Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

Oh I thought the MN lockdown rules were more lax than that.

Littlebelina · 28/04/2020 11:30

That's what I've read a various threads anyway. It's bonkers on here sometimes

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2020 11:30

My interpretation of mumsnet rules is strict 1 hr exercise, only to going to the shops once a week to buy essentials ONLY (which doesn't cover tea, milk, bread, pasta or cucumbers to name a few) and only key workers going to work. So much stricter than the actual law

I missed all this, probably the threads I’m on

Chrisinthemorning · 28/04/2020 11:31

Yes

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2020 11:31

Oh pp has made stronger. Yep definitely avoiding some threads then. Tg for reasonable ones.

Jocasta2018 · 28/04/2020 11:32

Yes, I'll be following the government's rules. Lockdown hasn't affected my life that much as I'm a financially secure introvert with a large house and garden so didn't go out & about much to begin with.
However I can see how it's ruining lives. I have family who have had operations cancelled and cancer treatments halted with no date given as to when things will start up again.
I have friends hospitalised due to worsening existing mental health problems.
Friends have lost their jobs, are battling to keep their businesses afloat and could lose their homes if things don't change.
The government will need to come up with a bloody good plan to eventually raise lockdown for the sake of people's health & financial situations and we will all need to strictly follow this plan.
Sadly I don't expect much from the government.

CremeEggThief · 28/04/2020 11:32

Yes. It makes sense to only start easing restrictions after both Bank Holiday weekends.

Doingitaloneandproud · 28/04/2020 11:33

No I won't

Littlebelina · 28/04/2020 11:33

They have calmed down marsha but initially there was an air of "you've run out of bread, can't you eat dust rather than popping to the corner shop" from some folks

Mlou32 · 28/04/2020 11:33

Yes

BabyLlamaZen · 28/04/2020 11:34

Yes. Don't have much of a choice and it wouldnt be fair not to just because it's difficult.

Xenia · 28/04/2020 11:34

Yes although I didn't even support us moving to closing schools and lockdown in the first place. Should be voluntary.
We just cannot choose which laws to follow or not otherwise society breaks down. We are now in week 6.

regularbutpanickingabit · 28/04/2020 11:35

Yes and I hope it is extended for at least another 3 weeks.

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2020 11:35

I remember the thread about the 2 cucumbers.Grin
Also lots about whether or not to grass in your neighbours.

JemimaPuddleCat · 28/04/2020 11:35

Yes

thecatisginger · 28/04/2020 11:35

Would you stick to the rules if it meant forever?

Arnoldthecat · 28/04/2020 11:35

I already apply my own common sense. Im a key worker so have to go to work every day. Note that im not in contact with anyone in the NHS. As long as im on my own what does it matter if im sat at home or walking on the prom at Brighton? None whatsoever. Rules need to be followed with knowledge and logic not just slavishly observed .

DodgyTrousers · 28/04/2020 11:36

Of course

I don't proclaim to know more than the government/ medical and scientific advisers.

I also don't think my rights and well being is more important than other people's.

TreeTopTim · 28/04/2020 11:36

Of course I will follow the rules. I have a newborn and another child with an underlying health condition so for their sakes yes. Am I finding it easy? No of course not. My mental health is through the floor but my kids need me to keep them safe.

Astrabees · 28/04/2020 11:36

No.

Roselilly36 · 28/04/2020 11:37

Yes

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2020 11:37

I have a feeling the people saying no are already just doing their own thing anyway.

ClashCityRocker · 28/04/2020 11:37

Yes, although I don't like it I don't see any alternative.

Doggodogington · 28/04/2020 11:38

Yes

SeraphinaDombegh · 28/04/2020 11:38

Of course. I don't like it but if it's necessary, it's necessary.
