eg the Incas in South America and the disease brought from Spain etc

The Americas were physically separated from Europe but the same is not true of Africa or Asia. While it's true that many old world diseases destroyed new world cultures (small pox in particular but also measles and influenza) syphilis came to Europe with Columbus so the spread of disease was not just one way.

My brother is an actuary and a pandemic have been the No1 risk for years. He says nothing that has happened in the last 3 months has surprised him.

@boredbumhead yes and the fact that is seemed to completely predict everything that's actually happened with great accuracy. I read somewhere that they even called the simulated pandemic nCov-2019 though that could be bollocks

It’s a virus, no one is to blame for it.
The horrific loss of life in the UK is due to British exceptionalism, thinking it wouldn’t happen to us, not taking the necessary steps

Did Italy suffer from Italian exceptionalism? Did Iran suffer from Iranian exceptionalism? Did Spain suffer from Spanish exceptionalism?

Nope. China had SARS in 2003 and did nothing to stop it happening again via live wild animal markets. They are very much to blame.

If you know something like this is happening in advance, you can make so much money from shorting the stock market then making vaccines

It also freaks me out that bill gates Foundation had a massive simulation pandemic game conference, just a month before it all happened. It's too freaking.

Beijing Bikini love the name.

However, Well yes - look how many nefarious wars the US have started/been involved in over the past few decades. Does this really surprise anyone?

No proof that this funding is related. I don’t believe the bat samples from the lab match at all?

Bumbling I wonder if you have in mind 'guns germs and steel' by Jared diamond?
(Although there are probably other authors who have picked up on the same themes)

There is a theory that one of the treasons the developed western world has dominated militarily and economically over the last few hundred years is because they had more immunity from illnesses that they spread around the world ( eg the Incas in South America and the disease brought from Spain etc)
The immunity they built up was to diseases spread because of their close living with animals . Western rural populations historically often shared living space with animals.of.all types . They got.loads of diseases and many people died of them but the survivors were then immune to a lot.of.the diseases. They were then more successful when trying to colonize other areas where indigenous people didn't have the immunity to the diseases the westerners brought with them.

Human development through the ages has been shaped by diseases . Why would things be any different now?

So it turns out the lab in Wuhan - where it seems the virus originated - was funded by the US confused.

Lets shut down wet markets asap. But can we shut the shut slaughter houses here also? Not because they spread pandemics but because the are fucking cruel. Animals are in cages and barns on an eternal lockdown until they are forced on cattle trucks and driven to the gas chambers.

If we point the finger at other nations lets look at ourselves at the same time. The word Sanitary is not an excuse to fund animal abuse.

It also has factories that can produced ventilators and vital equipment.

Vital equipment like the 600,000 face masks that the Dutch had to send back to China because they were faulty?

Thank you for all of your replies and I am also pleased that my view is shared with the majority of posters. China is to blame.
