No idea, but it's an extra layer of terrifying when it's your local hospital :(

Feelingsolost1 · 26/03/2020 14:33

894 cases in Scotland now, a rise of 175 in 24 hours.

EveLevine · 26/03/2020 14:35

@Angryrant55 I wish I knew! But it’s not necessarily just Newport, that’s just where the biggest hospital is, so they are treating the most patients there.

ABHB also covers Caerphilly area, where they had the first case of community transmission a few weeks ago - who knows how many it was passed onto before it was discovered.

EveLevine · 26/03/2020 14:37

@BeyondMymymymyCorona it’s terrifying. I have a relative working on the respiratory ward, so scared for them.

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 26/03/2020 14:37

My guess would be something to do with commuting for work, there are a fair few people who live here for the cheap housing while working in Bristol or even London

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 14:38

Through Bristol is not an noted hotspot yet.

Dave West - 'NEW figures showing A&E attendances in England plummeting during the middle of March in response to #covid19 concern --- i make it a fall of a third over two weeks.'

TheRoyalTinker · 26/03/2020 14:42

@ofwarren Not a lot you can do, you seem to be doing everything possible. Window open?

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 14:43

Yeah both windows are open. Can't leave door open or he will go out 🙈

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 14:46

Jules Mattsson - 'More evidence of urgent need for clear rules, if you live locally & drive down the road to exercise in an open space for better distancing - that doesn't seem to be against govt statement. Yet police are filming you from a drone and shaming you on twitter?'

LBC - 'A 47-year-old man from Wrexham, North Wales, has died alone in self-isolation after developing coronavirus symptoms and refusing to call help so he "didn't waste the NHS time", according to his girlfriend.

Tim Galley, who was described by friends as "always happy", died on Tuesday in his flat while he was self-isolating with symptoms of Covid-19.

Speaking to the North Wales Chronicle, his partner Donna Cuthbert said a neighbour had found his body in bed after she asked them to check on him.

She said he hadn't been returning any of her calls.

"My amazing Tim didn't want to waste the NHS time so chose not to phone and get help and rather stayed at home in isolation thinking he would get better," she said.

"It's heartbreaking that he just wouldn't wake up. I genuinely want people to see the real Tim Galley and the love he's received from over North Wales."

According to the Chronical, the M&S Bank employee was not believed to have had any underlying health conditions when he died. '

Thanks for the new thread.
I've given up on home schooling today. We've planted seeds, replanted my herb collection, played in the garden, done some set work, baked bread, watched a science programme, and done fixed the climbing plants to the fence.

People around here seem to be staying at home now. Took a while to sink in but I think it has. Apart from the people locally on Facebook placing and hunting rocks in the park thereby encouraging people to go to the park Hmm

It still doesn't seem real to me at all.i know it is but the works looks so normal from my windows.

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 14:58

I think the sunny weather does not help.
The Weekend and then next week looks to be more cloudy through.

justchecking1 · 26/03/2020 14:58

Those Wales numbers for Swansea Bay NHS are wrong. There was 28+ last week, how can there only be 16 now?

SistemaAddict · 26/03/2020 15:01

Christ, I've just seen that about the guy in north wales. No known underlying conditions. There are more and more younger people dying.

I'm wondering if there is some kind of god then why are we being punished like this? I know some have said the world is resetting itself or that we are reaping what we have sown but I don't buy that.

ApricotCrush · 26/03/2020 15:06

@ofwarren. So sorry you are ill. I think viral load refers to doctors and nurses who are seeing many cases per day, not being isolated with one other person.

Youngatheart00 · 26/03/2020 15:10

Oh how tragic about the man in north wales. So young and to die alone in bed....horrific.

It’s made me think the guidance isn’t clear about when to escalate. We know that we aren’t to call 111 for mild cases, but what about when things get worse? How are these people’s health being monitored? There’s a big gap between mild symptoms - self isolate and calling for an ambulance or not even managing to do that in time.

danni0509 · 26/03/2020 15:13

Thanks for new thread

NettleTea · 26/03/2020 15:13

@ofwarren Im sorry you are sick, and with the added worry of your shielded child. Its my fear.

Angryrant55 · 26/03/2020 15:15

Sky News Breaking - 'Northern Ireland's Public Health Agency says 32 new positive cases have been recorded bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 241 and the number of patients who have died has risen by three to 10.'

MashedPotatoBrainz · 26/03/2020 15:19

People are putting their trust in a government which doesn't give a shit about their lives. Refusing to work with the EU to get access to more ventilators because they're fucking obsessed with brexit.

This whole self management at home is so sad. And it great contrast to other countries such as Germany.

defthand · 26/03/2020 15:22

Yes, I noticed there was talk in the Telegraph of the gov trying to implement “herd immunity by stealth” now too. (Which they approved of, because it’s the Telegraph).

mumoftwodc · 26/03/2020 15:34

@ofwarren just catching up on the thread and so sorry to hear that you are poorly 💐

MaxNormal · 26/03/2020 15:36

@MashedPotatoBrainz I am so fucking angry with them about that.
Now just waiting for whatever absolute shafting we're about to get as self-employed and my rage will be complete.
