We are the only household on our road following the rules 😡

Opposite house to the left has has plenty of visitors going in and out.

Elderly couple opposite - their family has been visiting every two or three days.

Bloke opposite to the right has been having parties.

To our right elderly lady has had her adult children round.

To our left were going out repeatedly when it was only allowed once a day, and then a couple of days ago had some friends round.

Next door to them has been the worst, absolute Piccadilly Circus. Visitors, parities, all sorts.

And now next door to that one are having a BBQ with five adults - only two live in the house!

I’ve reported Piccadilly Circus loads but have never seen the police come to talk to her.

It makes me SO angry. We would do anything to see our family and friends and our new baby niece. It’s driving me mad that we are the only people actually following the rules. Angry

No wonder our R rate is so high.

Tbh op the meeting up at the park criteria is very very poorly though through. If everyone met up with only one friend at the park, parks would be chockablock crowded with no possibility to socially distant or protect the disabled. It actually makes far more sense to meet up and socially distance in your own garden and leave the park to the dog walkers, people who want to exercise and those, without their own outside space.

We've been told to expect a second wave at the end of the summer (key worker here).

It is all very well saying people are desperate to see their family but doing the wrong thing or not taking sufficient care could end in a death.

OP, how do you have such a detailed account of your neighbours lives? I haven't got the foggiest clue what my neighbours are doing.

I work from home and my desk is against the front window. In the evenings the sofa is next to the front window. It’s very easy to look out of windows, especially when there isn’t much on TV. Grin Gardens overlook each other too.

I couldn't get myself worked up about it tbh. My neighbour has stuck to the rules religiously but her father became gravely ill this week so all the family have been coming in & out of the house (she has 3 adult children, 3 GC and 1 on the way) I assume for emotional support of each other.

But I'm not intending going over and licking any of them so 🤷‍♀️

We are following the rules, doesn't bother me if my neighbours feel they need family around them. Parties would bother me more probably because they can be so anti social even without covid.

Are you sure you don't want a medal, you sound very proud of the fact you've reported the BBQers!

Report them where? And what was the response?

Parties are just daft, but who knows the exact circumstances behind the rest. I see neighbours curtains twitching when I go out - I’m not nhs, but am a key worker and have gone in three days a week since lockdown. I’d like to think they had figured that out, but the look I got from one recently indicates otherwise.
Am also primary carer for my mum, very robust health, but nearly 90. One other family member, who wfh was supposed to take this over so I could distance - think they’ve got “bored” with it now though, So to my mums neighbours she’s had x2 the number of usual visitors - I’m trying to stay home, but sometimes it’s quite tricky.

The epidemic will be over soon. Good luck with the rest of your life when your neighbours find out who the local Quisling was.

My guess is they already know which is why - much to her chagrain - she's not being invited to all those roaring parties and BBQs.

Incidentally, what's with the BBQs on MN? We've had posters going on about their neighbours having BBQs ever since lockdown started 8 weeks ago. If there was that much BBQing happening, the skies over England should be filled with a smokey haze!

Only on MN?

That's the view I'm taking Haffiana. If I could get myself worked up enough to care what the neighbours were doing I'd still think I've got to live alongside the after all this.

None of them have become ill, right?

So they are obviously taking sufficient measures to avoid contracting the illness.

Maybe you could ask them for advice on how to get the balance right, like them.

What a interfering busybody hero you are. I'm sure Captain Tom will share his knighthood with you and how disappointing that you reporting your neighbour to the police multiple times has not resulted in them being incarcerated for their heinous crime.

I think YABU. I don't worry about what other people do, just about what we do as a family. We've pretty much stuck to all the guidelines, I don't see it's any of my business what NDNs do.

So the BBQers have just gone out to the front and had a good clap. So tempted to go and ask them why they were being such hypocrites. 🧐

@HatRack to the police via the Covid reporting section on the website. Every area has one.

I just did my clap. While watching my neighbours parents and brothers car parked right outside my house while they were all in visiting her. Three households including oldies and kids. Great.
No clapping from them or her ever so at least they arent hypocrites even if they feel the rules don’t apply to them.

I’ve just watched three families from my road clapping for carers. They’ve been consistently breaking lockdown rules, kids playing together, mums drinking wine sitting side by side. Bunch of hypocrites

A few weeks ago this would have annoyed me but we are past the peak now and people need to start to make decisions for themselves about what is a risk and what is not. People cannot live in isolation forever.
