More easing? Please 3 households indoor at a time so our holiday can go ahead!

I think he made an assumption that the person's asking was single. If she is then the grandparents have been able to bubble for a while. If she isn't and lives with a partner they can't

KillerTCell · 17/07/2020 11:35

Handling of the pandemic = clusterfuck

and its going to be a terrible winter, but never mind, we can go to the pub and sports and hug everyone Hmm

EmMac7 · 17/07/2020 11:35

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Apparently.

ElizabethG81 · 17/07/2020 11:36

They really need Whitty and Vallance there, he and Dido are making a hash of it.

"I think you'll be alright for child care" 😂

Justjoinedforthis · 17/07/2020 11:36

@mrsed1987 Aha I see. Yes to me it sounded like she meant her + her partner needed grandparents (plural) and he said it was fine for them to join the bubble.

labyrinthloafer · 17/07/2020 11:36

I actually feel quite nauseous watching this.

VinoOlive · 17/07/2020 11:37

I can barely follow a word he's saying, it's just waffle.

BooseysMom · 17/07/2020 11:38

He is a terrible public speaker. Said 'systems' instead of 'symptoms'! Trying to pass the blame onto employers re:working from home.

So true. He makes alot of blunders. There was a great one a while back when he said 'virus'' instead of 'vaccine' so it was something like he hoped the virus would be rolled out to everyone...blah blah..and he suddenly realised what he said and corrected himself! Grin

labyrinthloafer · 17/07/2020 11:38

It is dangerous to have a waffling wanker in charge right now.

KillerTCell · 17/07/2020 11:38

Is he pissed?

WeAllHaveWings · 17/07/2020 11:39

Shite questioning from the media. "How confident are you we can sit around the table at Christmas?"

How about a real question - Wales, NI, Scotland are working to an elimination strategy. What is the strategy for UK/England? - Hope for the best?

tappitytaptap · 17/07/2020 11:40

Just hug your family if you want to! I can’t imagine waiting all those months to do it to be honest. We have small children and they aren’t great at social distancing so we have let them hug family and my parents help with childcare. We don’t see anyone else inside or go to crowded restaurants/pubs/hairdressers.

mylittleyumyum · 17/07/2020 11:40

So, my understanding is -

Masks to be compulsory at home
Only maternal grandparents may be cuddled
Strangers can use your toilet, but only if they remain 1 metre from you
Bubbles must be a physical construct. They have to be made from pyrex
We must return to work, unless our work is more than 2 metres from our home
Gloves to be worn on public transport and when eating

whereistherum · 17/07/2020 11:41

I may have missed it, but was there anything said about public transport for non essential use?

blibblibs · 17/07/2020 11:42

I think the message there from Boris was "I've had enough of this, crack on and do what you want"

ElizabethG81 · 17/07/2020 11:43

I think he said public transport can be used for any reason now, but still try to use other alternatives if possible.
BarefootHippieChick · 17/07/2020 11:43

Pub and sports. Pretty much sums up England.

neutralintelligence · 17/07/2020 11:44

How is this consistent with the billions announced today for the NHS to prepare for a second wave? Or is this why the NHS will need billions because the government is going to allow a second wave?

FizzyGreenWater · 17/07/2020 11:45

It's like we don't actually have a prime minister Grin

labyrinthloafer · 17/07/2020 11:45

Yes indeed. I am absolutely dreading this winter. They do not give a shit.
MrsWhites · 17/07/2020 11:46

@tappitytaptap I totally agree. My children have been allowed to hug their grandparents too. We haven’t been to the pub, to shopping centres etc. It’s just not common sense to say you can’t hug a grandparent when other people can go to the pub, primark or school!

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 17/07/2020 11:48

Do you know i looked at this and thought ‘really?’

And then i clicked on

And I’m honestly not that stupid 😀 honestly!

But nothing surprises me about some of these rules anymore

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/07/2020 11:48

Can't believe that large gatherings in sports stadiums are planned from Autumn. Particularly when schools across the country are battling with the recent guidelines to be able to open in a manner resembling normal in September Angry

BarefootHippieChick · 17/07/2020 11:49

pumpkin pie I don't get that either, but as long as we can all go to the pub for our much needed pint and watch the footie....

Stopyourhavering64 · 17/07/2020 11:49

I'll have been shielding ( but working from home) for 5 months by time I return to work as HCP in hospital in August....feel like a lamb to the slaughter....after 33 yrs in NHS seriously considering retirement ...the government are reckless and clearly not listening to the scientific community
