch as our building needed deep cleaning again because of another idiot coming to work while waiting for test results then testing positive Angry so nipped into Tesco (at the Wheat Sheaf) before the school run. Theyre rationing toilet roll, pasta etc to 3 per person again

Dementedswan · 25/09/2020 21:26

I drove through Tynemouth today, dropping something. It was a ghost town. Last week the bars and bistros were busy, tables full and loadd of people mingling x

PickAChew · 25/09/2020 22:07

DS1 has decided to spend the evening in his room so dh and I actually have the living room to ourselves. I'm drinking a rather nice South African grenache noir that I picked up in markses, this morning, and we've finally got around to watching Staged.

IggyAce · 25/09/2020 22:36

I’m solo this weekend with the dcs, dh is a wedding photographer & has 3 weddings this weekend, 2 couples managed to move their date before the new restrictions start. So I plan on a nice walk tomorrow, collecting conkers, a movie night and probably board games on Sunday. Dcs have requested mince & dumplings so will go shopping for ingredients.

LittleRa · 25/09/2020 22:55

@Dementedswan I drove down Osborne Road, Jesmond at around 8pm and it was most definitely not a ghost town- students rammed in at the areas at the front of Bar Blanc, Spy Bar etc 😳

FoolShapeHeart · 25/09/2020 23:05

Mmmm dumplings, I've now got soup & dumplings on my weekend to do list.
Just checking in from the top right-hand corner the metro map, this is such a lovely thread 💕

MissEWeatherwax · 26/09/2020 12:18

Durham is heaving. Queues for both Tesco and Iceland. I forgot about University. DD wanted to go to H&M.

Someaddedsugar · 26/09/2020 12:31

Is it student arrival weekend in Durham? Spotted to signs on the way to DS' nursery but there weren't any dates etc.

Also - North Road looks to be closed at Durham bus station for a few weeks from 5 October. I know it's limited access by car but might have an impact on anyone who gets the bus. Not sure where the diversion will go as I've looked on DCC website but no reference to it yet.

Snoringferret · 26/09/2020 12:48

Jesmond is rammed with students.

The queue for Starbucks is a sight to behold.

PennyDreadfuI · 26/09/2020 12:55

I've got my Slanket out and not a fuck is given. I've also got the heating on and I'm reading the new Ken Follett - his Kingsbridge books are my guilty pleasure and just the escapism ticket right now. I'm going to peel myself off the sofa in a couple of hours and head over to Gosforth High Street to get some beers for tonight. I've had worse Saturdays to be honest.

At the beginning of last lockdown I became a bit obsessed with the north east traffic cams site. It was bonkers seeing usually busy roads completely empty. Last night I went on again for the first time in months and Newcastle city centre at 11pm on a Friday night was eerily quiet again.

@PennyDreadfuI I did the same at the start of lockdown - and was also amazed by the London cameras - so strange to think of all those empty streets!

The London ones were so weird! I lived there for ten years and it was so strange seeing places where I lived and worked completely silent. I've got a whole folder of screenshots from the London and local ones. One day people won't believe how quiet everything was for those few weeks!

@scottishStottie if you are on the look out for a coffee shop coffee on the corner is amazing. I was thinking about taking the dd's down this weekend, bit we ended up in self isolation instead.
