My son works in b&q... I just collected him from work - apparently this was their busiest day... 100%over expected sales Similar to my partner's job electronics, the sales have gone beserk well above the Christmas takings.
People are crazy.
281 is only the beginning, non essential shop's need to close.

Janemarpling · 22/03/2020 17:02

Was Italy 366 at the same day?

SabineSchmetterling · 22/03/2020 17:03

I can’t see today’s numbers updated yet.

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2020 17:03

Yes Italy was 366

LambriniSocialist · 22/03/2020 17:03

Yep 366

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2020 17:03

I'd expect closer to 366, to be honest, for the UK

defthand · 22/03/2020 17:04

+48 deaths
+665 cases

LambriniSocialist · 22/03/2020 17:04

People are buying DIY stuff for self isolation. A couple of people I know were in there yesterday getting bits...

Eeyoresstickhouse · 22/03/2020 17:04

281 in total up by 48. Italy at the same point had 366.

SabineSchmetterling · 22/03/2020 17:06

I don’t know where worldometer got those figures from. As far as I can see the government hasn’t actually published today’s figures yet.

ListenLinda · 22/03/2020 17:06

My DH works for Argos, it has apparently been mental today. Non essential shops need to close and quickly.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 22/03/2020 17:07

sabine the ones I posted above are the official death figures. Sent out by bbc and sky news as a news alert.

WobblyAllOver · 22/03/2020 17:08

The gov publishes the figures here www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

WobblyAllOver · 22/03/2020 17:09

Actually the number of deaths was published about 10 mins ago on that site but they have just been removed.

LambriniSocialist · 22/03/2020 17:09

Says number of deaths will be published later?

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2020 17:10

Well that's a fair bit below Italy's total deaths at the same time.

Sky News Breaking - 'The total number of people who have died after testing positive for covid-19 in the UK has reached 281 which is an increase of 48 in the last 24 hours.'

AvocadoOwl · 22/03/2020 17:11

I don’t know where worldometer got those figures from. As far as I can see the government hasn’t actually published today’s figures yet.

Scotland, Wales and NI release theirs earlier so Worldometers report them, then the UK release figures as a whole and the rest get added.

Skittlesss · 22/03/2020 17:11

@picklemewalnuts
I don't think he's any more of a risk than the painter, the estate agent, the cleaner or the gardener

None of these people should be in your mothers house!

chomalungma · 22/03/2020 17:11

Will Boris talk about the parks?
Beaches
Crack down on shopping

RedToothBrush · 22/03/2020 17:11

Numbers today are encouraging.

Much better than they were. The right side of the 33% daily death increase line (by some number).

We have to hope that it stays going that way.

Angryrant55 · 22/03/2020 17:12

Darren McCaffrey - 'BREAK: 651 deaths in 24 hours in Italy bringing total to a devastating 5476

BUT the rate of increase in new infections is 9% - lowest since outbreak began.'

SabineSchmetterling · 22/03/2020 17:12

Oh that’s interesting. I wonder why they withdrew the number of deaths?

Number12 · 22/03/2020 17:14

Come on boris spit it out... Is he going to keep things the same???? Follow the advice argghhh

waspfig · 22/03/2020 17:14

Nothing! He's saying nothing we don't already know.
