And answer questions today. I wonder if he's doing the briefing today with Bozo?!

I wonder how this will go?!

OP posts:
SmileyFaceSadFace · 25/05/2020 17:42

OMFG!!! He almost had me until the test drive story.

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 25/05/2020 17:43

The testing the eyesight story is utter crap. Its so obviously a lie...

Why can't he just admit he made a mistake and apologise? This is where the problem is and people are going to say fuck the rules.

KatySun · 25/05/2020 17:44

So where in the guidance did it say you could leave home for childcare?
I am asking as I am a single parent, and I was ill with covid 19 as were both my children and I missed that bit of guidance. I understood that people could come to help me, as a vulnerable person, ie getting my shopping and leaving it on the doorstep, but not that I could travel to them Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 25/05/2020 17:44

"why was no one up in arms when Prince Charles moved from London to Scotland when he had the virus!!"

Several of us on MN objected when the the RF fled all over the country to their 3rd, 4th, 5th... 19th homes

However, at least the RF don't make the laws
and they don't pretend to be anything but an elite above normal rules.

HeIenaDove · 25/05/2020 17:45

Im not going to visit my parents I made that point because i thought someone who feels sorry for him would view me differently IF i did the same

And i got proved right!!

mooffie · 25/05/2020 17:45

That's the thing the Barnard Castle is bullshit. Just say sorry

BamboozledandBefuddled · 25/05/2020 17:45

I'm waiting for Johnson to issue the following statement:

'Following recent events, I wish to make it absolutely clear that the Great British Public are so completely lacking in common sense that they failed to realise they could ignore guidance any time they liked and claim 'exceptional circumstances'. This includes people whose family members died alone, people who did not attend loved one's funerals and people who were seriously ill who continued to care for their children. There was never any need for you to adhere to the rules this strictly and if you had asked us, we would have told you so'.

When Johnson publicly states that, I'll concede that Cummings' statement was reasonable.

averylongtimeago · 25/05/2020 17:46

Nanalisa but there was a fuss about Prince Charles- lots of criticism on here, social media and in the less brown nosed press.

BigChocFrenzy · 25/05/2020 17:46

The government kept bombarding the public with warning posters like this:

Sky News - Cummings to make a rare statement...
averylongtimeago · 25/05/2020 17:48

I had my eyes tested at the opticians- not by loading my dgc in the car and driving to see if I "felt safe"
He's a fucking two faced lying cuntweasle

PJ6M · 25/05/2020 17:49

why was no one up in arms when Prince Charles moved from London to Scotland when he had the virus

Strawman argument. Charles didn't make up the rules, and then insist that it was vitally important that everyone follow them except for him.

The press are a joke in this country, I agree. But that doesn't make Cummings undeserving of scrutiny.

I actually agree that it's all out of proportion. If they apologised, paid the fine for breaching the coronavirus rules, and showed some humility the story would go away. It's the breathtaking arrogance and refusal to apologise that is the problem.

It's just another sorry chapter of the long-winded tale of why this country is a laughing stock around the world.

S0phisticatedSal · 25/05/2020 17:49

Except opticians are closed.

SimonJT · 25/05/2020 17:49

I’ve had five beers this afternoon, just popping for a 90 minute drive to see if I’m drunk, just loading my four year old into the car.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 25/05/2020 17:50

Are we not having the daily briefing today, you know about the thing that really matters to all of us - the coronavirus pandemic?

BigChocFrenzy · 25/05/2020 17:51

His problem is that two other people, probably far more actual use than he is,

apologised and resigned because they broke the rules

  • which was the right thing to do, when you've fucked up
Horehound · 25/05/2020 17:52

OK, then everyone that the police turned back or fined can now take legal action

Well yeh if they have similar circumstances I'd agree. What's your point?
The fact the government weren't more clear is their failing, not his.

Horehound · 25/05/2020 17:52

He hasn't fucked up though. Well the Barnard castle drive was a fuck up tbf

BamboozledandBefuddled - It's bloody JRM on Grenfell all over again, isn't it? Of course, people like them would ignore the official advice because it's just the common sense thing to do.

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/05/2020 17:55

The man is an utter cunt. What the fuck does he think the rest of us have done - we stayed home, cared for our children, tried to do our day job while home schooling and caring for anxious children, we stayed away from family, begged and borrowed food, have lost businesses and livelihoods following his fucking rules, children dying without family, funerals without mourners.

But his circumstances were exceptional, his situation was “special”. It was a really simple message - if you’re symptomatic, stay home and isolate. Makes me so fucking angry, the sacrifices people have made when apparently we could all just use our common sense and instinct. Fucking cunt that he is.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/05/2020 17:56

Barrrnarrrd Castle. Never before has it had so many r's as on Sky News.

Cherryghost · 25/05/2020 17:57

Opticians aren't closed. I've been to one

HeIenaDove · 25/05/2020 17:57

Except opticians are closed

Yet its not OK to have someone round to cut your hair because hairdressers are closed.

But its OK to test your eyesight by a drive to a beauty spot

You sound ridiculous.

SimonJT · 25/05/2020 17:57

@Horehound From what he said today his wife put paramedics, hospital staff and patients at risk. He also returned to work before his 14 day isolation was over putting everyone he came into contact with at risk. He drove illegally.

hamstersarse · 25/05/2020 17:59

Is anyone really that arsed about this?
