Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

@ofwarren I know..I have no idea what lockdown world looks like. What a strange time to be alive!

MrsLeclerc · 30/03/2020 22:38

Has anyone been using cocodamol? I’m running out of paracetamol but have plenty of cocodamol. Is it ok to take do we know?

everythingisginandroses · 30/03/2020 22:41

@MrsLeclerc, yes cocodamol is ok for adults (we asked our friend who is a hospital pharmacist).

Spacecadetagain · 30/03/2020 22:42

@TheDrsWife46 remember you aren’t alone and you were so reassuring to me earlier.. I really appreciated that Flowers

I’ve been waiting two hours for a call back from 111 .. nothing as yet and they quoted two hours as the call back time.. sigh

MrsLeclerc · 30/03/2020 22:47

@everythingisginandroses thank you!

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 30/03/2020 23:02

@tangledyarn I just read the first post on part 4 and haven’t been able to read all the others. I posted regularly on part 2, but drifted off as mine has gone on for ages. BUT I’m week 3 too - still feeling exhausted, chest pains and pain under my right rib. Feel okish one day and then horrid the next. It reminds me of when I had glandular fever. How are you doing?

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 30/03/2020 23:03

I’m starting to worry I’ve got post viral fatigue it’s been going on that long. Oh, and still have a foggy head

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 23:07

Just been reading about post viral fatigue.... Well that's a bit depressing isn't it.
Can last week's, months, years or be permanent...
This virus is absolutely vile.

toomuchlikemyusername · 30/03/2020 23:16

Hello all
I'm joining this thread having spent a few hours pondering if I've got/had CV.
I thought I had a big standard cold which started about 3 weeks ago. Sore throat, headache, generally a bit off. At the time the news was all full of 'high temp and dry cough' and I had neither so considered myself lucky that it was 'just' a cold. I also get very early hay fever so also thought that might be part of the problem.

Didn't manage to really shake it off, but put it down to increasing age combined with existing work stress which was being compounded by added pressures of imminent school closures and the like. Carried on, drinking gallons of water every day as throat was always dry and voice was tired (put down to lots of phone conversations due to contingency planning etc).
Said 'cold' has re-surfaced over past few days. Headaches, tired eyes, achey limbs, skin sensitive to the touch, nose pain. All the things I get with a 'normal' cold or virus. It suddenly dawned on me that my sense of smell has gone and my sense of taste has diminished.

Still no temp and no persistent dry cough so according to 111 online checker it's unlikely to be CV...but with the list of possible symptoms growing everyday, I can't help but wonder if I've got it/had it and if so, if I'm still contagious and when the heck did I first start with it.

I know no one can answer that for me but I feel a bit better for writing it all down here!

Thank you for those who are sharing stories and being so supportive. I hope that those of you who are going through the mill are soon on the mend.

MrsLeclerc · 30/03/2020 23:17

As someone who already had a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome before this, I’m terrified.
I know my limitations now, if it knocks me back even more I’m going to loose the small freedoms I had.

Spacecadetagain · 30/03/2020 23:20

Post viral fatigue is probably going to be likely with this thing Sad I remember having glandular fever when I was 17 and Seven Seas tonic helped afterwards . Metatone is quite good too . I’ve a horrible feeling I won’t be getting a call back

stayathomegardener · 30/03/2020 23:26

Yep I already have CFS so that's been in the back of my mind constantly.

Spacecadetagain · 30/03/2020 23:27

@toomuchlikemyusername the reality is ..with no testing available you just don’t know but possibly treat as though you do have it .. Hopefully if it is.. it’s a mild case for you Smile

jakesmommy · 30/03/2020 23:32

My symptoms seemed to clear up this morning, I felt much better, no sore throat etc, this evening i had a coughing fit so bad I could taste blood (sorry tmi), up now with tightness in chest alrhough coughing is intermittent, this is horrible, was going to phone 111 but didnt want to in case it wasn't urgent.

TheDrsWife46 · 30/03/2020 23:32

Im still here @spacecadetagain
I am praying to get drowsy from the Sleeping tablets I have taken in desperation but instead my tummy/squits is going absolutely crazy.

