Second wave coming

The numbers are still a drop in the ocean. Hope pubs close before churches this time.

@Beebityboo

This quote in the article really pissed me off "the British people have done an amazing job - they've brought that peak down by discipline" but that "people find it difficult to keep this up, it's difficult to maintain that discipline for a long time". All our own fault, not at all the responsibility of the absolute clowns in power and certainly nothing to do with the fact that our testing system is in the toilet, that the young were actively encouraged to go out and spend money in restaurants, that schools were sent back with no extra funding and safety measures that will do diddly squat to stave off a virus that is spread by aerosol. And even now, even now they have given notice to care homes that they will once again have to accept Coronavirus patients. This is manslaughter. Sorry for the rant but I am so mad and so so upset that it has gotten this bad, this quickly. It didn't have to be like this!!
Tbf people are always complaining about other people flouting the rules.

I think it’s time To close pubs/restaurants/ bars etc.

We went out for a lovely lunch today, outside and the waiter kept coming really close to us, chatting for ages about nothing even though we weren’t giving long answers, touched my husbands back a few times, put my drink on the table while holding the top bit that I would drink from with his hands, to be fair he was wearing a mask... but wrong so pointless ! Moving around 20
Tables doing the same to all customers.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 18/09/2020 18:29

There are a worrying number of people who think that Brexit means we aren’t part of Europe any longer. Fuck knows where they think we actually are. It’s not like the U.K. is geographically mobile, is it?

Indeed.

I've also noticed a bizarre phenomenon in which some British people appear to believe that simply being British means the virus doesn't affect you the way it does other nationalities. Kinda like it gives priority the way holiday reps are supposed to 'because we're British'.

TeamGhanaJollof · 18/09/2020 18:29

There better be some fucking white walkers this time!

justanotherneighinparadise · 18/09/2020 18:30

We took the time over the summer to lose a stone each and get metabolically healthy. The second wave can jog the fuck on as it will have little effect on us. My MIL however was shielding the first time around so I wonder if they’ll lock those people down again and give the rest of us curfews🤔

What a fucking liberty! Filthy bastard.

"people find it difficult to keep this up, it's difficult to maintain that discipline for a long time"

No, actually. People were lobbied to

  • eat out
  • send kids to school as covid-secure
  • go back to office even if WFH productive
  • visit inns and hostelries throughout the land
  • get takeaway coffees
  • fly off on summer hols
MummyPop00 · 18/09/2020 18:33

I bet Andrex are laughing their bollocks off, the feckers.

Shit you’re right! The gaslighting cunts 😮
BabyLlamaZen · 18/09/2020 18:35

@EndoplasmicReticulum

I knew it was coming but was hoping not quite yet. Going to be a long old winter.
I know. We all knew it was coming but I hoped people could all be smart and mean it holds out as long as possible.

But no.

Echobelly · 18/09/2020 18:36

My prediction - it'll peak some time next month, they'll get it relatively under control by start of December, then cue mawkish headlines from Sun, Mail etc saying 'Please give us back our Christmas Boris!' and they'll drop loads of restrictions for Xmas, then wave 3 in February.

There is some small satisfaction in knowing that history will put the blame where it needs to be - the pitiful quality of leadership in this country.

ohbrightlight · 18/09/2020 18:36

I just find it really amusing that it’s freshers for universities local to me next week and all of a sudden we need a lockdown.

Didn’t have a fucking problem when millions were going out to eat half price food though eh Boris?

It’s about control now.

Hopefully a third wave whilst properly protecting the vulnerable third time around. They need to sort themselves out.
Witchend · 18/09/2020 18:38

Finally old BJ has realised what was becoming fairly clear about half way through August.
Only a month behind, poor love, maybe he'll catch up at some point.

TheGreatWave · 18/09/2020 18:38

I wouldn't be worrying about a 3rd wave, we have the shit that is Brexit to get through before that.

Timeforabiscuit · 18/09/2020 18:38

🤣🤣🤣 spot on!

knittingaddict · 18/09/2020 18:39

I bet Andrex are laughing their bollocks off, the feckers.

I bought 2 extra packs of loo roll this week and a few cans of soup. Should have bought more.

passmethewineplease · 18/09/2020 18:40

Can someone please explain something to me?

They want to go back in to lockdown due to rising numbers but surely the same will happen again after a lockdown?

Is it just going to be lockdowns on and off now for the year?!

notevenat20 · 18/09/2020 18:41

I fair guess is that we will copy France or Belgium. So almost everything will stay open but we will stricter rules about social mixing and some sort of curfew for places people go to mix (e.g. pubs).

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/09/2020 18:42

Yes, and honestly I think we will be in and out of lockdowns, national or local, and closures. Not sure it's very sustainable, but I think it's just to try stop the NHS being overwhelmed.. and considering it's coming up to flu season anyway, it's not great.

notevenat20 · 18/09/2020 18:42

*They want to go back in to lockdown due to rising numbers but surely the same will happen again after a lockdown? Is it just going to be lockdowns on and off now for the year?!

More or less yes but this lockdown won't be like the last one. Most things will stay open.

RedToothBrush · 18/09/2020 18:43

Well at least that put an end to the 'do you think there will be a second wave' threads...
