Gateshead has just been added to the govt watchlist and Newcastle is on amber alert. Sunderland have had over 200 cases in the past seven days.

Are we next for a local lockdown? What do you think it will entail? Given Newcastle's reputation as a party city I'm guessing restricted hours for bars maybe - they were packed to the rafters over the August bank holiday weekend, which may account for lots of the new cases.

By the way Kingston Park was unusually busy for a Sunday - impossible to SD in some of the aisles at Tesco and M&S was pretty packed too. All well stocked though. There was one small empty section in the toilet roll aisle but all the other shelves were fully stocked and pasta, tinned stuff etc was all good. I was relieved!

I bought some stuff for my Christmas shelf - who needs to stockpile bog roll when you can stockpile M&S shortbread instead?!

@PennyDreadfuI we had a lovely time thank you!

And thank you so much for the recommendations - lots of conkers brought home and DS thinks they're amazing so thank you all - you've made a little boy very happy!!

Shitfuckoh · 20/09/2020 16:07

@PennyDreadfuI

I'm sorry but I absolutely 100% agree with this!

@shesgonebatshitagain My Sainsbury’s has run out of Schweppes tonic water and the 70cl Gordon’s grin Well that's just a step too far. Fuck everything

Bearfrills · 20/09/2020 16:18

I'm waiting for an ocado delivery and it's all there.

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/09/2020 16:36

Wow the numbers today in Newcastle . I'm not sure exactly but 92 is showing on the dashboard and there were 78 on Friday.

I was completing my ASDA order for delivery Tuesday & lots of things aren't allowing me to put them in my basket.

I'm hoping there's nothing missing from mine but then it would be the first time since March! In fact the last couple of deliverys (and 1 from Tesco) were pretty bad for out of stock & subs.
DS1 is happy that I can now get his ham though!

65 in sunderland, quite an increase on the past few days. Hopefully it's due to people being able to get tests now!

clareykb · 20/09/2020 17:03

People looking at Christmas ideas Gibside has an outdoor lights things on that looks similar to enchanted parks. Have also booked Dobbies breakfast with Santa as they have food cancellation policies!

NewAutumnName · 20/09/2020 17:07

So some 'problem' areas have 38 in 100,000 people and that merits a strict lockdown Hmm

Shitfuckoh · 20/09/2020 17:09

I can't find daily reported by area (Durham) cases. Just total reported cases?

@NewAutumnName
Is the 38 in 100,000 for Durham?

juneybean · 20/09/2020 17:13

Durham is 50 reported today.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/09/2020 17:50

Aldi (gateshead/felling) was as fully stocked as always if anyone's looking for an alternative.

Petition for informal childcare to be reinstated here - please sign and share! It's from the amazing Pregnant Then Screwed

Dementedswan · 20/09/2020 19:16

I've got my usual morrisons delivery coming tomorrow. Hopefully everything arrives. They've been great through lockdown.

A child in my DC class is coming back from holidaying abroad tomorrow, be interesting whether school will make her quarantine before returning. I hope so.

Aztectrousers · 20/09/2020 19:22

My town in not in the lockdown area (so far!) but my mum’s is. Just spoken to her and she is so down today. She’s in her 80’s but very active and I usually go visit her once a week but she says I can’t go now. She’s terrified that someone reports her and she gets fined. Not scared of Covid but scared of a big fine!
What an absolute shitshow!!

FrolickingLemon · 20/09/2020 19:42

If she is a single person, can you not bubble with her @Aztectrousers?

Snoringferret · 20/09/2020 20:01

I'm interested how much it appears people are complying to the new rules?

According to my Instagram there have been a lot of rule breaks today, including birthday parties, Sunday dinners and just general meeting up with people.

Just wondering if it's just the people I know or if that's what other people are seeing too?

Dementedswan · 20/09/2020 20:19

Seems a lot of people in my area not following guidelines, visiting family etc.

BessieSurtees · 20/09/2020 20:32

@Someaddedsugar I’ve signed it.

Jrobhatch29 · 20/09/2020 20:39

I picked up my asda click and Collect today and it was all there apart from my baby's formula milk, which is probably the most important thing on the list!

shesgonebatshitagain · 20/09/2020 20:41

@Someaddedsugar
I have also signed it

allibebop · 20/09/2020 20:42

Evening all, hope it's ok to join! Northumberland here

Plussizejumpsuit · 20/09/2020 20:47

God I'm just feeling really low this evening. Just had a bicker with my partner, we normally get on very well. He works in a government related job and his workload has bee redic since February. He works 8 to 7 each day with work at the weekend or later in the evening at times. It can't be helped but just thinking about going into a second wave and there being no let up in his working hours. Plus the stress that brings. Then not being able to see family just feels really grim.

I work freelance and have a core income on one project which is going to continue. But it's my only work. I've had one day's work in addition to this since March.

God this sounds like a right fucking pity party! Sorry! Just feeling like a scream or cry right now.

Bearfrills · 20/09/2020 20:56

I think you're entitled to have a pity party, it's a shit situation all round Wine

DH is working from home too and there are times I feel like shouting at him "will you get off fucking Teams and help me with this!?". I have to have a word with myself and remember that he's working, I have drawn a line though and said he has to take proper lunch breaks away from his desk with none of this eating a sandwich in front of the screen stuff.
