I've read right through this thread, while waiting for a (Skype) appointment.
It's the first thing I have ever read that shows why politicians don't bother so much with the truth. People openly saying they don't want the honest answer, they just want to dream it will all be OK.
I'm sure we all understand the wish to 'get away' on holiday. It's great to be optimistic.
I am a pretty happy person but even I recognise that it's also important to have a plan about what you would do if things went wrong. For example, if you or a member of the family developed symptoms of COVID-19 when away.
Would you try and fly back anyway?
If not, where would you live? What would you live on?
How many people on that plane are asymptotic carriers and spreaders of the virus?
Travel insurance is not going to cover any things resulting from this virus. It's difficult to remember how things were before air travel was so affordable but ...
One of the things that had made travel so affordable for so many people since the '70s is the ever lowering of costs. Now, if only a few people are prepared to travel by plane, the cost of each plane flight is going to be a lot higher than before.
All in all, I'm not allowing myself to do anything other than dream about foreign travel for a good long time yet.
