Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes, reluctantly. My husband is his high risk due to previous health conditions, so I would have to for his sake.

To be honest, i'm not finding it too bad. I go out daily for a good walk with the dog, we are lucky to have a garden to get outside in nice weather and I shop once a week at a large supermarket. I do miss my friends and social contact, but that's a small price to pay for getting this thing under control.

Yes

Yes but I already know others who are not following the rules and I suspect that the longer it goes on the more people will start to bend the rules as far as possible. A social distanced chat in the street, becomes a social distanced chat in the garden, oh and then it's raining today, lets chat inside etc etc.

Yes, but as an agoraphobia sufferer I worry about how the hell I am going to get back out there when the time comes. I've not left the house AT ALL since 17th March (shielding youngest child).
I have always coped with my illness in the past, by "making myself" step beyond my comfort zone. My therapist always said the worst thing I could do would be to give in to my fears and stay at home.
It's not staying at home that is a problem for me, it's the getting back out there when the time comes. Already I'm scared.

Yes, but I would struggle with another 3 weeks since we've still got 10 days of this 3 weeks to go.

Firef1y72 · 28/04/2020 11:06

Yes - but grudgingly and because I find going against the "rules" very alien anyway. But I would want to know exactly why things aren't being relaxed and not this impossible dream of avoiding a second peak, the longer the restrictions go on for the higher the second peak will be. They were honest with us right at the beginning when they said the majority of us are going to get this and that while for the vast majority of us it will be a mild disease some will get ill and then a smaller number will get very ill. If I were in charge I would now be attempting to keep a steady stream of people catching it over the summer so that (hopefully) enough of us have had it that come flu season there have been enough to provide an amount of community immunity to keep numbers down.

I know I'm not an expert, but I would have thought that if even 20% of the population have had it and hopefully have some level of immunity then even such a small number will disrupt the transmission, while if only 5% have the effect would be miniscule.
