Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

@NowSissyThatWalk sorry I havent been on here much. I think we are all conditioned to push through and get into work in the UK. We all hate a shirker. But the tide has changed. If you are in a key role then you are worth more recovered and “immune” than if you’re trying to commit to the greater good and pitching in. Isolate.

@stayathomegardener I am in love with Muriel. No shit im ashamed of myself. I have been a broken whinging arsehole and genuinely felt I would die and look at that amazing woman. She makes me wanna climb on her bed like a cuddle from my Nan.

Day 9 here. And I have had no shakes/chills etc all day. Chest pain is exceptionally bad and I considered calling 111 at 5pm just to gear up to get checked out after about four hours because I was frightened.

I really felt like things were settling down for me and then suddenly I had bad diarrhoea. Each time ive had it its not been like norovirus or food poisoning. Its tiny episodes of quite extreme nature.

I stayed off my phone today. Focused on “yes your chest hurts” but can you manage in the moment etc. Even managed a nap 3-4 but woke up gasping and have extreme yawning after like I cant get air in.

The Kalms have definitely seemingly helped me sleep the last two days so im looking forward to taking those and hopefully getting more rest.

ShastaBeast · 31/03/2020 19:12

Is anyone getting indigestion or bloating after meals? My abdomen is huge and tight but only temporarily. Clearly this may be for another reason entirely but it started happening around the time I got the first symptoms. I know other have heartburn.

AnythingPecan · 31/03/2020 19:18

@ShastaBeast yes me! I have to eat very slowly and usually drink natural carbonated water after a meal to clear the indigestion.

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 19:21

We must have a reunion after we come through this guys. With Muriel of course x

@TheDrsWife46 I wondered how you were getting on. I spoke to my doc earlier on as have had a terrible relapse today after almost feeling normal yesterday. Doc thinks I am on day 7 as told me to count from my really bad symptoms. I feel worse today than I have at any point- really severe chills, shakes, legs aching etc. Broke down on phone to doc as so scared. Took co- codamol and that had taken edge off.
Blood pressure & pulse normal and my SATS app (which isn’t totally accurate) says 99% so trying to focus on that. Temp 36.7 so also normal. My chest also feels clearer than it did on days 4,5,6 and yet I feel so much worse.

I don’t think I can cope if it gets worse than this to be honest- praying to feel better tomorrow 🙏🏻

Zzzexhaustedzzz · 31/03/2020 19:27

Nowsissy - please isolate!!

I’m fed up but getting better.

Day 20. Felt great this morning then did too much. Felt nauseous this afternoon but wasn’t sick. Like a poster above I’ve had massive bloating which has been as uncomfortable as the back/ lungs at times.

SchrodingersKitty · 31/03/2020 19:28

@littleblackdress04: I'm sorry you are feeling so rotten. The chills and shakes are some of the most disturbing symptoms, but as people on here with medical experience have said, it is your body fighting back. On my worst day I had to bundle up with layers of clothes, bedding, scarves and two hot water bottles, plus constant large mugs of herb tea to bury my head in. It did finally get better.

It seems odd to count from the worst symptoms rather than the first ones, since the trajectory of the illness seems to be to get worse about 7 days in.

Lovelesslily · 31/03/2020 19:30

@Casino218 I found that article quite reassuring re:live virus and how long you are infectious, thank you for sharing...

Sorry I am not very good at checking in and posting, but I'm often reading and thinking of all the posters here ....always been a lurker I'm afraid!

Day 10/11 here ... and last couple of days I felt so much better I took myself for a short walk today (empty wooded area, and well clear of the 7 days...) and am now heavily regretting it. Breathless again, fever spike then chills, shaking and very bad kidney pain. Also started stinging when weeing so I'm now thinking most likely secondary kidney infection and will call GP first thing. Not looking forward to tonight if the horrible shaking returns :(

Wishing everyone a restful and better night.

ShastaBeast · 31/03/2020 19:31

My husband is convinced he’s also getting more burps. He gets the diarrhoea too while I only get cramps, although I take codeine which has the opposite effect.

