Resigns after breaking the lockdown?

@Noeuf

Ferguson sits on GSK with Anderson. Anderson resigned from Oxford after claiming he had a sexual relationship with Professor Gupta. Ferguson has been mentored by Anderson.

It is a right sordid mess, Noeuf

I reckon statement will be released at midnight.

LilacTree1 · 05/05/2020 20:17

Imperial's model for Sweden said 40,000 deaths by 1st May?!

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall

florriepeck · 05/05/2020 20:21

Many thanks, OP: this has cheered me up no end.
Hope that now the next steps can be planned in light of more balanced and reliable information.

DuchessUke · 05/05/2020 20:23

"There is something of the night about that man" How so @Smilethoyourheartisbreaking? The plot thickens

Mikki2019 · 05/05/2020 20:24

That’s it !

End of lockdown - what a fkn hypocrite

TurquoiseDress · 05/05/2020 20:24

Wow he's resigned...noooo we actually need people like him at the moment!

I remember the study he lead which was published back in March, it made very frightening reading and it (apparently) directly led Boris to initiate the lockdown!

SouthWestmom · 05/05/2020 20:25

Cam and lilac thank you

Walkingtohealth · 05/05/2020 20:26

I've found Professor Gloomy's increasingly self-importance, media-attention-seeking etc, AND his lack of willingness to share code openly very annoying throughout this epidemic. Whether his resignation will prove to be in the country's interest or not, I can't say, but on another grim day I have to say that this story gave me a flicker of Schadenfreude.
In terms of timing... do other people think that Telegraph investigated and set up this story for political reasons? They've been trying to get Boris to end the lockdown for weeks.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/05/2020 20:28

What. Set up his mistress visiting him?

Kitchendoctor · 05/05/2020 20:30

No but possibly keeping tabs on him, watching his home etc... looking for any reason to discredit him

LilacTree1 · 05/05/2020 20:31

BakedCam I don't know.

I realise most of these statements come at midnight but I think this one is a bit juicier and will have a release for the evening news or the morning news.

I'd bet money but I don't have any. I can bet you a lemon ice lolly?!

They've been trying to get Boris to end the lockdown for weeks.

If they have been trying to get govt to end lockdown by end of May, I don’t get this as always looked that was the aim. If they have been trying for lockdown to end sooner then that’s different obviously.

daisychain01 · 05/05/2020 20:32

That photo of "the Woman" in the Telegraph link, what a load of misogynistic shite - of course she would be wearing 'harlot' bright red lipstick, wouldn't she.

Jeez unbelievable!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 05/05/2020 20:33

They didn’t need to look far.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/05/2020 20:35

The only one I trust is Chris Whitty, anyway.

Rosehip10 · 05/05/2020 20:36

There is something odd about this - I can't believe the press would be that interested in sage scientists to have journalists or photographers investigating him. Wonder how the most pro government paper got hold of this?

Let's hope there isn't a David Kelly type situation delvoping.

LilacTree1 · 05/05/2020 20:37

Rose - "I can't believe the press would be that interested in sage scientists to have journalists or photographers investigating him"

I thought they'd have them under watch 24/7 tbh.

Hope they fine him the relevant amount too. Ffs

NotAnotherUserNumber · 05/05/2020 20:38

@daisychain01

I don’t think you can blame that photo on misogyny, it’s her Facebook profile picture, so possibly the only publicly available picture they could legally use.

HeIenaDove · 05/05/2020 20:39

I wonder how many of those telling us to stay home have sneaked a mobile hairdresser in.
