Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

Lovelesslily let us know how you get on .

Gogoberry · 31/03/2020 21:55

Has anyone found quite bad left flank pain to be a symptom of this or do I have something else I need to worry about? It’s so bad I’m almost in tears and came on suddenly.

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 21:56

@OneDayAtATime123 that links back to the NY Post (bit like the Sun in U.K.) and basically says ONE doctor is giving high doses of vitamin c to his patients at one hospital. That’s hardly a peer-reviewed study and quite frankly sounds like media hyped up bullshit.

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:03

@Nekoness
There are lot of articles pointing to the same. Having said that as I said, I feel MUCH better after taking high doses of Vitamin C when I am fatigued. The merit to using it has been detailed medically, but I agree that we need to wait for more data.

Good luck Lily, hope doc. can treat or reassure you.

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:06

Following up, I’m trying to track down this as most news refuses to report it and are treating it as a hoax. Found this and posting it without reading it first

I feel a bit like a matron on this thread, bossing you around in a brisk but well meaning manner.

I wish you all a good night, or better night, at least.

Rest up, and then when you feel better, and you will, rest some more.

If I read any more nonsense about any of you feeling better so spending the next day cleaning the house, I shall give you 'the talk' that my year 9 class dread. You have been warned. It has lads a foot taller and twice as heavy as me quaking in their boots, and is met with a "Yeah, I get it miss, chill ya beans" look.

This too, shall pass (tonight's mantra)
Hugs to all.

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:07

@Nekoness
From the article you quoted:
"High-dose intravenous VC has also been successfully used in the treatment of 50 moderate to severe COVID-19 patients in China. The doses used varied between 2 g and 10 g per day, given over a period of 8–10 h. Additional VC bolus may be required among patients in critical conditions. The oxygenation index was improving in real time and all the patients eventually cured and were discharged [18]. In fact, high-dose VC has been clinically used for several decades and a recent NIH expert panel document states clearly that this regimen (1.5 g/kg body weight) is safe and without major adverse events [19].
"

Ipadipod · 31/03/2020 22:09

Gogoberry is the pain more round the back ? Could be kidney stones, especially if it has come on suddenly.

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:09

@OneDayAtATime123, no actually there aren’t any credible articles out there about it. The website you pointed to isn’t credible and they just regurgitated another “daily mail” type of news. I’m not discounting it, but it’s quite difficult to find any scientific proof of it. And - it’s intravenous Vitamin C that’s being debated.

Popping a few extra pills by us at home is more likely a placebo.

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:13

@Nekoness
As the article states : It is "Not sexy" :-) And readily available and cheap. Hence Pharmaceutical companies will not support it, but the hospitals in NY and China are using it big time to save lives. We cannot refute that. And I feel like it has helps me recover from fatigue. It is not harmful either since it is water soluble.

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 22:16

@Cary2012
I love your pep talks. I hope you keep posting Flowers

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:16

@OneDayAtATime123, like I said, I was trying to track something down and I linked to it without reading it first. Who is it written by? It’s some American guy. Not the Chinese doctors who apparently have written a study on this?

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 22:17

Have you got symptoms @Nekoness?

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:19

“Hence Pharmaceutical companies will not support ”

Yeah ok. Now that just sounds like American anti vax nutter speak about “big Pharma”. I’m out 🙄

Gogoberry · 31/03/2020 22:20

Lovelesslily good luck. Please let us know what the GP says. You are in the right place.

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:20

@ofwarren, why do you ask?

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:20

@Nekoness
I am only trying to state my experience with Vitamin C. People on this forum are intelligent to make their own decisions. The Chinese have started huge clinical trial to test this.
clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04264533

Gogoberry · 31/03/2020 22:23

ipad it’s very low abdomen and wraps around side. Feels the same kind of pain as period pain and I feel sick with it. Also having chest pains, high temp, sore throat, sinus pressure. So don’t know if it’s general illness or a kidney thing I need to get looked at. I’m sat in the bath now and it is more bearable.

Nekoness · 31/03/2020 22:24

@OneDayAtATime123, completely understand. And I get we are all scared. But what you originally linked to was a bit shite and hardly based on science. And yes they have started studying infusions. Which isn’t the same as taking a few extra vitamins when you’ve got this.

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 22:25

@Neckoness because that is what this post is for. It isn't for people who don't have Covid19 symptoms.
People on here are really suffering.
I'm not too keen on the tone of your posts to be honest. Lots of us are taking vitamin C and other vitamins to try and help our bodies to fight this god awful disease.
@OneDayAtATime123 is only trying to be helpful and we are intelligent enough to research ourselves.

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:27

@Nekoness
I am not sure of your motivation to shoot this down. Please !! we are all sick and can do with less bashing around here.
Q.) Why are doctor's using it in NY and China for Covid-19 patients ? Ever thought of that ?

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 22:28

I don't think this thread is the right place for treatment debates.

It's intended as a gentle supportive thread alone.

OneDayAtATime123 · 31/03/2020 22:29

@stayathomegardener
sorry ! No more from me.

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 22:30

My Tumeric and B12 are coming tomorrow. I'm going to end up rattling 😁
One good thing I've found is that my humidifier is making a difference. I was really struggling with dry nose and throat. It has definitely improved today.
The burn is still there between my shoulders and I'm hoping my gaviscon will help when it 'finally' gets here on Thursday.

My husband is ringing my son's liver consultant tomorrow to see if me and our youngest can FINALLY leave the bedroom. It's been a long 8 days.
