Stricter lockdown coming?

What might a stricter lockdown look like? Will we get to a point where we can't go out to exercise at all? Or is it more likely we'll only be able to go shopping once a week?

I would expect nobody on the streets at all might be the next stage with one trip a week for groceries.
(with no exceptions for animal owners)

I think they are better off having a serious clampdown on those that are ignoring social distancing. Most people are sticking to the rules ( and yes some are walking their dogs twice a day but it is not causing a problem). I'm talking about the gatherings outside, going to the shops for no good reason, going round each others houses etc.

I would expect no one going to work apart from key workers and no one exercising. At the moment people are still going to work if they can’t do it from home and unless their work has closed so a lot of people are still at work who could be off work for a couple of weeks without the country falling apart

People only allowed out alone (1 adult) for 30 mins exercise?
Food shopping rationed to once a week - 1 adult to do it?
All takeaway food outlets and off licenses closed?
Borders closed?
No countrywide travel services, local only?
No car usage except for food shopping or medical reasons?
Further shopping restrictions - DIY shops, no counter service in banks - just cash machines, all construction sites closed, all indoor shopping centres, dry cleaners?
Car parks?

I've already told my son's social worker that if he cannot be taken out to exercise then his anxiety will go through the roof and our home will become unsafe. I think a no exercise rule would cause an enormous amount of problems.

I'm trying really hard to only share verified information and not enhance panic. But I can't see how this will end. I'm so upset for the stuff that's being lost and it just feels like losing days of living. I just wonder if it would have been better to isolate those at risk rather than trash the economy.

Food shopping down to once a week would be impossible for people who do not have cars. One person cannot carry enough for even a family of four. We already don’t have enough to eat, and none of us need to lose weight. I think exercise outside will be reduced to a certain distance or timespan, if not stopped altogether.

I think possibly only being allowed a certain distance from your house, say 200m as in some parts of Italy I believe. Once a week shop. Only essential workers allowed to travel, all other work to stop, so amazon/other warehouses/factories shut.

Reports from Italy yesterday were heartbreaking on the impacts of the lockdown; people starving and planning riots.

They could do with enforcing the current measures before going even stricter. I haven’t seen anyone enforcing anything round here. I could go out as many times as I want and to the shops as many times as I want, the bank over the road has a constant queue to get in, I don’t know why so many people need to physically visit the bank. (I do stick to the rules btw just stating that if you didn’t want to you don’t have to.

They can’t do a lockdown with no access to animals. Horses, cows, sheep - it’s lambing etc would starve.

I can see not being allowed out for a walk with your dog though.

There was also an announcement yesterday that people should exercise and look after their mental health and keeping people indoors all the time doesn't go with that. Fining the pisstakers would be more effective.

Once a week for food shopping is a bit shit. Off the top of my head I could see how this would not work for

• those with no car and can only buy what they can carry
• large families, especially with the limits on products
• people with allergies, or food restrictions, if they can’t get a hold of certain things
• anyone with a baby struggling to find nappies and formula
• anyone shopping for another family, the elderly or vulnerable
• low income or lost income families

etc.

Honestly I could see more people getting sick with a stricter lockdown than with CV.

Food shopping once a week wouldn't work because the past two weeks I've never been able to do a full shop - there are always items missing. Also I don't think they have the resource to enforce this.

Totally agree with PP that once a week shopping is not going work. @WtfIsThisEven sets out the reasons very well.

There will be thousands more suicides if this keeps up.

Yes unfortunately a heavier lockdown due - was always on the cards.

Probably curfew and heat detector zones... Lots of small clusters of people still gathering (spreaders/super spreaders).

If there is a stricter lockdown coming, do you think it will happen at the end of this current one or will they implement it before the 3 weeks are up for review? I appreciate no one can actually know, just interested in people's thoughts.

I live very rurally.
One small shop which has very little in
I cant drive atm
I am disabled and have two disabled kids
It's scary to think that the lockdown might tighten.
But I think it will in 3 weeks if not sooner.

That Sky article is very misleading.
There have been two instances on Italian news of twatty behaviour. In Sicily some yobs ramming a supermarket and in Bari, the bloke in the news story mouthing off at the police because the cashpoint he was trying to get money out of hadn't been filled up. He's a self employed businessman.

I imagine there will be further restrictions in the UK to bring it in line with other countries further down the lockdown road. Only one person per household to do the food shopping, nobody allowed out to exercise, police stop and checks, non essential production and shops closed.

@Sockwomble I’ve got a disabled son with autism adhd and learning difficulties , i will get attacked not being able to take him out for exercise . I just cannot live like that at all .
I wonder if we were to provide enough documentation to appropriate services they maybe able to make individual decisions . I’ve got heap loads of risk assessments, behavioural plans etc I’m sure my social worker would help also .
Surely they need to make reasonable adjustments for people who are literally in danger without this help.
I don’t think I’m better than anyone else , I just feel circumstances are very different for some than others.

I think it will get stricter in the coming week. Curfew plus only one adult from each household shopping.
