Yes, my brother. He grinds coffee beans.

Absolutely an essential job. Night shift is fuelled by caffeine and sugar.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/03/2020 19:43

Me, NHS hospital admin. It’s a very strange place right now!

Pishposhpashy · 26/03/2020 19:43

It is fancy hipster coffee. I doubt they serve it in hospitals.

Pentium85 · 26/03/2020 19:44

DH teacher
DM in supermarket

dementedma · 26/03/2020 19:47

DH works in residential child care. these children can’t stay at home...they need to be safe. And they need the staff to care for them. I am high risk asthmatic. I just hope he doesn’t pick anything up in work. He can’t possibly stay off for 3 months. These children need to be cared for

OhNoNoNoNotThatOne · 26/03/2020 19:48

Maintenence manager in a cereal production factory. As its food production and his team ensure the factory keeps productions up he is deemed necessary, although they've let all the subcontractors go as no work.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 26/03/2020 19:50

Yup. DH works for the emergency services.
I'm NHS, but only clinical frontline once weekly on a rota basis, so just out of the house then.

MiracletoCome · 26/03/2020 19:54

Pharmaceutical lab testing new drugs, not essential but following government guidelines as cannot wfh

GenderApostate19 · 26/03/2020 20:13

DH is an engineering shift manager at a large dairy/cheese producer, he’s now got 6 days off, 2 days holiday and 4 off as normal, he was really expecting to be asked to cancel his hols but they are coping well, despite 20% staff absence atm.
I gave up work at Xmas to look after 7 month old DGS, DD is a teacher but doesn’t have to go into school as they have very few kids in, so I’m at home but will be shopping for my Sister who is at risk so self isolating.
DD’s partner works in IT security and is going in to the office with one other person, all other staff are WFH.
As far as I know, SiL, BiL and nephews are all still working despite not being key workers in any way.

WeArnottamused · 26/03/2020 20:16

copycopypaste · 26/03/2020 20:36

HGV driver, he's been delivering medical supplies all over the country.

ZoChan · 26/03/2020 20:37

DH is a groundsman for a private school. They've condensed his hours to reduce breaks and social interactions. They already have their own tools and machinery is cleaned after use. They call each other from across the field. He comes home earlier, still gets paid.

TARSCOUT · 26/03/2020 20:38

DP furloughed, Dsis is pharmacist working all hours. Have ordered her luxury handcream to be delivered. Poor souls hands are raw. DP not volunteering locally as I am autoimmune. I WFH.

paradisefalls · 26/03/2020 20:39

Yep I'm a cleaner at Royal Mail.

RedDiamond · 26/03/2020 20:46

@FatimaLovesBread - Yup. DH is a metal fabricator and still at work confused

I'm work in pharmaceuticals and would be in work were I not off sick with Covid 19 and it's related complications

So why is your husband in work if you have Covid 19?!!!

Kim82 · 26/03/2020 20:47

Both dh and I both still have to work. I’m a GP receptionist and dh is a postman.

stargirl1701 · 26/03/2020 20:48

DH is. He is an agronomist. Spring is his busiest time of the year.

CuriousCapricorn · 26/03/2020 20:48

Yes. Dp is in engineering. No sign of them shutting. He said he doesn’t feel safe at work at all and is chronic asthmatic, as is our 9yr old dd.

Love2cycle · 26/03/2020 20:50
