Nothing like seeing an attention seeker looking for a rise not getting the satisfaction.

Alex Wickham @alexwickham
Health Service Journal: London’s Nightingale hospital has remained largely empty, with just 19 patients being treated at the facility over the Easter weekend

MurrayTheMonk · 14/04/2020 16:17

Beebity-you sound lovely x those residents were lucky to have you xx

IwantKoalas · 14/04/2020 16:18

I just wanted to say I don't understand why lower per million but higher overall is better

SistemaAddict · 14/04/2020 16:19

@Beebityboo Thanks

Beebityboo · 14/04/2020 16:28

I don't know if it's shock but it just feels like I'm in constant fight or flight like I should be doing something to fix it, but it's too late and I couldn't have done anything anyway. I feel like I've been having a panic attack since Sunday. I can't really talk to anyone about it because DH doesn't really know what to do with my and my mum is going through her own bereavement.
Just need to find a way of calming down and distracting myself before I go mad.
Thank you for the kindness everyone.

I suppose people who disagree with your conspiracy theory that the government are a bunch of far-right eugenicists are just expected to shut up and accept it, are they? Bad luck, I’m not in your fan club and I’ll keep questioning conspiracy theories wherever I see them, thank you very much.

TheCanterburyWhales · 14/04/2020 16:40

Could you provide us with some facts that show anything Red has said to be untrue?

Your misunderstanding/misinterpretation of basic numbers produced by highly reputable science based studies might have some of us thinking there was only one conspiracy theorist around at the moment.

@MurrayTheMonk its great that youve been on the radio raising more awareness of whats going on re. care homes.

CendrillonSings · 14/04/2020 16:46

Could you provide us with some facts that show anything Red has said to be untrue?

Absolutely. Red has said on this thread today that the government is run by hard right eugenicists who are putting their theories into practice with their response to the coronavirus.

Facts against this:
Instead of keeping the economy open and allowing the virus to wipe out the old and vulnerable, the government has locked down the country, shielding the old and vulnerable at incredible cost to the economy (hundreds of billions, most likely).

I’d say that’s a pretty hard fact, wouldn’t you?

IwantKoalas · 14/04/2020 16:54

But there is an attitude of allowing it to sweep through at a controlled pace. Even when there were no confirmed cases here

ToffeeYoghurt · 14/04/2020 16:56

This is awful. Why aren't people being treated at the nightingale hospital? All those reports of people being left to die at home or not being taken in soon enough, the care home residents being refused help. What's the hospital for?

I think you sound so lovely @Beebityboo I don't know if this is of any help but it comforts and reassures me to know people like you, who care about the residents, work in care homes. I was upset a while back reading of cases caught on camera (put up by concerned family members) where care workers were abusing or neglecting residents. People like you and @MurrayTheMonk remind me most of you are lovely people doing a very hard (and too often thankless and poorly paid) job. Thank you for caring. I'm sorry you're so upset.

Agree.

LilacTree1 · 14/04/2020 16:58

Toffee “ Why aren't people being treated at the nightingale hospital?”

Mum’s friend was refused treatment there because she was 85 and certainly couldn’t be intubated anyway. Why aren’t people being more realistic about this kind of scenario?

mrshoho · 14/04/2020 17:07

Is Jenny Harries still taking part in the daily updates?

ToffeeYoghurt · 14/04/2020 17:08

It's terrible if people are being denied help purely on age. Survival depends on more than that. The media have reported on recovered patients leaving hospital. Several elderly included. One was over 100 years old and was applauded by healthcare staff as he left. Younger people have also reported not being taken in. There's posts on Mumsnet about it. I thought hospital isn't just for ventilation. Boris wasn't intubated, not are all other Covid patients in hospital. There's palliative care as well. Worrying if Nightingale is already rationing places. Does that mean an increase in cases is expected? They're saving places for the very fittest younger patients?

ToffeeYoghurt · 14/04/2020 17:09

I'm sorry about your mum's friend Lilac

alloutoffucks · 14/04/2020 17:12

Except the government has not truly lock downed the country. There are still builders building luxury flats and warehouse staff sending out non essential purchases.
And the government was forced into a lock down.Vulnerable teachers self isolated at home, some parents kept kids off school, schools started closing because of a lack of staff, restaurants and pubs were getting few people going, and only after all that did the government announce a lock down. They had no choice. People were imposing it themselves.

LilacTree1 · 14/04/2020 17:12

That’s okay Toffee the lady herself was not bothered but her son insisted on trying to get her a place. I think he’s realised it was better in the end too that she died at home.

alloutoffucks · 14/04/2020 17:14

@LilacTree1 No they would not intubate an 85 year old, but they can give oxygen and support breathing in other ways.

LilacTree1 · 14/04/2020 17:17

Alloutoffucks “ They had no choice. People were imposing it themselves.”

They didn’t have to go so far as they did. Mum will be dead by the time I’m allowed to see her at this rate.
