@longshot started a new thread as the other filled up and I thought you were poorly and people would be wanting to find out how you were doing.

KayakingOnDown · 27/03/2020 19:05

@longshot glad you feel a bit more reassured even if you feel rubbish.

@babdoc, yes I know, my dear aunt, a very wise and godly woman, sent me Psalm 91 when she heard I was ill. I find it hugely comforting.

stayathomegardener · 27/03/2020 19:30

So glad you are feeling better @longshot!
It's such an emotional time isn't, I'm not religious or particularly superstitious but I tried a childhood trick of asking a question and opening the book I was reading on a random page.

So I asked am I and my little family going to survive this? And first line to pop up was "There was that sound like wind once more in my ears, a propeller turning slow, patient, waiting for me to climb back aboard and finish out my life" 🤷‍♀️
Any entertainment to stop stressing about this.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 27/03/2020 19:39

@longshot good to see you on the thread. It does seem to me that anyone getting any 'proper' symptoms is looking at three weeks minimum and a lot of false dawns along the way.

This seems to be the experience of those I have heard of.

absolutelyknackeredcow · 27/03/2020 19:45

@ScrimpshawTheSecond @Babdoc Me and DH have
Sore throat, chills. Elephant on chest, banging headache the mildest of temps (me my DH not). No cough. We are convinced we have it .. I do a lot of work in Westminster so ..

Casino218 · 27/03/2020 19:47

Glad your back @longshot was worried there.

Today I have been an absolute zombie and tonight my chest is burning again. No breathlessness or cough but I am getting quite down I think after 18 days.

OP posts:
mymoonmyman2020 · 27/03/2020 19:52

Ah glad I have found this again...

On day 5/6 and after thinking I felt better I had an afternoon of chills/burning up and sleeping for hours...

Keep having to take deep breaths but often feel I can’t get a full lungful of air which isn’t nice at all :(

mymoonmyman2020 · 27/03/2020 19:52

@longshot very glad to hear things have stabilised again 💐

Bagelsandbrie · 27/03/2020 19:54

Checking in.

I’m on day 9 of it. Not officially tested but have all the symptoms and flagged by NHS 111 as having it - I have chronic autoimmune conditions and was struggling so ended up calling them. I have Addison’s disease, asthma, a pituitary tumour, kidney issues etc. I have no idea how I didn’t end up in hospital but with a lot of steroids, blue inhaler use and doxycycline for a week now (another weeks dose to come) I am still here.

Initially I just had a very high temperature- 39, didn’t come down much with paracetamol. Then next day came down to normal and then spiked up again. Several times. Felt dreadful. Then chest became super tight and uncomfortable. Had upset stomach initially as well. Haven’t developed any real continuous cough but chest just feels like I can’t take a proper breath, it’s better with extra steroids - which I take for my Addisons and asthma anyway so I have updosed these.

My 16 year old and dh are now starting to have the high temperature thing Sad We’ve all been isolating. I feel awful I’ve potentially given it to them and am so worried- my 7 year old seems absolutely fine so far.

user34254356 · 27/03/2020 20:05

@longshot glad all is well! The GP Covid centre sounds great.

Reassuring that a lot of people are having the burning chest. Is it the entire chest or just the middle? I find the middle of my chest painful / burning and more so after physical activity or speaking. Anyone else have that?

Restful night to everyone.

Joeaj23 · 27/03/2020 20:16

@longshot glad to hear you are okay

Day 17 for me and while i didn't sleep last night i managed to get about 4 hours from 10am - 2pm earlier today.

I have stayed in bed all day today but i actually haven't had too bad a day, no breathing issues or nausea, just general tiredness and fatigue

having said that we all know this thing can change at the drop of a hat so who knows what i have in store

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 27/03/2020 20:26

Thanks, all, for responding. I'll be able to rest up a bit now, as it's the weekend. Homeschooling kids while feeling like this is no fun.

If it is covid I have absolutely no idea how I would have picked it up. I've been self isolating for over 2 weeks!

What worries me more is that my mum is now reporting diarrhoea - she's over 70. Fuck.

hoovermyrug · 27/03/2020 20:33

would say my DH is the worst. Bad headaches for over a week and cough as of today. I've got a very tickly cough as has my son. Crapping myself. So do I enforce distance between us all or accept we are all likely to get it? I have one non symptomatic child. Scared. What happens if we are both v ill? No family to take kids. I really am worried and panicking.

Casino218 · 27/03/2020 20:43

@hoovermyrug try to get perspective on this. We are all reading headlines and worrying. It doesn't help.how old are you? Do you have an underlying medical condition?

OP posts:
Porcupineinwaiting · 27/03/2020 20:49

Evening all.

Day 7 (or poss 9) here. Not a good day, breathing got so laboured that I ended up with paramedics coming out to assess me. Decided to leave me at home for now but I have to call them straight away if it happens again .

Feeling a bit better tonight but throat getting sore again. Was told I could easily have another week of this. Sad

EMichel102 · 27/03/2020 20:49

Hi all - any tips for sleeping? I’m exhausted but can’t seem to sleep well between the chest burning sensation, anxiety etc. I’m never able to get a full nights sleep...today was Day 11 and hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Moonbaby321 · 27/03/2020 20:50

@ScrimpshawTheSecond That's a real worry about your mum. I am the same at the moment constantly worrying about my mum catching this. She's 74 and is staying in our house, I am staying well out of her way but who knows how long I've had this. Hope your mum is ok

starrynight19 · 27/03/2020 20:52

Yes covid gp centres are a thing now. My dsis was advised to go to hospital by them yesterday after a call with her gp.

Casino218 · 27/03/2020 20:52

Can you prop yourself up a little and use pillows to support your position. Camomile tea, meditation, paracetamol regularly.

OP posts:
stayathomegardener · 27/03/2020 20:52

@hoovermyrug we are looking after our very frail neighbour who will be 87 on Wednesday.

She is still fighting it going on from at least her third week.
Poor thing felt she would die at times but has managed at home and getting more good days now.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 27/03/2020 21:07

Thanks, Moon, yours too. I have reassured myself by checking the stats. Even high-risk elderly people are still very much most likely to have a mild to moderate case and recover.

longshot · 27/03/2020 21:32

@stayathomegardener thank you for telling about your neighbour, that is a nice story to hear. Someone local to me also informed us that his 86 grandma has beaten it this week after a week in ICU!

We need mor me recovery and positive stories I think..

I’m going to bed now exhausted but am going to try and end the non working week with some positives:

My cough has pretty much gone
My fever has gone other than a freak hour today
My chest is a little less painful overall
I have a lovely DH and DCs who are looking after me!
My parents have been isolating for 4 weeks so are safe currently

Have a good night all.

EMichel102 · 27/03/2020 21:33

@Casino218 good suggestions will try. My body keeps wanting to wake itself up which is so frustrating.

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/03/2020 21:35

Can someone whose done the "elephant on the chest" thing please tell me - does your elephant command go or is it there permanently?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 27/03/2020 21:36

Mine comes and goes, Porcupine. As do the other symptoms.

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/03/2020 21:37

Thanks x
