@Babdoc Sorry to hear you still suffering like this at 6 months. It sounds as if you are recovering just at a slower rate than we have - i was never in hospital. I am just 6 months in now. I fell ill beginning of April. I am glad they are listening to you and you are going for tests etc. Let us know how you get on.

@RickyBooth glad to hear you are feeling better and almost no symptoms. Mine seem to come and go - some days worse than others.... hopefully in a couple of months i will have no symptoms at all Smile

I was on one of the original threads of this. I was lucky in that my symptoms weren't as bad as some of your poor things, you were really suffering Flowers but my lungs still burned and I felt really ill.
I eventually recovered and have been feeling ok albeit my right lung still burns occasionally.
DD went back to school and now her year has been sent home due to some positive cases, one of whom sat next to her in one of her classes.
I now think I have had a second bout of this, whether it's a mutation of it I don't know but I do know it felt exactly the same but much milder and for a few days only. But I suddenly needed my inhaler and felt really rough, coughing etc and suddenly no sense of taste or smell which I only properly realised when it started to return a bit. I have been taking liposomal vitamin c which I think made a massive impact on my improvement.
Sleeping face down really helped my breathing and I believe they are doing this in hospital too. Does anyone else think they recovered and got it again?
Btw I feel great again but I'm a bit worried I'm about to get hit with the '10 day whammy'

RickyBooth · 04/10/2020 19:48

@bumhead Its scary to think that still so much is unknown about this virus and if indeed you can contract it twice scares the hell out of me after the months of suffering. On the whole it cost me my job in the end i decided i was still to weak to carry on the night shift but now i'm getting back to full strength. My daughter has also gone back to school and i fear everyday. Fingers crossed you dont get a 10 day whammy.

RickyBooth · 04/10/2020 19:50

@Annie20061 Fantastic to hear yes its taken so long to shift it all out of our systems.

Theforest · 05/10/2020 16:56

Great to hear most of us are finally recovering - practically 6 months now. It is worrying to think it may come back with a second infection. They seem to say that infections are less powerful now thankfully, so we were unlucky to be affected at the beginning.

Annie20061 · 05/10/2020 19:39

@Theforest yes they are saying that the masks are helping so you get a lower viral load - perhaps that is why China never had has many deaths. Weird today i have had SOB snd a twitching left eye... never had that before.

@bumhead so sorry to hear you have it again thats awful. To be honest I’m very worried about it - i am out doing viewings on houses being an estate agent ☹️

@theforest Glad to hear you're feeling much better. All good here still got the clogged throat feeling but I'm learning to live with it, as doctors don't know what it is. Thank you for asking.

Annie20061 · 17/11/2020 16:49

Hello @RickyBooth @Theforest @JustMeG @Babdoc just checking in and seeing how you all are doing in this second lockdown? I have been working still some days are harder than others. I am off this week & struggling with rib pain, sob & feel as though I’m coming down with a cold. Still seems to go round in cycles of feeling better then bad again.

I hope you are all fully better now or nearly there. I keep asking my doctor to help with the breathing but there isn’t much they can do

Babdoc · 17/11/2020 17:30

Hi Annie (and everyone). I’m sorry to hear you’re having a bad week - bloody long Covid does seem to have this pattern of regular relapses, doesn’t it.
I’m still breathless at 100 yards, but my muscles are recovered. I mowed my own lawn for the first time in six months, and managed to climb a local hill, albeit slowly and with many stops to get my heart rate back down and my breath back.
I’m coping with basic chores, and doing half an hour of gardening at a time, but my lungs don’t feel as though they’ve made any progress at all. I suspect that after eight months now, I’m probably stuck with this level of disability. I just hope I don’t get another Covid infection now my immunity has waned, before the vaccine becomes available. I don’t think I could survive another acute attack followed by eight months of chronic ill health.

Annie20061 · 17/11/2020 18:04

@Babdoc i am 8 months as well. I am sorry to hear that you cannot do that much without the sob affecting you. My heart rate is now under control, though a couple of months ago it wasn’t. I am really worried about catching it again as well - there have been 3 near misses at work and we all work closely together.

I really hope you start to feel better soon.

Have you been speaking to your doctor? Have they been doing anything for you? I have heard about long covid centres but my GP doesn’t know anything about these yet.

OP posts:
Babdoc · 17/11/2020 22:00

I’ve had all the blood tests, chest x rays, CT pulmonary angios etc. But there isn’t any actual treatment.
My local hospital has a good Covid team (I used to work with the lead consultant when he was a registrar, decades ago!) and there is a self referral long Covid rehab clinic run by physio’s and OT’s. But it’s basically just graduated exercise and breathing exercises - which I can do anyway at home.
I am grateful to be alive, (even in this crap condition!) and I am now sleeping for 6 to 8 hours a night off oxygen, which is great, and I can still manage to walk two miles if I keep stopping for breathers. I just wish I could go out one morning and jog (or even walk briskly) the 100 yards to the village shop without gasping when I get there! Thank goodness I’ve never smoked, if this is what Covid does to healthy lungs.

