Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

OP posts:
missfliss · 28/04/2020 11:22

Yes I would comply.

Do I support? Not necessarily

DianaT1969 · 28/04/2020 11:22

Yes

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/04/2020 11:22

I’ll stick to the actual laws (not the Mumsnet rules), as I’m not a law breaker in general. Will I support it? No.

DontStandSoClose · 28/04/2020 11:22

Yes

Littlebelina · 28/04/2020 11:24

So yes I will follow the rules but want to point out this isn't necessarily the same as being supportive of furthering the lockdown. If it decided that further time is needed I'd want to see clear scientific justification (the actual justification not sound bites) and an idea of an exit plan. But if I don't get those things I'll still stick to the rules as there isn't much else I can do

Sparklingbrook · 28/04/2020 11:24

I have read a bajillion threads on here about CV but what are the ‘MN Lockdown Rules?’. Is it just bending the rules to suit?

Snowdown24 · 28/04/2020 11:25

I think us brits are moaners....but by past events we always accept and do what we’re told really, so yes...but begrudgingly.

EveryLifeHasASoundtrack · 28/04/2020 11:25

Yes.

PineappleDanish · 28/04/2020 11:25

Yes but I will grumble, moan and complain LOUDLY about it to whoever will listen.

Totally fed up of it. I also think there needs to be a bit or recognition that some areas of the UK have a much lower incidence of Covid than others, and could relax quicker.

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2020 11:25

I don’t get the mn rules thing either.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/04/2020 11:25

Yes.

I don’t want me or my family to get sick and I don’t want to be responsible for others getting sick if I was carrying it unknown.

Very alarming the number that won’t, maybe the next lockdown needs to be stricter like other countries given the amount that think it’s ok to go against it.

tappitytaptap · 28/04/2020 11:25

Yes the actual rules not the ones people make up themselves about who and who can’t go out.

minipie · 28/04/2020 11:25

Your OP doesn’t quite ask the right question.

Matt Hancock said there was support for an extension. You should be asking “Do you support an extension”. Asking if people will comply is a very different thing.

I do not support an extension but if there is one I will comply.

tappitytaptap · 28/04/2020 11:26

But as with others, I don’t support it.

Thefaceofboe · 28/04/2020 11:26

Yes

Cantata · 28/04/2020 11:26

Mumsnet, much like an individual’s social media impression is likely to be an echo chamber and not representative

^^ this.

@TimeWastingButFun

Bring on another 3 weeks - closer then to a vaccine

What if an effective vaccine is 12 months away? What difference will another three weeks of lockdown now make to that? There certainly won't be an effective vaccine by this summer.

EveryLifeHasASoundtrack · 28/04/2020 11:26

“Do you support an extension”.

Yes

slipperywhensparticus · 28/04/2020 11:27

Yes but dont expect me not to moan 🤣🤣

MorrisZapp · 28/04/2020 11:27

I'll stick to the spirit but not the letter, as will most people I know

Libertylee · 28/04/2020 11:27

Yes definitely for all the vulnerable people I know and love

Littlebelina · 28/04/2020 11:29

My interpretation of mumsnet rules is strict 1 hr exercise, only to going to the shops once a week to buy essentials ONLY (which doesn't cover tea, milk, bread, pasta or cucumbers to name a few) and only key workers going to work. So much stricter than the actual law

Freethefrogs · 28/04/2020 11:29

No, I will start seeing my immediate family.

MarshaBradyo · 28/04/2020 11:29

Mn has all kinds of posters who band together. Some who are louder than others about disliking what’s going on.

But usually people who are just going along with it don’t post about it as much. This is the first thread I’ve seen with so many yes posters. It’s a good question as it stands.

MindyStClaire · 28/04/2020 11:29

I have read a bajillion threads on here about CV but what are the ‘MN Lockdown Rules?’. Is it just bending the rules to suit?

Absolutely not. The MN rules include:

  • You must never leave your home, ever
  • How dare you have a BBQ
  • Only shop for essentials. No, bread and milk are not essentials (this is not an exaggeration, saw this one with my own eyes), and how dare you pick up alcohol/Easter eggs/toys with the rest of your shop.
  • You there. You're smiling. Be more miserable.
  • HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT, PEOPLE ARE DYING.

Etc etc etc.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 28/04/2020 11:29

Definitely yes
