It is to be expected that the PM of the country will receive closer medical attention whilst his symptoms are "mild" and that worsening symptoms are more likely to be spotted at the right time.
I do not think this is wrong.
I am glad Johnson has pulled through and that he got the right medical attention at the right time.
It is a fact that this illness, when severe, can can get very bad very quickly.
There are stories in the press where, sadly, people with suspected Covid have gone from "not serious enough for an ambulance" to "too late for an ambulance".
Countries who are still able to provide medical care for ALL Corona patients have very low death rates (Eg Singapore, where everyone who tests positive is admitted as s patient, and Germany who also identify and monitor people when their symptoms are still mild).
If I am ill at home, I do not have anyone monitoring my blood oxygen levels. I do not have anyone medically qualified assessing me except by phone if I am lucky.
It is not possible for the UK to provide medical care and monitoring to all those with worsening Corona symptoms. There are too many of us. Waiting until the illness becomes life threatening will mean waiting too late for many (I am particularly worried for those who either live alone or who live with very young children and no other adult).
Allowing the virus to rampage through our country before putting any controls in place means that not only are we at higher risk of contracting Covid, but that we are at higher risk of dying when we do (and that other conditions will go untreated).
I do not begrudge Johnson the treatment he received, I am glad he got it. I wish it were possible for everyone to receive the same close medical care early on but it isn't. As leader of the country Johnson's decisions have directly lead to this.
These things are all true. It is not wrong to point that out in my opinion.