One more day of antibiotics and I’m back trying my new prebiotics. My tummy is so bloated it is hurting my ribs, just like later pregnancy. We had a low calorie/low fat chicken with leek, lentils and carrots in creme fraiche. I don’t deserve punishment for such a healthy meal :(

alittleprivacy · 31/03/2020 19:32

Did Muriel get tested?

Standrewsschool · 31/03/2020 19:33

Has anyone got cold feet with it? I’m fine during the day, but at night my feet have been cold.

littleblackdress04 · 31/03/2020 19:36

@SchrodingersKitty I know- I thought it was weird to count from then too. I had maybe 3/4 days of tickly throat, lungs burning etc before I got sick last week? Never wanted to feel well so much in my life.

BUT I am trying to focus on things like feeling well yesterday & my SATS being well etc- that must be a good sign right???

SchrodingersKitty · 31/03/2020 19:38

@Standrewsschool: yes - freezing cold feet pretty much throughout (day 21).

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 31/03/2020 19:40

Today has been better, my o2 is up a bit (from a low of 89-92ish, to now around 95), but heart rate is all over the shop. I imagine that's what everyone is describing as palpitations?

Don't feel like an elephant sat on me today, but still feel like I'm winded or run a sprint.

Day 10, and ready to be better now.

Anyone know how long we are contagious for?

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 19:40

@littleblackdress04 yes oxygen sats are important. If you had infection these would reduce significantly. All the other things will just heal in time, aches, pains, lethargy, etc.

OP posts:
SchrodingersKitty · 31/03/2020 19:40

@littleblackdress04: yes - the up days and the good SATS etc are definitely things to hold on to. I haven't been able to measure my oxygen or temperature (crap thermometer), but I am very reliant on my peak flow meter showing that my rate of breathing is still ok, whatever it feels like.

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 19:40

@SchrodingersKitty look on YouTube at "Dr Myhill advises on treating viral infections."

@Casino218 we must of course have a thread party when we are all fully recovered.

I therefore cordially invite you all plus families to ours to celebrate!
We seen to no longer have jobs beyond farming so plenty of spare time, our friends wedding marquee company appears to be ruined so we can borrow a beautiful tent.

Muriel will be guest of honour.

ShastaBeast · 31/03/2020 19:43

@Standrewsschool I had cold feet, and hands sometimes, with a very hot face. It was always the evenings and cough also worse in the afternoon and evening. I’m not getting it now as I’m edging towards the end of week three.

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 19:43

@stayathomegardener sounds like a great plan will look forward to it.

OP posts:
SchrodingersKitty · 31/03/2020 19:45

@stayathomegardener: love it! Count me in.

The idea of meeting anyone at all in real life seems increasingly like a distant dream! I wonder if there'll be a huge reaction against virtual communication when this is over, or whether half of our jobs will end up permanently online. I'm so sick of living in interesting times.

TheDrsWife46 · 31/03/2020 19:46

@littleblackdress day 6/7 for me was when I was literally howling and begging to be sedated from my Dr. Today I am comfortable. Today it is tolerable. Im not well and ive cried all morning. And now im panicking that im going to actively infect everyone through diarrhoea spores or something. But im not at the convulsive petrified stage that day6 had me. Xxxxxx

Sending everyone such huge love. I wouldnt have coped without this thread. This has been the lowest, loneliest time.

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 19:47

@TheDrsWife46 you misunderstand! If Muriel was on morphine patches for the pain that's BAD. She was telling me it was so acute she was crying out.

I found her in her garden in February two years ago with a broken hip, been there hours. So cold the paramedics took her in without pain relief.

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 19:52

@Lovelesslily I would get that checked out tonight if it's affecting your kidneys.

alittleprivacy · 31/03/2020 19:53

I imagine that's what everyone is describing as palpitations?
Have other people been having these too? I've been having them like crazy over the weekend. They were actually the scariest part of this illness for me. I checked my heart tracker and while my resting BPM averages around 66 but all weekend I was having spikes between 160-180 for no reason at the times of the palpitations.
