I noted that only one expert was there today. Usually two.

It’s usually only one these days, especially at the weekend. I don’t think you can really read anything into that.

The80sweregreat · 23/05/2020 18:39

They've had Linda from Bolton ask ' when I can I see my grandkids' ? Only a few short weeks ago.
DC's mum could see her grandkids easily enough because her son though this would be ok even though he really shouldn't have.
Lots of grandparents will be beyond angry today.

The80sweregreat · 23/05/2020 18:43

At the start of all this I spotted boxes of food and probably loo roll go into number 10 on the news.
Why couldn't he ask his boss for a food parcel or four? I'm sure Boris could have handed out the pasta and loo rolls from his stash or lend him the number of a local nanny? There are ways round things!

ssd · 23/05/2020 18:43

He's said he doesn't care what it looks like, he doesn't care its not a good look.... Breaking his own rules....

Arrogant prick.

ssd · 23/05/2020 18:45

Lol at Boris on a ten day Whitsun break

I read that as one of those sun holidays you get for a tenner Grin

What the feck is Whitsun

Tavannach · 23/05/2020 18:46

Gosh @GoFigure I hadn't heard of this.

It’s Carole Cadwalla and the thread is rather frightening.

That is frightening.
(Sorry, can't copy link properly on this phone - it's antique.)

At 31st March the virus was at its peak in London but no where near the numbers in Durham
So he decides to drive his infected wife 260 miles to possibly spread it in the North East of England
Adviser to the PM
There's no hope for any of us when we have Boris and the government defending DC in this
And as for Jenny Harries I have now lost all faith in anything she says
Unbelievable shambles of a government
I am truly astounded at their arrogance in thinking the general public are foolish enough to believe their lies
They've just destroyed their reputation and made their advice regarding CV useless

janeyloves · 23/05/2020 18:50

When I had it, I couldn't have driven at all - I was too dizzy and coughing too much. He's a liar. As they all are.

anywinewilldonow · 23/05/2020 18:53

Another one here who is beyond angry over this.

I just can't understand why they have defended him? It makes them look stupid and incompetent to defend what we all know is completely indefensible. Even if they didn't want him to resign, they could have had him publicly apologise. At least then it wouldn't have made a mockery of the rules that the rest of us have been abiding by.

Elieza · 23/05/2020 18:55

FFS what is wrong with the rich and powerful, has it gone to their heads and now they think they can do anything?

If they think they can do anything, is there going to be a rash of them jumping off high buildings in superman outfits thinking the can fly?

Music101 · 23/05/2020 19:08

Yes and Jenny Harries defending it has made me ashamed. She should have refused to stand at the podium if they were going to make her come out with that claptrap.

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 19:13

Those last bugger teachers only get a week for "whitsun"

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 19:16

Oh dear, lazy bugger

Mulhollandmagoo · 23/05/2020 19:21

Me either OP, I was cringing through the sheer awkwardness of that briefing 😬 so god only knows how he felt, he nearly dived through the TV screen to kiss that guy who asked him a question on transport 😂

I do however feel sorry for him, it wasn't really in his remit to be answering those sorts of questions as transport sec. If Boris Johnson was any sort of leader, he'd have been heading that briefing today given the uproar that Dominic Cummings has caused, and not just sent poor Grant.

user1487194234 · 23/05/2020 19:23

It was car crash TV
Boris should have had the balls to come on

Ultrasoft · 23/05/2020 19:25

@Mulhollandmagoo spot on

I always let my staff take the easy or positive presentations. Anything tricky that will get hard challenges I step up and take myself.

AnyFucker · 23/05/2020 19:34

A sign of a good leader is they will put themselves on the line during the bad times.

Cowardly of Boris. Shame on him.

The80sweregreat · 23/05/2020 19:35

Whitsun is the old fashioned season at the end of May including the bank holiday Monday. I think it was something to do with the church , but I could be wrong?
It was the Whitsun holiday when I was little but I've not heard called it called this in a while.
I'm sure that Dom is going somewhere nice judging by the things he had in the boot of his car earlier on tv news, bikes and footballs etc , but who knows?

StealthPolarBear · 23/05/2020 19:38

Anothee thing I am confused by. Apparently the police have never spoken to him, according to the government. Yet its reported that Durham police say they did.
Ooh I follow them on Facebook. Wonder if they've posted anything recently.

I've nothing else useful to add, except that I happen to know Scant Scraps is a right dickhead. Full of his own importance and will do anything to climb the greasy pole. Hence he is actually liked by Boris.

He's already fallen from grace once though, so I expect he'll do so again at some point.

Pompous fuckers the lot of them.

The80sweregreat · 23/05/2020 19:48

If Boris was in front of the firing squad he'd wriggle out of it and just be surrounded by all the dead colleagues! ' oh, how did that happen?' ' I must be off , bye'

StealthPolarBear · 23/05/2020 19:49

While thanking them for working day and night, night and day, for their valuable contribution

OP posts:
FloggingMoll · 23/05/2020 19:50

How do we get rid of them? How can we oust these arrogant fucks from power? I've voted in every election since I was old enough to do so. How can we get these bastards OUT??

The80sweregreat · 23/05/2020 19:51

Hancock tweeting support finished me off hours ago. To think I defended him on here once! I'm ashamed of myself but I am normally a fair minded person and I did feel a bit sorry for him at first.

PotholeParadise · 23/05/2020 20:01

Durham pilice said they spoke to the home-owners and were told a man from London was self-isolating at the property. For reasons of not wanting his germs, they wouldn't have spoken to Cummings himself because he was isolating, but that means Cummings can play silly buggers and say the police didn't speak to him about this. It's the literal truth, but still intended to mislead.
