But America couldn't function without trade with china. America wouldn't be able to supply or manufacture anything like what they buy in from China.

Sorry, not believing that.

U.S.-China Trade Facts
China is currently our largest goods trading partner with $659.8 billion in total (two way) goods trade during 2018. Goods exports totaled $120.3 billion; goods imports totaled $539.5 billion. The U.S. goods trade deficit with China was $419.2 billion in 2018.

there's no way USA could survive with out china.

Julian O'Neill - 'Scotland hopes to have social distancing powers (police fines etc) in place by later today. Nicola Sturgeon says once in they'll be reviewed every 21 days and last a max 6 months. No word on NI situation yet - will it be same?'

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 16:24

That wouldn't stop trump through - he is not exactly rational.

#BREAKING Lombardy reports 2,543 new cases of #coronavirus and 387 new deaths #COVID19

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 16:28

Is that up or down from yesterday.

istherelifeafter40 · 26/03/2020 16:29

I also don't think the USA can do anything with China. The USA massively depends on China not only in terms manufacturing, but also financially, as China holds massive amounts of US dollars and bonds. USA can't take on China.

defthand · 26/03/2020 16:33

Up a lot in Lombardy, there were 1691 new cases yesterday.

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 16:33

Through all that manufacturing could be moved - trump is close to Duterte and Modi so he might order investments to be moved to the Philippines, India, Brazil etc.

TheCanterburyWhales · 26/03/2020 16:34

Italy haven't published numbers yet. They do it everyday at 6pm Italian time. So in half an hour.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 26/03/2020 16:34

DD2 got made redundant today - last in, first out. It's only her uni placement year, and we already know of others in the same situation. Uni will just have to accept exceptional circumstances I guess. She's very lucky, living at home rent-free etc, so many others will be in much worse situations through absolutely no fault of their own.

Delatron · 26/03/2020 16:34

Other countries seem quicker/ better at releasing their figures. Or is that just me?!

defthand · 26/03/2020 16:35

Lombardy always release their numbers earlier than Italy as a whole.

'Dr Anthony Fauci, one of America's (And the world's) most respected infection control experts, highlights a rather concerning trend: The Southern Hemisphere, where the disease seemed to be largely controlled previously, is starting to see an exponential growth in cases.

Dr Fauci indicates that this is probably something to do with the seasons (The Southern Hemisphere is now in Autumn rather than the summer), and if this is the case the pandemic will begin to ease off in the Northern Hemisphere within a few weeks, but this almost certainly means that the disease will come back in full force in the winter. This is what he said:

" Fauci told reporters during a White House briefing that more cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus have begun to appear in the Southern Hemisphere, which is transitioning into colder seasons.

If there is an outbreak in the Southern Hemisphere, Fauci said "it will be inevitable" that the disease will make a comeback even if it is temporarily stopped.

New studies show that warm, humid weather might slow the virus — which could mean the pandemic will ease in the coming summer months in North America and Europe." '

It was obvious we would be left at home to die. They even said managed at home.
They were never going to have enough beds for herd immunity.

Bristol is probably a lot worse than the numbers. It may be that like London fewer older people. But also a nausea policeman quite young died weeks ago.
We also have an airport that flies to Tenerife and venice. And they sent some of the Tenerife lot home in Bristol flight with the other passengers with no masks etc.

Ofwarren if the sibling has it first before you have they been out at school? Just trying to work out if you've got it from them or dentist?

I think they are putting so much effort into the economic side and ensuring people get paid but seem to have failed the nhs while were saying weeks ago saying it was fine.
It can only have been intentional. If not we need some mn to take over pandemic planning.
Also itsnt BoZo quite rich I mean there could be a conflict of interest if he has say airline shares or building company etc

It seems they don't have enough
Ventilators
Oxygen even
Masks gloves eye wear.

Tbh I think there is going to need to be compensation for Drs and nurses or at least hopefully there is a death in service on their pension terms.
I'm still of opinion of what was trending on Twitter last week. I don't trust them.

AvocadoOwl · 26/03/2020 16:37

No country is going to be able to afford to go round starting wars after all this, even if they wanted to.

Trump is merely trying to deflect blame by putting it all on China. All he cares about is getting re-elected. Narcissist to the core. Amazed that the Gallop polls rate his actions so favourably in the US. The situation over there is terrifying.

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 16:39

My friend says a third of the Spanish deaths lived in care/nursing home type places.

defthand · 26/03/2020 16:39

And yes @Delatron other countries do seem to be doing better with data! 🙂

It’s a small thing but I do wish they’d choose a time and stick to it. Makes them look a little bit of a mess randomly releasing them later and later each day.

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 16:43

Michael Brendan Dougherty - 'Last night EMS in New York took 6,406 medical 911 calls, the highest volume ever, surpassing 9/11/01.'

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 16:47

Confirmation that today’s figures will be 36 hours as last ones only 12 - R4

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2020 16:49

Do not need permission to release raw statistic but do need to inform family first

No attempt to suppress

IronNeonClasp · 26/03/2020 16:52

Thanks for the thread 🙏🌈🤗

defthand · 26/03/2020 16:52

It’s worrying they were overwhelmed this early. 😕
