France has banned daytime outdoor exercise from tomorrow with fines equivalent to £120 for non-compliance. 6 months in prison if you continue to disobey the rule.

About time we follow suit

Thank goodness they can still exercise at the other times. It gives me hope they won’t ban exercise here.

They might just find everyone out at midnight though.

There would be an outcry if they banned it in London and nowhere else (which of course is the sensible thing to do as London is a hotspot and rural areas are not).

OP, why did you put "France" in your title? Did you not read the article? You should ask for it to be changed.

Not saying it's a bad thing but surely that would mean more people going out in the hours that are allowed ....eg instead of (using simple numbers as an example) 100 people per hour going out between 8am and 8pm, would you now get 400 people per hour using parks etc between 8 and 10am, and 7 and 8pm....?

How would that even work?

If its dark you wont see people as well to be able to distance?

So now they all just go at night instead?

That's going to be brilliant for single women.

People will just get up early and crowd the streets.

I don't give a shit how much outcry there is it needs doing. And most people won't 'just kill themselves or each other', they'll trudge on like the rest of us.

It's going to take us much longer than Italy to turn the corner, because our lockdown hasn't been as strict from the start. We have one of the worst predicted outcomes as a country. Our NHS is on it's knees begging people to stay in. Some people need to get it through their thick heads that it's for a greater good and stop only considering themselves. it's hard for everyone, deal with it.

Are they providing vit D to kids if this is prolonged?
I do hope so, and I hope the UK is looking to provide this too. This is a long haul and rickets is a nasty, horrible illness too, which will predominantly affect kids in flats and kids with darker skin tones.
These extreme measures are being done for the sake of public health, I do hope governments care about the health of all groups and try to put some mitigations in place to reduce the health impacts of the lockdown.

This is crazy. For those of you who say you want the same here, who is going to enforce it?! In France I've read that they have drafted loads of extra people into the police with minimal training to enforce the lockdown. And what sort of people do you think are going to apply for those roles? It's going to attract the worst sort of people, those who like to lord it over others. Exactly those people on mumsnet shaming people for not nhs clapping, or buying only two cucumbers at the supermarket!!! I feel we are going down a very dark road here and the cost isn't worth the benefit.

Maybe they have imposed it as Paris is a hotspot for deaths in France. If an error is made, I would rather err on the side of caution. Hancock has already said if the UK does not conform, he will impose a more stringent lockdown and not the lockdown light we currently have. I think maybe all parks should be closed, as we have all seen the sunbathers in parks and kids playing cricket, handling the same ball. Parks attract a lot of people.

Re single women, yes, that’s probably half their plan, scared women indoors.
