Government won't talk to GMB and This Morning!!

Disneylover4321 · 11/05/2020 20:20

I was watching GMB and This Morning today and they were talking about how the government press team wouldn't talk to either shows.
Surely this isn't acceptable??
The government can't just hide and not be interviewed?

I understand that they do a daily briefing but people have questions that are not answered at the daily briefing.

The more appropriate medium would be to release press releases or statements, not talk to those airheads and hothead.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 12/05/2020 06:33

Yes credible piers morgan.

Just described his son as 'a little bit ocd'.

He doesn't want credible answers. Because he doesn't let people finish, if they aren't going to agree with him.

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 12/05/2020 06:33

I wouldn’t want to go on any program that piers Morgan was on. He doesn’t let anyone speak and just wants a argument. I just can’t watch him anymore!!

SophieB100 · 12/05/2020 06:37

Holly: "After the break, we're going to look at how to cut your own hair...look at the home made mask patterns you've been sending in, and then our special guests Chris and Matt are popping in to tell us all about that nasty bug that's doing the rounds."

Phil: " Yeah, great, lots to look forward to, join us after the break, but first here's a sneak peak at our new competition - you can win a year's supply of hand gel."

Doesn't quite work, does it OP?

Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:40

@Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget

That's not the point though.

The point is that the government is happy to appear on and be interviewed on other TV shows and inform their viewers with vital updates or clarity on certain things, so why should GMB viewers be any different?

OP posts:
Peggysgettingcrazy · 12/05/2020 06:46

because interviews on GMB rarely, actually get any further information.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 12/05/2020 06:48

Ohhh yep Piers is now saying that the health secretary, thinks that GMB viewers lives don't matter.

If that's true, that appearing on GMB is the only way to prove that their viewers lives matter, then maybe he needs to actually let people speak.

Does Piers not care about their lives, when he won't let guests speak?

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 12/05/2020 06:49

Because what’s the point of being interviewed by piers Morgan they would never be able to answer a question without him shouting the next one at him. Any other program then fair enough but this man is a nightmare.i have just switched on and it’s like he’s shouting at Dr Hilary and won’t let him answer...he needs to calm down ask questions but then let people answer!!

TheFairyCaravan · 12/05/2020 06:49

People can be as sneers as fuck about politicians going on This Morning, or GMB, all they like but the point is up until now they always have right back to Richard and Jude's time, It's bloody worrying when the Government will pick and choose who they talk and give interviews to, anyone would think they've got something to hide.

Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:50

@Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget

They don't have an excuse for refusing to appear on This Morning yesterday.

OP posts:
Peggysgettingcrazy · 12/05/2020 06:51

They don't need an excuse. This morning isn't a news programme.

Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:52

@TheFairyCaravan

It is worrying yes. Yes, it makes people think that they have something to hide.

They pick and choose the programmes which won't be harsh on them and ask credible questions and demand credible answers.

OP posts:
Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:53

@Peggysgettingcrazy

Yes Piers was just saying that and he has a very fair point and I agree with him.

OP posts:
TheFairyCaravan · 12/05/2020 06:54

They don't need an excuse. This morning isn't a news programme.

Well let's hope they remember that when they're doing the rounds next time there's an election then.

Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget · 12/05/2020 06:55

No they don’t and they should be appearing on TV to answer viewers questions but I’m just on about Piers Morgan iv never heard anyone just not let others speak like this before. I have to turn over which is a shame cuz I like to watch especially Dr Hilary but he just talks over everyone I just don’t know what GMB are thinking!!

Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:55

@thefairycaravan

Exactly, they are happy to speak to them in the middle of an election campaign but not during a national crisis, how does that make sense?

OP posts:
Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 06:56

@Youneverknowwhatyourgonnaget

I could agree slightly over the Piers Morgan bit but they really have no excuse for not appearing on This Morning or for not even providing a statement at the very least to This Morning.

Tactics straight out of the Trump playbook and long held right wing tactics .

Discredit the media so no one dares question them,

Yes it makes sense.
How many times can you say not right now and make it interesting.
Can we open bars? Not right now.
Well when? Not right now, the numbers are too high.
When will the numbers go down? When people stop seeing each other and passing the virus around.
Do when can we see people and family? Not right now.

Yes Piers was just saying that and he has a very fair point and I agree with him.

That by not appearing on GMB you don't care about those particular viewers?

So, gmb viewers don't have access to the Internet? Or other TV programmes.

There's no point wasting time being interviewed by someone who doesn't let you speak. Its a waste of everyone's time.

Disneylover4321 · 12/05/2020 07:03

@mummmy2017

What makes sense?

OP posts:
mummmy2017 · 12/05/2020 07:07

That the Government won't go on the shows.

rosie1959 · 12/05/2020 07:11

Piers just likes the sound of his own voice. He talks over anyone that trys to answer him
