It’s good to see Boris is getting better. He said in his video message that he went through a critical 48 hours and it could have gone either way. Do you think the early intervention and oxygen helped save him? Would he likely have pulled through if he was treated like you or I and had to be turning blue or unable to finish his sentences before receiving hospital intervention?

Good to see him better but let's not let that cloud the truth.

He would have been very closely monitored and the decision to admit would have been planned at home with a bed allocated. Very different to your average covid patient scrambling to contact a GP, or turning up and waiting at A&E

I’m glad he survived and I hope the experience encourages him to get the NHS what it needs and respect this virus’ full, awful potential.

I am genuinely happy he is on the mend. However there is a disparity in care, and it's hard when you've been told to stay at home unless your 02 is stuck in the 80s to not feel frustrated. Not the fault of the nhs (I also work for them) but it's a very different experience of the illness to be tested and closely monitored/treated at home for days before being taken to hospital to the fear the rest of us will be feeling by trying to manage at home when feeling very unwell, knowing the nhs is under so much pressure that we cant even be physically seen by a medic unless we are becoming critically unwell.

I've wondered that too. If he was Joe Bloggs would he have been taken in so early "as a precaution" or would he have had to wait until he was a lot sicker before he was allowed in.

@CherieBabySpliffUp It was confirmed yesterday that the “precaution” line wasn’t true. He was really ill and on oxygen within an hour of arriving in hospital.

He is the PM, he is a politician speaking from No 10. It is all political. Glad he's better now let's get on with beating this virus and holding those in power accountable. Sorry though I can't join in some Boris Ressurection fawn-fest. And maybe he can ion his dotage consider how his policies for one have affected the Portuguese nurse he mentioned. And love, not a word we normally associate with him. If he changes his stripes I might even raise a small glass to him down the line. What's happened to Cumming's not heard a peep from him since he did a runner...

No bitterness at all @faithinallisee. I just wonder if we should be offering oxygen earlier to those suffering and whether doing so would mean fewer people requiring ventilation and fewer deaths.

He's been amazing from start to finish, and I find your insinuation that NHS workers don't treat "normal" people to the best of their ability quite insulting.

Shows all in all that Boris giving the NHS its biggest cash infusion in history as part of the manifesto was the right course of action, and validates his commitment strengthening health over over functions was the correct one.

We are projected to have the highest death rate in Europe and it looks v likely that is going to be true. That's hardly amazing.

If Boris had died, these same people would deride him as a big thicky for failing to access health services quickly enough.

Right, I’ve been trying to keep off threads like this, but you can fuck right off with saying that NHS workers don’t treat people till they are turning blue and can’t finish their sentences. They are working their arses off to save as many lives as they can and for you to suggest otherwise is utterly vile.

I think the insinuation is nothing to do with the health staff but actually that early access to none invasive oxygen is being limited because we don't have enough , unlike Germany which goes out of its way to get people onto oxygen quite early and that may be behind their better outcomes

Here people ring 111 and get told to wait until they are turning blue. In Germany vans were sent out to bring people in to hospital for oxygen

toryandproud recently Tory then are you? Because I haven't seen the NHS being a priority for the last ten years. All that braying and cheering when your party - including Johnson - voted against payrises for nurses really shows what they - YOU - think about the NHS.
