I was watching GMB and This Morning today and they were talking about how the government press team wouldn't talk to either shows.
Surely this isn't acceptable??
The government can't just hide and not be interviewed?

Yes Morgan does ask the questions that we all want answering and I agree that no party or Govt should be allowed to pick and choose who it does interviews with or sends statements to. Really good to see reporters backing their colleague with Trump, such a shame the BBC and Sky won't do the same.

I agree with the government stance on this, it is so painful watching Piers Moaning Morgan and Susannah Simpering Reid "interview" their guests...well obviously I don't bother, I am just flicking by and sometimes get drawn in to watching in absolute open-mouthed horror. As for This Morning you couldn't pay me to watch it and thankfully some of us are still have work to do.

I’m not a fan of this government but Piers doesn’t let them get a word in , it’s uncomfortable viewing . There are more ways to get your points across then shouting people down .

Ok someboday explain this to me, the government made it clear they woud on sunday set out the plan for easing out of lockdown

So what is the entire purpose of the media to spend days running up to sunday putting article after article out saying it could mena this or that or this.

I don't get it! It was entire nonsense. How is that useful to anyone? It wasn't.

Why not wait until sunday and then ask the questions when you get the information given to you - instead the media start making shit up.

So please explain how the media helped us in those days running up to the announcement? So yes I stand by my opinion that the media should hold back and report on facts and then ask the questions once the information has come out, not go on some utter stupid frenzy prior to that.

Why is Piers still on this morning. He never lets anyone else get a word in

Annamaria14 · 12/05/2020 21:15

On the other one I mean - GMB

I’m not a fan of this government but Piers doesn’t let them get a word in , it’s uncomfortable viewing No he doesn't let them carry on with a load of waffle when asked a question. He pushes them to answer it.

Yesterday Dan on BBC was asking Matt Hancock about the deaths in care homes and people being transferred from hospital without testing, he just accepted MH saying that the govt had issued guidelines and that wasn't happening. I was waiting for Dan to ask when they issued that advice, how many were dying every day by the time they issued it but no he just went onto the next thing.

That isn't interviewing, that is just letting the govt use them as a propaganda opportunity.

No he definitely talks over them and doesnt let them say anything. The first 10 mins of it this morning was him arguing with Doctor Hilary, basically saying the econmony doesn't really matter. Then saying deaths are being frim covid are being hugely under reported. Even the ONS revised ones, because cause of death was being recorded as other things not covid. Apparently, he can't really seem to understand that people also die if other things.

His source was an unnamed mate of his who is the one of the 'most senior registrars' in the country.

We can all say we have an unnamed source. Look at it when this first started. So many people had a mate who worked for the MOD who sent them photos of the army, ready to enforce martial law and patrol the streets with guns.

Oh look, twas bollocks.

1forsorrow · 13/05/2020 14:21

I think he knows perfectly well people die of other things, that is the sort of rubbish he'd stop people saying. The ONS figures show the increase in deaths is far higher than the Covid figures which is entirely to be expected as people were dying in homes with Covid symptoms but they aren't counted as they couldn't have tests. So some of the excess deaths are probably due to people not seeking medical help but clearly many are due to Covid. It is a bit like sticking your fingers in yours ears and going lalalalalala so you can't hear the truth.
