Homo Sapiens have been subjected to plague and pestilence since the beginning just like other mammals. I don't know why,we in 2020 ,think we should be somehow exempt or above it. In the grand scale of things we've hardly inhabited the planet for very long.

I hope we do as little trade with china as possible after this. They have told so many lies that have cost so many lives and now see it as a "foriegn disease " totally dismissing their role in it all.
Where is their apology or their help for the countries that are going through it now.

I've travelled in Africa and China. Live meat is pretty awful to see. But there are plenty of countries that kill animals and hang the meat covered in flies, not refrigerated. Diarrhea is a leading cause of death in children. So live meat is a solution to a problem.

We are so used to reliable electricity, refrigeration, transportation we forget they don't exist in large parts of the world.

So also you buy fresh that you've seen slaughtered or fly encrusted and who knows how old?

China. This is China's chernobyl! They knew about it in November and silenced anyone who tried to bring attention to it. They didn't close the borders or tell any other country about it until it was too late. They have also lied about the numbers and how bad it was. Only 3000 deaths in China? - if you believe that then I have a bridge to sell you.
I also think it was accidentally released from the lab in wuhan.

I dont believe the virus started in wet markets or why would they open them up again? I truly believe this was made in a lab in China and let out by accident. And since then, China have been playing it down because we all know it originated there. They are not letting on how many people in China have died from this or how many are still effected. No new cases my arse.

Okay, you know the majority of Chinese do not eat wild animals, don’t you? Surveys have confirmed this—eating ‘exotic’ meat is actually quite a wealthy person habit there, especially in a city like Wuhan. (Also remote village thing, but they are not mobile so do not affect the rest of the world at any rate).

Cut the cultural relativism. Chinese people living in a city like Wuhan have access to refrigeration so the live meat market is a cultural preference and not dictated by their standard of living. In fact, the Chinese city I was living, the meat in wet markets was already butchered, think it was simply not allowed for hygiene reasons.

It’s not a case of ‘we eat cows and they eat bats’ as they also overwhelmingly eat livestock animals like most other places.

It’s not a natural disaster that strikes every hundred years. This pandemic was 100% manmade and preventable.

Pandemics happen look through history. We’ve been planning for a pandemic for 15 years as it’s been over due. No ones to blame except may Boris for ignoring all his experts till it was too late.

Chinese live animal wet markets, being unhygienic and inhumane, have been the source of two novel viruses in less than 20 years. They did nothing the first time around, so the Chinese government is most certainly to blame.

There were some early actions, the US for one closed its doors to Chinese nationals very early on (for the wrong reasons perhaps, but it was the right call in hindsight). This action was condemned by the WHO. We also relied on figures from China that are looking increasingly fake. You cannot base a suitable response on bad numbers.

We did not know the true power of COVID-19 until it hit Italy. I think Asian countries like Taiwan, South Korea and Japan knew not to trust figures coming out of China through experience with SARS ...

Victims are somewhat responsible for protecting themselves, but don’t kid yourself. China is actually to blame for this. I won’t repeat the litany of missteps, but there are plenty of articles outlining what went wrong.
