LoadsaBlusher · 26/03/2020 14:02

Yes - food production
Extremely worrying but needs to be done

SuperSange · 26/03/2020 14:07

Yes, DH works at a zoo.

ilovedjerrymore · 26/03/2020 14:07

Construction - only one of our sites has closed the other 4 are open. Self employed so don’t work don’t get paid.

Remmy123 · 26/03/2020 14:09

Brother is estate agent!

Oldraver · 26/03/2020 14:11

Four on Four off shift, so not at work everyday. Works for a PPE manufacturer.

Jaguarana · 26/03/2020 14:13

DH works for a company that makes essential medical supplies so is working as normal.

Whenwillthisbeover · 26/03/2020 14:14

DD is a radiographer, can’t wait to go back tomorrow after her time off, even X-ray-ing potential Covid19 chests. Most of her friends are those she works with, and went to uni with, so she says being at work is her social life as well as her job right now.

I always wfh, and have for years, I don’t find the isolation as much a problem.

NDN, works in a soap factory, currently doing loads of overtime, for obvious reasons.

Hollyhead · 26/03/2020 14:16

To everyone worrying, it is worrying but apart from medical staff, other workers are now far safer than they were 2-3 weeks ago before restrictions. I would rather be working now than when I was at work 4 weeks ago when all the deniers were still saying it was just flu!

111999A · 26/03/2020 14:17

Me-paramedic
DD-Nurse
DS- works for a courier/distribution service who deliver medical supplies.
DH is the only one able to work from home.

BettyOBarley · 26/03/2020 14:18

Yes DH is an RAC recovery driver. Key worker. No hand gel given, no nothing. Luckily they don't have to take the customer in the truck any more though, they have to be towed on the back!

Thetigeronthewobbelboard · 26/03/2020 14:19

DH, manufacturing, arguably non essential but arguably essential too it seems. 🤔 It’s his own business.

Need government direction to close for insurance to pay out. Contacted my MP about this and he sent a pompous email back quoting the isolation guidelines to me and telling me the government can’t possible advise for every industry and some common sense must be used. That’s fantastic but the insurance company don’t accept ‘i closed my business due to common sense’ as a reason to pay out on a policy. Without the insurance, 20 people will lose their jobs.

Mrsorganmorgan · 26/03/2020 14:19

Yes - nurse and teacher

KaptenKrusty · 26/03/2020 14:19

grannycake · 26/03/2020 14:21

Yes DH is a boatbuilder/repairer

whoami24 · 26/03/2020 14:21

DP works in warehouse for online clothes retail, really hope government close these business down, its not essential

BellatrixLestat · 26/03/2020 14:21

Me. Although not every day as I work part time.

I work for the police.

fantasmasgoria1 · 26/03/2020 14:23

My fiance. He works as a citv driver. If he and his colleagues doesn't do their job and supermarkets and other stores open right now go over their safe limits their insurance is invalid and they would have to close. He is a bit worried but everywhere he goes he said clients are observing good practice. He's washing his hands where he can and where not he has sanitiser.

Colouringaddict · 26/03/2020 14:23

My DH is a manager of a cradle company (on the outside of buildings, not for babies), he is still at work but is office based and has an office of his own, the engineers are still working on buildings that aren’t closed down. I am classed as vulnerable, so he comes home, gets stripped at the front door, gets straight into a bath and clothes get washed, it is currently the highlight of my day 😂

fantasmasgoria1 · 26/03/2020 14:24

Sorry I meant cvit driver!

OneHanded · 26/03/2020 14:25

Sister works in bank, BIL NHS and I’m insurance call centre.

Toothsil · 26/03/2020 14:28

FIL - supermarket
Brother - army
Other brother - teacher
SIL - teacher

Sux2buthen · 26/03/2020 14:28

Cleaner. Back at work tomorrow after isolating. I clean two businesses and I'd really rather not

z0fl0ra · 26/03/2020 14:30

Until yesterday I was (carer) partner is working in a factory (non essential but they refuse to close until the government forces them) and FIL is a plumber and is still working going into peoples houses Sad

z0fl0ra · 26/03/2020 14:31

@OneHanded I had a call from my insurance today and I really wanted to ask the guy I was speaking to if he was working from home and that I was hoping he had been allowed to but the background sounded too quiet Sad surely these are the sort of people who should be allowed to WFH?

PennyArrowBar · 26/03/2020 14:31

DH does travel security. They've given them latex gloves but very little else. There is a huge amount of tension and stress. I'm beside myself. Doesn't look like they'll have the furlough option.