RickyBooth · 17/11/2020 23:30

@Annie20061Great to hear from you yes i'm almost full recovery but still every now and again have the lump in throat felling and a little lung burn @Babdoc Sorry to hear your still suffering its so slow for us guys to shift

Theforest · 18/11/2020 18:03

Hi guys. Good to catch up with you.
At least we all seem to be improving.
I am still not 100% - still get a burning chest sometimes, but in general I am fine. Still working from home, so lucky in that way.
I still haven't gone back to GP as I don't think they will do anything. Fairly mild compared to some I know. I am just hoping it will just go one day!!

RickyBooth · 18/11/2020 19:13

@Theforest That's fantastic news sounds like your allot like me. You feel that there is something still there lingering but not like before.

JustMeG · 07/12/2020 14:41

Just checking in. How are you all?

Theforest · 07/12/2020 15:55

Hi @JustMeG
I am not too bad but I have finally contacted my GP. While nothing is debilitating, the chest burning has been playing on my mind in case of something serious. I still get the occasional heart palpitations too.

I had an ECG, blood pressure, blood tests (didn't tell me for what) and recommended for a chest X-ray. All sounds a bit daunting but I just want to be checked out I guess.

How about you? Are you any better?

JustMeG · 07/12/2020 16:13

@Theforest sorry to hear your still having problems. Hopefully there's nothing serious going on. Better to be safe than sorry so it's good your getting checked.

Not to bad here thanks.

Theforest · 22/12/2020 13:00

@Annie20061 @rickyBooth @JustMeG @Babdoc

Hi guys. Update on me. All tests are fine, except I have low levels of B12 so need to take supplements for that and go back to be checked in a month. There seems to be some links to B12 deficiency and covid too I have found googling.

Did anyone else have blood tested?

Hope you all have a good (albeit strange!) Christmas. We are in tier 2, so relatively OK.

Annie20061 · 22/12/2020 14:14

@Theforest i have had blood tested but not sure they checked for vitamin b12 deficiency. Still tired, achey, sore throat & ribs & sometimes breathless - feel a bit better month on month so getting there slowly.

Petrified of getting it again- i am in tier 4 with the new variant. Having a quiet Christmas with my partner & the cats 🐈

Wishing everybody a lovely Christmas & hoping that 2021 is a much, much better year Xmas Grin

OP posts:
RickyBooth · 22/12/2020 23:41

@Annie20061 @Theforest I also had blood tests but also unsure if checked for b12. I still get the odd niggle and strange felling in lungs / chest like an ache. But overall much better we are in tier 2 but still doing everything i can to stay safe and keep family safe. Also wishing you all a merry christmas and happy new year.

Babdoc · 23/12/2020 09:49

Happy Christmas to all on the thread. I’m praying we all get our vaccinations before much longer, and that none of us get the new variant.
I’m still breathless and coughing at 9 months, but planning to have my DD and her partner here for Christmas. Just sad their three days with me has been cut to one, before I have to go back into solitary confinement, but they are driving up at midnight as soon as it’s legal, to make the most of every hour.

Annie20061 · 09/04/2021 07:18

@Babdoc I am so sorry I have only just seen your message. I hope you had a good Christmas, I was sad it was cut as well, and I hope that you are much better. My breathing gradually got better and better until 11 months in and now my breathing is fine. Just passed 12 months and still get tired if I do too much, aches, snotty nose, sore throat & flem in throat - not all the time a week or so then ok for 4-5 days then its back again. I’m working fine and can do light exercise walking & my exercise bike 15 minutes a day.

I hope you have had your injections now. I am still waiting for my injection. Hope everyone else is gradually getting better

OP posts:
Babdoc · 09/04/2021 09:41

Hi Annie20061. I’m so pleased that your breathing has improved. The fatigue and snottiness etc are manageable if you pace yourself - you seem to have found the balance for coping with it.
I had a lovely Easter with my other DD and her partner, who I hadn’t seen since September. I managed two slow walks of about two miles each with them, and mowed my lawn and cleaned the house before they arrived, but I an wiped out now with a long Covid relapse - coughing half the night, puffed at 100 yards, tired just sitting on the sofa.
I had my first Pfizer shot in Feb, which worsened the painful frozen shoulder I’ve had for six months (ever since my flu jab), but I was glad to get it.
Life is beginning to open up now lockdown is easing. I have a haircut booked (I warned the hairdresser he will need sheep shears!)
and I plan to go to the garden centre for bedding plants next week. My younger DD plans to visit over May bank holiday.
So, like you, I will pace myself and hope for some further improvement. I was v heartened to do so much around Easter, it was worth the relapse, to find I could walk a fair distance again. Onward and upward! And best wishes to you and all others who have been on this journey.
