Anyone in the North East?

Gateshead has just been added to the govt watchlist and Newcastle is on amber alert. Sunderland have had over 200 cases in the past seven days.

Are we next for a local lockdown? What do you think it will entail? Given Newcastle's reputation as a party city I'm guessing restricted hours for bars maybe - they were packed to the rafters over the August bank holiday weekend, which may account for lots of the new cases.

@HeresMe

Do you have any real life support or are you getting any medical help with your mental health? I have anxiety and on off depression. So I do know how things can be. It feels really overwhelming now but it won't be forever xx

Shitfuckoh · 16/09/2020 21:02

@Dockray
Thanks Smile he's as much use as a chocolate teapot but you know what, I have the kids with me & it's not me missing out on those precious moments.
I managed from March until June, we can do it again - this time they have school (atleast until someone needs to isolate!)

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/09/2020 21:07

@HeresMe we are here, hear to listen and support. Can you see your Gp soon? Is there anyone to bubble with?

idontthinkicare · 16/09/2020 21:14

My dad lives a few mins from me so I'm hoping I can still see him.
A friend lives opposite me too.
It's so depressing isn't it.

Dockray · 16/09/2020 21:20

Shitfuckoh. Sound like with you the DC will be just fine Smile

Heresme- theres lots of people here who've been through horrendous times and who will listen and support you.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 16/09/2020 21:24

@HeresMe Im sorry. I have struggled with anxiety and depression for years so I hear you. It won't be forever. Please reach out IRL but we are all here with you

@Shitfuckoh I cannot be bothered with men like that. Tell him to go and shite

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 16/09/2020 21:26

Hello @Dockray! Our last curry and cocktails was far too long ago. One day we really do need to resurrect it. I can't believe those little babies we had are in secondary school now. What happened?

I hope something happens before the football given that they are going to allow 1000 fans at the Borough game.

HeresMe · 16/09/2020 21:36

Thanks for all the concern I'll be fine unless there is another lockdown, and yeah Boris I'm blackmailimg you to think first

Shitfuckoh · 16/09/2020 21:41

@SabrinaTheTeenageBitch Haha! I know, things like this seem to show them for exactly who they are! He only sees them every other weekend for 2 hours at the most as it is now. My concern is how they'll understand it but it'll be one of those things where they just do. Long term though, who knows.

Dockray · 16/09/2020 21:42

We got old Oakley! Grin What I wouldn't give for a night of strawberry bellinis and garlic naans...

Football plans are crazy at the moment.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 16/09/2020 21:43

We could takeaway and zoom. Though not quite the same.

Someaddedsugar · 16/09/2020 21:45

I've just found this thread (live just outside Durham) and I'm also dreading the announcement that's clearly on the way.

I've been in floods of tears all evening and just don't think I can cope with a second lockdown and having to work with DS at home as a result of no household mixing.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 16/09/2020 21:47

Hello @someaddedsugar welcome. I'm just outside Durham too. Madness isn't it. I hope you are feeling ok after your cry x

Shitfuckoh · 16/09/2020 21:48

Just outside of Durham here too.

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 16/09/2020 21:48

@OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea @StealthPolarBear @juneybean @Dockray and anyone I've missed ....

Actually, take-away and Zoom sounds amazing. I feel so socially starved that it would be good to have something to look forward to regardless of what this new announcement says!

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 16/09/2020 21:50

Let's do it then!

HarrietOh · 16/09/2020 21:50

Well The Guardian has just put a story up, announcement due in the morning.

cyclingmad · 16/09/2020 21:52

If some people are asymptomatic they could have had the virus months ago and now that testing is available they show up positive so unless people were tested daily how can they be 100% positive that all those people got it at the football match. Unless they are showing symptoms.

Shitfuckoh · 16/09/2020 21:52

It really is coming then Sad

Someaddedsugar · 16/09/2020 21:55

Thanks @OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea - I think it's been one of those weeks with a load of shitty things happening and this has been the icing on the cake. Feel better for writing it down though!

I hope everyone on this thread is ok.

And as someone else has said it's nice to see a north east thread even if it is about CV-19!

Someaddedsugar · 16/09/2020 22:02

It's on BBC 1 10pm News as a story in a few mins

beansonbread · 16/09/2020 22:04

Newcastle here! I’m absolutely dreading another lockdown. I bizarrely enjoyed the national one - more time at home as a family, slower pace of life, much less stress. But this time round because there’s too much confusion over what you can/can’t do I’m dressing it. Add in the farcical nature of yes you can go to the pub but no you can’t see your parents/grandparents is just ridiculous and I’m just done. My mental health this year has been better than it’s been in years until this week and I can feel myself on a very slippery slope. Lockdown with my DH at work this time round and it just being me and DS at home with no options for him to go to grandparents may just break me completely. I’m still furloughed for another 6 weeks or so so at least I don’t need to cater in WFH for a while.
I’m off to bed in the hope I wake up tomorrow and the world is a lovely place again.

beansonbread · 16/09/2020 22:04

Dressing = dreading

BexR · 16/09/2020 22:06

Hello! How long is a local lockdown usually? Or am I asking how long a piece of string is?!

Sorry to everyone who is struggling at this hint of an announcement Flowers

outofthemoon · 16/09/2020 22:09

Does anyone know if this means no travel into or out of the NE for holiday?
