Quarantining : 2 weeks! Can they track you?

Just that.

If you're meant to be quarantining, they call you to ask if you're home. Can they track you?

Has anyone had these calls?

And I don't think it's massive big deal for someone without no symptoms who was in France or the USA last week to pop into a shop in an emergency.

Don't go out to the pubs or shopping at Primark. Don't go to work. Don't have friend's over. You won't be infecting people. It's not a big deal.

But this pandemic isn't like Chernobyl. We're not radioactive.

Juststopswimming · 19/08/2020 13:54

No you are selfish because you think getting tampons warrants you breaking quarantine.

Its posts like this that make me despair for what our society has become. Someone needs tampons, who has been in - SHOCK HORROR - another country where the covid rates are, lets face it, not dissimilar or lower even, than many places in the UK; and they are called selfish?! JFC

JustGettingStarted · 19/08/2020 13:55

I haven't actually gone out for tampons. 😂

But of course it wouldn't be selfish. I don't know what you'd expect someone to do. I actually get periods so heavy that for one 24 hour stretch I have to wear Tena incontinence pants. If someone lives alone and somehow forgot to buy them they might well need tampons.

And the tampons that induce such selfish behaviour are imaginary anyway - whatever next! Wink

maggiso · 19/08/2020 14:06

If they can’t check on every one- ( which I am sure they can’t) I imagine they would concentrate their efforts on those they are most concerned about - for instance those who travelled on a plain where others have subsequently become ill, or who travelled through or from an area known to be a particular risk? But who knows-. Perhaps it’s completely random!

Yes they can and do track you. The UK has more CCTV cameras than most other countries, they circulate your photo and then the CCTV operators look for you, if they see you out then the police pay you a visit.
JustGettingStarted · 19/08/2020 14:09

I'm www.healthline.com/nutrition/is-red-meat-bad-for-you-or-good#section8 it's random.

A few weeks ago news reports said they were checking the on 20% of people. They have since added more countries and a lot of people went on holiday to France. I doubt that percentage will increase.

JustGettingStarted · 19/08/2020 14:11

😂 I'm pretty sure that if there's any involvement with CCTV, it's done with facial recognition software

Juststopswimming · 19/08/2020 14:13

And where do they get your photo from in the first place to hunt you down then?!

From your driving licence or passport as these are now stored electronically or from the CCTV cameras at the testing centres and hospitals.

wow and yet only 1 fine for breaking quarantine has been issued in the entire time. We either have a very law abiding society; or the what you're suggesting above really isnt happening. Which do you think it is?

notimagain · 19/08/2020 14:21

So you're saying these CCTV operators are issued with/the facial recognition system is loaded with facial images of everybody who enters the UK who needs to quarantine???

ListeningQuietly · 19/08/2020 14:22

75% of people now testing positive are healthy with no symptoms

In my city the infection rate is 4 per 100,000 this week, last week it was 2
shock horror, doubling of the rate

The massive hospital is not treating any covid cases

Its amazing how weak people are at analysing risk

JustGettingStarted · 19/08/2020 14:24

If they were doing that, we'd hear about it. Just like getting caught on a speed camera - it would be the basis of of the fine.

This would be in the media and there'd be a lot of uproar over "Big Brother."

Facial recognition software has been controversial as it is tuning out to be less than reliable.

No.
It has been ruled illegal
as its racist

As it happens passports and driving licence photos are stored electronically, when my daughter got her first driving licence it gave her the option to have her passport photo used instead of posting one to them. Consequently she is age 14 on her driving licence photo.

As fo the CCTV operators, yes, the facial images are loaded onto the systems. As lockdown means they are not training pigs it's been subcontracted to the flying pig company. Did you lot know that gullible has been taken out of the dictionary? Grin

sergeilavrov · 19/08/2020 14:42

They randomly sample those who are supposed to be in quarantine for checks. That is a completely normal and reasonable method of conducting these checks, and for those who think they should be checking on every single person daily - please don't go into the public sector, what a waste... I know a number of people who got £1,000 fines - some of whom, for every member of their family. When they reapplied to return to the UK for another trip last week, the embassy refused to fast track their visa.

Some people will believe or spout any shit these days.

Facial recognition software works really well with a face covering, which I'm sure these people are wearing, as our dictator has enforced.

I know what's coming next, you write facial recognition software. Well if you want to argue the toss on that technology, start up a thread and do your best.
