Is anyone having sharp pains in the calf? I keep feeling like I'm going to take a cramp but it eases off. Just a couple of seconds on pain.

TheDrsWife46 · 31/03/2020 06:40

@NerosFiddle I have had constant cramps and chills but all of mine originate in my legs. Relief has been if DH rubbed them very deeply (but was desperate and not ideal for distancing). The other thing is that I have a body length hot water bottle. Ive clamped this between my calves/knees as the heat seems to distract from the tremors and cramps that deffo build in my legs

NerosFiddle · 31/03/2020 06:47

@TheDrsWife46 mine are not cramps. Might try a hot water bottle even though I have a temp. Anything for a bit of relief.

UncomfortableBadger · 31/03/2020 07:28

Eventually managed to drop off for a few hours at a time last night but woken up this morning feeling very nauseous - have been vomiting since waking, even though there’s nothing left in my system Sad

Ipadipod · 31/03/2020 07:42

This is all so hard to read and my heart goes out to all of you, who could possibly have imaged this happening a few short weeks ago ?

I’m still hovering on just feeling a bit off kilter , throat is no better but no worse, chest is not so tight and breathing is ok , although I haven’t got out of bed yet , still have a slight headache. I feel like I’m teetering on the brink but keep telling myself that not everyone gets it really badly.

I truly hope that those of you suffering, turn a corner very soon xxx

TheWooisStrong · 31/03/2020 07:46

Everyone, you will get through this.

I’m day 20, and other than a lingering cough have woken up feeling normal. I’m sure I’ll be fatigued and on the sofa again later, but I’m definitely on the mend.

If you are in the thick of it, make yourself eat. Healthy stuff, sweet potatoes, avocado, oranges, bananas, chicken soup. Anything high calorie and high nutrition.
I loved turmeric tea to sip. A daily zinc/vitamin c supplement. If you are anaemic or have been in the past take Spatone too.
Other than that, constantly sipping warm water and resting helps with the chills. I avoided paracetamol except on one occasion.

Good luck.

longshot · 31/03/2020 07:51

Morning all

@Spacecadetagain I’m glad you’ve been seen and all is ok (in a sense) it is good to know and for you to know roughly what day you are on.

I can’t keep up with all the messages now, there are so many of us!

It’s day 21 I think for me. I have been feeling much better but last night I woke in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and with a bad burning feeling around my bra line again. I felt quite awful, it passed after a few minutes and I went back to sleep but really scared me as I realised it is still in there!

This morning I have really bad sharp pains in my left side ribs, I stretched in bed and seem to have aggravated something, anyone know if this is possible? I can’t shift it it’s a sort of constant sharp pain, I’ll take some paracetamol and rest AGAIN!

longshot · 31/03/2020 07:53

I can’t even stand up straight it’s that bad Shock

tangledyarn · 31/03/2020 07:57

@keysdontbelonginthefridge Sorry for late reply. I think its day 26 ish but am losing track now! Am a lot better than I was a week or so ago, but yeah still have a lot of symptoms (breathless, tight heavy left lung and chest pain) intermittently dizzy and just v v tired. Having to still spend most of the day in bed but can potter around as well, if I try to push myself my throat gets really sore again, my temp rises and Ill have a bad episode of breathless and just feel really shaky and weak ..but I do feel like I am continuing to get better, I just think it's going to take me a long time (like other people i have other chronic conditions already asthma, cfs amongst others so am not surprised I've been hit really hard by it) I hope you are starting to feel better too, it sounds like we are at a similar stage xx.

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 08:00

@Knowhowufeel2 order yourself an oximeter from eBay going forward.

Porcupineinwaiting · 31/03/2020 08:02

Day 13. Huge weight on my chest. Nausea. Burning skin. Back to feeling poisoned again. Sad

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 08:11

Day 22. It's taking me so long to wake up. The dreams I'm having are vivid too. I've woken up without a temperature today but it's given me a headache instead. Still getting the odd twinges of chest pain but it's faded. I'm going to call this monkey on my back Fred.

Day 20 and 7 hours sleep Smilereserving judgement on everything else till later but plan on doing very little today.

If I remember correctly from the link casino218 posted the virus would have left our bodies quite quickly and what we are now experiencing is our bodies reaction to it.

LittleMissA · 31/03/2020 08:16

Hi everyone! I've been coughing for almost 3 weeks now, it started really wheezy and dry now it's more chesty. I've had a few occasions including last night where I woke up and couldn't catch my breath, it was really quite scary. Apart from that I've not felt too bad, odd headache but I'm prone to them and achy back/shoulder/neck but have had that a few mths. DH have had a milder cough since mine and theirs have virtually gone away. I don't know if it's Coronavirus or could it be something else like asthma??

