Public are being asked to not go there. Does anyone know what happened??

Momrose12 so instead of finding out what it is from a wealth of news sources you thought you'd ask here to create a bit of a stir..

LavenderQuartz · 04/04/2020 16:06

thanks @SockQueen

it doesn't sound an instant thing to replace then

rwalker · 04/04/2020 16:08

The sooner people like Shells get their head out of their own arse the better. WTF this holier than thou attitude is really starting to grate... Herd immunity is the only way out of this or we’ll be locking down for years.

YgritteSnow · 04/04/2020 16:10

But it's not helping most people, it's scaring them. It's very easy to help people and make them aware without scaring them. I'm ex army, I know quite a bit about being prepared thanks, and hyperbolic screeching at everyone is not often the way. But you just keep going if you must, your little band of followers certainly seem to appreciate it and I don't believe you aren't taking joy in it, you seem to be loving it actually.

JackJackIncredible · 04/04/2020 16:12

Watford is outside of London, so not a big central London location.

Yes, they declare critical incidents, as do other hospitals but they don’t routinely run out of oxygen. It’s not scaremongering, just fact.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/04/2020 16:12

So you are waiting for your friends and family to die then Hildegarde? You do realise that’s what herd immunity will take.

480Widdio · 04/04/2020 16:16

@YgritteSnow Ex-Army here as well QARANC Officer.

There are nasty little band on here, who think shouting and predicting how catastrophic this is going to be and yes they are loving it.

I doubt any of them have lived through anything very interesting at all.

They are doing more harm than good.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 16:17

Ygritte of course I am. Thank you for your astute observations. 🙄

AmelieTaylor · 04/04/2020 16:18

@Wehttam. Some people are just clearly not prepared to face up to it & want to silence all of us who speak out. It’s tiresome being accused of scaremongering. Weeks & weeks if it now. I swear half of them work for our dozy government.

Apparently ‘being prepared’ is scaremongering 🙄🙄🙄.

Hang in there.

FatAlbert · 04/04/2020 16:18

With a new virus scientists aren’t 100% sure yet that herd immunity is a viable goal. Herd immunity tends to involve vaccines, not sacrificing lives.

Slowing the spread and protecting the vulnerable whilst work continues on finding treatments and vaccines is our best bet.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 16:18

480 how nice to bump into you here also, following me around this, you’ll get people talking. 😘

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 16:20

Amelie don’t worry, I am! You too!

JackJackIncredible · 04/04/2020 16:20

@480Widdio

I’m certainly not hysterical over this but many people are terrified. Judging them isn’t helpful just because they’ve not seen a pandemic or a war before!

LavenderQuartz · 04/04/2020 16:21

oooh look the great British army are here!!!

ShootEmUpSarsaparilla · 04/04/2020 16:23

The dam is about to burst is what this means

FFS calm yourself. Most hospitals are in a critical incident most months and have been for years. During winter it can be most weeks.

ViciousJackdaw · 04/04/2020 16:23

oooh look the great British army are here!!!

No need for the sarcasm, I'm pretty sure those who have been in the forces have a better understanding of disasters and emergencies than you or me.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 16:23

😂

YgritteSnow · 04/04/2020 16:25

Couldn't agree more @480Widdio. I wish MNHQ would come down on it but it's everywhere so it's difficult I guess. I find it really odd tbh. I don't understand the breathless excitement and it does make me think the people can't have seen anything much to be feeling that way. It's the "WELL I WAS RIGHT!" that is the most unpleasant. Many of us saw it coming and prepared as best we could. As a previous poster said those who aren't doing what they're supposed to at this stage certainly aren't going to take any notice of a shouty MNetter. So what's the point? Unless just to scare and take pleasure in being right?

ShootEmUpSarsaparilla · 04/04/2020 16:25

And the people that know about this are the people working at those hospitals because it’s shared knowledge within the Trusts. We just don’t broadcast the news in the media or tell people about it unless the only way to manage the situation is by closing a department such as A&E. it happens all the time, you just don’t hear about it.

YgritteSnow · 04/04/2020 16:26

oooh look the great British army are here!!

Grin how old are you?

DarnedSocks · 04/04/2020 16:28

Watford's practically London. 20 minutes into central London on the train. Loads of commuters live there. It's still a big worry. We were told the NHS was "extremely well equipped" for a pandemic.

Why herd immunity, aka many many avoidable deaths, or years in lockdown? Why not campaign for extended use of the drugs that have so far shown great promise in treating patients? They're only being given to patients with no underlying conditions. A very large proportion of the population has an underlying condition particularly if you include obesity or smoking history. The excuse is it's still trial stage but when you're in a pandemic and the choice is death or a drug that could save you I know what I'd choose. There's limited stock worldwide so we really need to get on with ordering some more.

alloutoffucks · 04/04/2020 16:29

The number of critical incidents are recorded and published every year. No it is not some secret information that only those who work in a hospital know.
Yes they are not uncommon. No that does not mean it is no big deal They mean the system is not coping.

lilmishap · 04/04/2020 16:31

Thalidomide springs to mind. There hasn't been enough time for any drug to be proven fully yet