Finding it very difficult to focus on my phone now. Yesterday i dropped the phone on my face twice so hoping im dropping off now for some respite. Please dont give up holding on for the callback and please let me know what they say.

My tummy is going beserk at this rate I may actually poo myself in my sleep. Deffo getting drowsier!!!!!

Spacecadetagain · 30/03/2020 23:36

@thedrswife46 I’m sure you won’t poo yourself ! You’ll probably find once you are asleep and relaxed your tummy will calm down .. if you feel yourself going just roll with it and get some sleep.. I’m going to try and get comfy in bed and wait for that phone all but Im so shattered I think I might fall asleep before they call and I can’t sit up all night waiting for the call as going to sleep in the day isn’t an option

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 30/03/2020 23:37

This was an interesting read: www.thecanary.co/global/world-analysis/2020/03/15/the-other-potential-coronavirus-catastrophe-no-one-is-talking-about/ (it’s based on supposition of what could happen, not medical facts)

@stayathomegardener I had post viral fatigue, and am definitely worried it’s come back again. Will keep fingers crossed for you that it doesn’t set you back too much. It’s such a horrid thing to have.

@Spacecadetagain forgot about the seven seas tonic. Will try and source some from somewhere. Hope you get a call back soon, I know with some it’s taken about 4 or 5 hours :( fingers crossed you’ll hear back soon

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 23:38

I knew nothing of post viral fatigue before this. I'm dreading it as I have hashimotos disease and already massively struggle with brain fog, aching muscles, tiredness etc.
What a kick in the teeth 😭

toomuchlikemyusername · 30/03/2020 23:39

Spacecadet yes, you're right. Best to err on the side of caution and assume it is.
I do wish the testing situation could be upscaled to a level that even started to scratch the surface. The antibody test would be such a massive game changer. I was shaking my head in disbelief at today's conference when they said 900 people front line staff had been tested.

Anyway, I've taken a couple of paracetamol for the headache and will see what tomorrow brings. Will check back in in the morning. Wishing everyone a restful night.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 30/03/2020 23:42

Oh goodness, sorry @ofwarren I didn’t want to worry anyone. I think just take each day as it comes and see what happens. It could just be a virus that knocks you for 6. Like space cadet said they used to recommend drinking a tonic to build yourself back up again after having a glandular fever, might be worth having? I’ve started taking my vitamins again and hoping they’ll help.

ofwarren · 30/03/2020 23:48

@keysdontbelonginthefridge
Don't be sorry, I would much prefer to know what I'm dealing with. It's just all so depressing isn't it though. We see the likes of Nadine Dorries saying she was well again after a week yet that won't be the case for so many of us.
As the link above shows, we don't even know what effects people will have.
I suppose all we can do is hope for the best and try and keep healthy.
I'm also on the vitamins. I've got C, D and zinc.

UncomfortableBadger · 30/03/2020 23:51

@tanyauk I think I’m at the same stage as you - day 5ish. Similar symptoms like the sweaty feet and fast heartbeat; like you, no cough.

Now struggling to sleep as I can’t get comfortable with the chest pain/burning sensations. I’m absolutely exhausted.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 30/03/2020 23:59

@ofwarren have you thought about taking turmeric (reduces inflammation) and b12 tablets? Just read up on your condition and sounds like they might be good ones to look in to? I now take those and various other ones on a daily basis. (Just need to say I’m not a nutritionist, just read a lot about nutrition when my sister had cancer) Thought I’d mention them incase they’re of any use to you!

ofwarren · 31/03/2020 00:01

Ive not Keys
I will order both tomorrow. Thank you for the advice

Spacecadetagain · 31/03/2020 00:01

God the thought of getting CFS terrifies me.. One if my closest friends has it and I’ve seen how it debilitated her . I already suffer as it is with brain fog etc caused by an illness 15 years ago . But we have to stay positive.. we might just feel knocked out for a while but we will recover !
It’s now five hours since I phoned 111
