I hope she is immune I'm so worried.

minsmum · 26/03/2020 20:50

Yes DH is a highways inspector.

teenagetantrums · 26/03/2020 20:52

Me working vin a care home. DP in a supermarket. I fantasize about being made to stay at home.

Love2cycle · 26/03/2020 20:53

Have been getting abuse from people for not being able to repair their Internet if it would normally need a house visit.

Snozzlemaid · 26/03/2020 20:53

Yes. Dp is a bus driver.

My friends son. He works for a bank. But, according to this government, it's more important that the bank continues to make a profit than my friend has living son

user1471550643 · 26/03/2020 20:56

Yes mechanic and bank staff here

Myfriendanxiety · 26/03/2020 20:59

DH works in finance for NHS. Still going into work every day and mixing with 100+ community nursing staff which terrifies me.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 26/03/2020 21:01

Dh working for a loan company. He's classed as a key worker apparently. They are trying to get more people working from home though.

GemmaFoster · 26/03/2020 21:01

Yes. Work for the justice system. Not front line but really busy ongoing.

My DS works for PHE and goes in 4 days a week, but may be reduced, he has to travel by tube and train to get there, i am very anxious about him.

afromom · 26/03/2020 21:04

DP is a water controller on the canal, he's doing loads of overtime as many of the bridge workers are older or vulnerable, so he is having to cover on top of his day job.
Daily he is in contact with hordes of people who are taking their exercise along the narrow canal paths (no way to keep 2m apart when passing others). But the especially stupid ones are the ones who keep ignoring the signs not to come in and pop on the the bridge huts 'for a little chat' (said bridge huts are tiny!)
Added to that he is covering the docks tying up and 'welcoming ships from all over the world'!
It's safe to say I'm an anxious wreck!

HelenaJustina · 26/03/2020 21:06

Short answer - yes

Long answer - I am in school every day this week, but rota will settle down and I won’t have to do every day over the next couple of weeks (will go in some days)
DM is going in on a rota
DF is pharma and going in most days
SiL pharma and working shifts
DB military and still working
2 x doctors still working too...

LocksMyth · 26/03/2020 21:07

Yes me. I am in a non essential job (factory, electronic assembly work) My employer has allowed some to work from home, some are Furloughed but assembly and despatch are told to go in. One director told us to wear post - it notes to remind colleagues of social distancing while we work.
It is not essential but bosses have bent the rules to suit their own agenda. A fine example of profit before people.
We are scared.. for our health, our families health and for our income and jobs. Who do we speak to about this?

Linnet · 26/03/2020 21:08

My dh works in a supermarket so has to go in. We do worry about him being in and touching surfaces and mixing with the public, although he does do all he can to stay away from everyone.

Kateplaysrugbyinmydreams · 26/03/2020 21:08

I am, nhs manager with front line services. Bloody knackered.

AlwaysColdHands · 26/03/2020 21:12

Yes, boiler engineer going in and out of peoples houses. Allegedly the company is only accepting emergencies but in reality not so.

Also, even if people are self isolating, if they’re desperate for hot water and heating, they may not disclose that they’re ill.

I’m asthmatic, two kids, hate the fact he’s got to do this every day.

Lougle · 26/03/2020 21:15

DH is. Site manager for 4 schools. He'd reducing what he does and coming home early, but still needs to be there to unlock, lock up, maintain, monitor, etc.

I was a nurse until January. No contact asking me to work yet, but I suspect that's because I left because of family issues/ childcare.

FatimaLovesBread · 26/03/2020 21:15

@RedDiamond I have already answered that question to another poster. I no longer have suspected covid 19 but other complications. DH has already done 14 days self isolation as per government advice. I am not an idiot and have fully listened to all gov and nhs advice. Believe me I have spoken to 111 and my gp plenty of times over the last 3 weeks

namechangetheworld · 26/03/2020 21:20

DH is an electrical engineer and still going into work every day, travelling around in a van with his colleagues, going into peoples homes and office buildings, all over the UK.

His boss initially told him that the company was closing tomorrow for the foreseeable. That's no longer happening.

I'm terrified that he will bring something home to the children and I.

maddiemookins16mum · 26/03/2020 21:21

Yep me. Not essential worker. But essential to keep our business of 190 other staff working (they are all at home working remotely). I work with tax and there are 2 of us in a massive office.

FatimaLovesBread · 26/03/2020 21:23

I wonder if more companies will start to close down if lockdown increases? DH and I are both apparently classed as key workers but dont feel that we are. You could manage without us for a bit. But obviously the companies want to keep making money

CanICelebrate · 26/03/2020 21:27

My dh works every day and I’m genuinely worried sick. It’s also v hard work for me working full time from home with 3 dc being schooled at home!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 26/03/2020 21:32

Other half is. Has his own business. I'd rather he didn't but it's factory work so can't be done from home.

Salene · 26/03/2020 21:33

My sister is a bus driver and still having to work even though she is so scared

She takes a diluted bottle of bleach to clean her driving area , and is washing her hands multiple times a day in bleach ShockI feel so sorry for her but she can't afford to quit her job but really doesn't want to be working right night, she has a 9 year old child and a over 65 year old husband .
