And answer questions today. I wonder if he's doing the briefing today with Bozo?!

I wonder how this will go?!

Honestly you couldn't make this up!

Ridiculous!

jugglingbeans · 25/05/2020 13:50

He doesn't have the humility to publicly stand down

If only he wouldn't be given the choice. He shouldn't be given the chance to resign, he should have been sacked already.

theseriousmoonlight · 25/05/2020 13:50

He might be taking questions but will he actually answer them? With real answers?

Itisasecret · 25/05/2020 13:52

That’s against the code of conduct for public advisors, so what the fuck they are thinking is beyond me.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 13:53

We are fully down a totally mental In The Thick of It Dominishambles rabbit hole now - BJ is proving top value on the parody front if nothing else. One thing we can be sure of is he will lie. That's a given.

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 13:54

Do we know its going t be part of the briefing at 4pm?

My MP just retweeted this:

You can...
Exercise without time limits
Spend time outdoors with your household
BUT
Be respectful of local communities
Social distance at all times
Plan in advance - don't assume car parks & toilets are open
Leave if it's too busy
Do not stay overnight

Did DC stay overnight in Durham?

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 25/05/2020 13:56

I think he will stand down. Anything else will just make it worse and knows that.
He will then just go on doing a similar thing, but without an official job title.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 25/05/2020 13:56

What an absolute circus. They should be deeply embarrassed by the way they have managed this whole debacle.

Notmyrealname855 · 25/05/2020 13:57

Domnishambles!!

Bluebellpainting · 25/05/2020 13:58

Just a couple of questions I would like him to answer- not that they will be- just politician’s favourite method of talking around the question.

  1. Why did you feel that it was necessary to drive 260 miles for childcare ‘just in case’- Surely the more logical and more instinctive response would be for your symptom free family member to be on stand by to travel down to you if needed?
  2. The Prime Minister stated yesterday that you travelled to arrange the ‘right sort of childcare’. Key workers etc have been told not to use grandparents or other family for childcare. They have often been using less than ideal childcare options- what, if anything, about this situation is different?
  3. Your wife’s spectator article implies that you isolated in London- why if you have done nothing wrong was this the case?
BigChocFrenzy · 25/05/2020 13:58

"Domnishambles" 👏🏼

Hoppinggreen · 25/05/2020 14:01

He’s going to try and pull the child with SN card
Total insult to parents with SN children who have struggled but still obeyed the rules

dollyknocker · 25/05/2020 14:03

@notmyrealname85 has it I think. He will be going for the sympathy.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 14:03

They are already planning the return...

jugglingbeans · 25/05/2020 14:06

I've just read the Spectator link. I'm furious about this

gathering as a family ahead of grief would be an understandable act. It would not, however, under the law and the government’s guidance at the time, have been justified

So driving north for unecessary childcare was justified but doing it with a family bereavement imminent/recent wouldn't be? How does that make any sense?

MinteeFresh · 25/05/2020 14:06

what time? I feel the need to watch and mock.

Lonelycrab · 25/05/2020 14:08

If he goes I’ll dance a little danceSmile

Not holding my breath though; more slippery than an eel in a vat of oil.

I'm no expert on politics, but isn't a major piece of news that an advisor is giving a press conference and taking questions as though he's an elected official?

They can't even be arsed to keep up the pretence that this is a democracy anymore. The arrogant cunts know that people will forget all about this when the scale of economic damage starts to kick in, and people are more concerned about where their next meal is coming from than who's running the country.

Itisasecret · 25/05/2020 14:10

If he does pull the child with SN card he’s finished. There is mounting anger from the SN community he may be considering that. Especially when the Tory governments have cut support for those families to the bone. In support groups I’m in, I’ve seen suicidal parents, parents at the end of their tether asking social services for help and getting no where. Thousands of parents have had to cope and were told to stay at home. He’d better not fucking dare.

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2020 14:12

It will be fascinating to hear him speak.
Will it be ' mockney' or plum in the mouth type diction? I've never heard him say anything before!

StealthPolarBear · 25/05/2020 14:12

Hopping Green, not only that, but the rules listed exceptions. There are plenty of families with children with various SEN. if that were to be a good reason for exemption, or would have been sensible to explicitly state that, in the same way as the said, for example, to access medical help.
