Delay in today's numbers

Unless I'm being really stupid, it doesn't look like the numbers have been updated for today, it still says 24th March

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

Not seen any reasons as to why they are delayed?

@Alwayscheerful yes they will - the registering of a death is a legal process.

alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 22:55

Only measure was people flying from china and then italy told to make their way home and self isolate. Some took public transport, some did not self isolate including Royals.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 25/03/2020 22:57

“A new process for collecting number of recovered patients is in development: the figure shown is for 22/03/2020. The deaths count is for 24/03/2020 as the figure for 25/03/2020 is delayed”

That’s from their official website. It seems PHE still haven’t release the official updated figure.

Delay in today's numbers
Itsnotthatcomplicated · 25/03/2020 23:00

Flybe went bankrupt. That was not a corona measure.

I Didnt say it was. I said I flew they day they closed and there was measures in place then. To illustrate when there were measures in place. Because the poster I quoted said there was no measures in place 2 weeks ago. There was 3 weeks ago.

Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 25/03/2020 23:01

@feelingverylazytoday I really really hope so.
I think it will still affect London badly though for at least a month as people still having problems social distancing ( tubes etc.)
I think in more rural areas people are more used to being isolated and relying on cars rather than city dwellers.
If one in 3 londoners tested are positive, you could argue that a third of London are already affected in various stages of progression. We could still have a huge amount of people needing care in the next 2 weeks?

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 25/03/2020 23:02

@RainbowPenguins that updates not showing up for me?

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 25/03/2020 23:03

It’s still coming up with 24th figure

defthand · 25/03/2020 23:04

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge

So the deaths data is incomplete? Do you have a link for that quote, I can’t find it.

alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 23:05

@Itsnotthatcomplicated what measures were in place when you flew with flybe?
Friend flying back from singapore said no measures in place in UK

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 25/03/2020 23:09

@defthand If you scroll through the page I just gave you it’s literally in the small print right at the very end

RainbowPenguins · 25/03/2020 23:11

"Please note these figures do not cover a full 24 hour period"

There we go, not sure what's going on but explains why the number is quite significantly lower than yesterday. Not looking forward to tomorrow Sad

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 25/03/2020 23:12

@RainbowPenguins Thanks for posting

Bufferingkisses · 25/03/2020 23:15

The death number is a big drop from yesterday. Odd and out of proportion with Wales and Scotland (particularly given London is the epicenter).

^ this. Together with the delay something smells hinky. A change in recording to "reflect underlying conditions" perhaps? I don't know but something is off.

RainbowPenguins · 25/03/2020 23:15

keys The arcgis link still hasn't been updated, still says 422. It's the gov.uk and Twitter showing the 463 figure.

Wannabangbang · 25/03/2020 23:16

I was thinking this was weird too

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 25/03/2020 23:18

what measures were in place when you flew with flybe? Friend flying back from singapore said no measures in place in UK

Going through security at Manchester Edinburgh we were separated. Extravqueus were open, to keep distance.

Signs everywhere about washing hands and keeping distance where possible. Did however go tonpot when you are squashed on a tiny plane......with a cougher.

My kids flew to italy a few days before, the same and with a temperature check at each ends.

There was loads of advice about washing hands.

Not saying there was measures like there was now. But there were definitely measures in place.

As I said my kids automatic 2 week isolation, because they returned form italy was up last Sunday. That was 2 weeks long. So we did have measures 2 weeks ago.

ContessaferJones · 25/03/2020 23:27

On the numbers, DH and I were discussing and came to the conclusion that the numbers will continue to rise until 2 weeks post-lockdown, after which they will hopefully start to slow down a bit. Given that we had 6650 cases on Monday and that the numbers are doubling every 3-4 days, we guessed that it would get up to 25,000 cases at least before levelling off. So seeing unusually low numbers for one day makes me raise an eyebrow and want to check the data rather than saying 'Hurrah, we've cracked it' (alas).

defthand · 25/03/2020 23:27

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge

Well spotted! You’re right, and finally (and sadly) things make sense.

For those who haven’t found it, it’s hidden under “about” at the bottom of the page.

It clearly says the death count is delayed and does not include data from today (presumably it cut off late last night).

“ England case count is as of 09:30 (GMT). A new process for collecting number of recovered patients is in development: the figure shown is for 22/03/2020. The deaths count is for 24/03/2020 as the figure for 25/03/2020 is delayed.”

This is consistent with everything coming out so late.

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 23:30

Yesterday death figures were to 1pm so the 28 from the 1pm - midnight deaths yesterday.
Tommrow will be back in the 70-100 range for england alone.

defthand · 25/03/2020 23:34

But it’s true the dashboard hasn’t been updated at all in terms of deaths, unlike the website, so who knows. It’s a muddle.

FATEdestiny · 25/03/2020 23:38

There's a clear flattening of the curve over the last 4 days.

1 day could be a blip. Perhaps even 2 days. I cannot explain this change over 4 days though. Someone on another thread suggesting antibiotic resistance could be a factor- countries with steep curves (Spain, Italy) could have higher antibiotic resistance in the population compared to flattened curves (Germany and maybe... UK?)

Delay in today's numbers
alloutoffucks · 25/03/2020 23:40

@Itsnotthatcomplicated I didn't think the UK had ever done temperature checks? I know Italy did.
Everyone I talked to who flew at that time, none from Italy, bit from places like Singapore said the country they flew from did temperature checks, but in the UK there was nothing except signs to wash your hands.

Whatsmyname26 · 25/03/2020 23:40

I do think things are looking more promising. I’ve been following the figures and we really don’t seem to be following Italy at all now. I really hope that continues to be the case 🤞

confusedandtired99 · 25/03/2020 23:43

I hope you don’t mind @KeysDontBelongInTheFridge but I pinched that link and quoted what you said in worried about the corona virus thread 33. You are far more eloquent and succinct than I.