Casino218 · 31/03/2020 08:24

I think part of the reason this virus took hold and continued in me was that I had flu in January. I had only just started to recover from that when this came along. A few weeks ago I was running 5k!

mymoonmyman2020 · 31/03/2020 08:29

@TheWooisStrong

Thanks for those tips - really useful. Can I ask why you avoided parcetemol out of interest?

stayathomegardener · 31/03/2020 08:34

I've not taken any pain killers yet mainly because having cfs for years I know if I mask anything I might do too much.
Although in general I've not had much pain with this after day 10.

tanyauk · 31/03/2020 08:39

Day 6 - had a long good night sleep. I found an interesting article about doctors in Israel treating patients with soda bicarbonate (food version used for baking) + lemon juice. Half a teaspoon soda mixed with the same amount of lemon juice in a cup of warm water. Take it before going to bed. It definitely settled my stomach, no cramps no diarrhoea, no anxiety. Perhaps too early to tell but it seemed to help by burning chest too. Slept like a baby!
Will try again every day now.
I think all these symptoms we are having (burning, upset stomach , anxiety) they are all related to raised acidity which virus seems to prefer. Another alternative to try would be cystitis relief powder (available over the counter), it does the same thing.

CherryValanc · 31/03/2020 08:41

I've been sporadically reading and not posting (sorry - just haven't had any advice I can offer). But glad someone has mentioned pain in calf. I get the exact same as you mentioned @NerosFiddle.

In my moments where I let anxiety bubble up I think it might be an embolism, but most of the time I squash these panics down. (Hard to do when feeling exhausted!)

I find similar to a cramp if I stretch my calf it eases off.

longshot · 31/03/2020 08:42

@Casino218 I think I must have missed the link that mentioned about the virus having left us now, do you have that?

I know we are around the same stage and @tangledyarn and @stayathomegardener. I do feel much better in myself but chest pains are lingering on here. Finding it annoying today as felt better yesterday and purposely didn’t do much for fear of messing things up. I do have PMS though and get that badly (cramps, temp etc) so wondering if those aches and pains are somehow exacerbated by the virus. Think this may be happening. Going to try to have another easy day. My DD is also unwell again, it’s been exactly the same amount of time for her and she’s only 8. She’s nowhere near as poorly but achey, sore chest etc so I know this thing takes time.

@casino218 two days before I got Ill I ran 12k! It’s so annoying isn’t it! I did have 3 months of running two years ago as sprained my ankle badly and i got back to fitness quite quickly so I’m not overly worried but this does feel different somehow. Can’t help wondering if there’s a bit of lasting damage been done.

longshot · 31/03/2020 08:45

@tanyauk that’s interesting. I will seek out the cystitis sachets now!

cornishdreams1 · 31/03/2020 08:48

I am wishing you all well - this thread is full of suffering, and I wish you all well Flowers

I need some advice please, from those of you that have CV, I am due to be going to work tomorrow, key worker non NHS but I am not sure what to do. I don't think I have CV, but my friend tells me I am showing symptoms and should isolate, her friends have tested positive with the following:

Weird taste in my mouth that tastes foul
sore throat
Glands up
D&V for 2 days
nausea that now comes and goes
very upset tummy is continuing and bouts of feeling sick
headache
Exhaustion
Stomach cramps
weirdly back ache (not sure why)
sore eyes

It is important I do not infect anyone in my line of work, however I do not have a fever, or a cough or shortness of breath - basically I do not fit the criteria at all for CV!!
I am conflicted. Your advice would be great.

Bornlazy · 31/03/2020 08:50

@Spacecadetagain I’m so glad you got checked out and that they are happy with your chest. That will put your mind at rest a bit and although it won’t make any difference to your physical symptoms it will certainly help with the psychological ones. Hope you managed to get some quality sleep after being seen.

I had a better night last night and only woke a couple of times but went back to sleep quickly (I have a poor sleep pattern at the best of times) This morning I feel hungover with a sore head and terrible thirst so I’m going to take some paracetamol and lots of fluids.

I noticed that someone recommended Tumeric and wondered if that would be contraindicated as it acts as an anti-inflammatory for the same reasons as ibuprofen is. I’m not sure if it would be. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

If ibuprofen had never been mentioned and I had taken it during this I would have thought that it was responsible for my increased heartburn and stopped taking it anyway. @ofwarren have you tried mint chewing gum or even mint toothpaste to help with your reflux? That’s helped me in the past.

@TheDrsWife46 you must be exhausted. I hope you get some rest soon.

I hope everyone has a better day today than they did yesterday x

cornishdreams1 · 31/03/2020 08:50

PS the worst of the symptoms are over, I am now left with sore throat, glands up, stomach cramps. I can work through this, and usually would.

AnythingPecan · 31/03/2020 08:54

Just ordered an oximeter. No idea why....Hope this isn't going to add to the anxiety!
